Finnaly managed to try wiring, and i must say it was quite a let down,

    1. Red alarms couldn't be triggered
    2. Lights couldn't be triggered either
3.you couldn't connect two switches together like in terraria, with all the beautiful consoles it would have been nice to activate a imprevium console with a fingerprint sensor
    4. could not connect 2 doors to open together, lots of problems with this one.
    5. had a hard time figuring out how to use the system

In all honesty, i preferred the terraria way of wiring. It might have cost alot of wires and before the latest patch it was hell not to corss wires but it was possible to build alot more things.

Sure we only need 1 spool of wire for each point now, but it limits what we want to build, triggered alams, doors etc etc. Might want to look into this

I agree with other points, especially the fifth one.. but not the fourth.

Here's a picture of my ship, it has four doors. Two before the captain's cabinet, two after the teleporter. As one door is one square wide, I made it two doors, because otherwise it would be retarded.

The first two impervium doors are connected to the handprint scanner, the other two are connected to the panel on the ground. They work.

Might be i am still not sure how to use it, which relates to the 5th point

I found this out as well when I got the wiring tool that most of the in-game levers, switches, lights, and so on cannot be connected at all at. A temporary disappointment.

    "Temporary" :DD

Hopefully it wont be "permanent" so lets point it out now

I must be dense, I cannot seem to figure out how to use the wiring tool, anyone have an idea of what I'm missing?

Purple to Red, red to purple, left click to put wires, right click the point to remove.
Should be alright after this, just need to play around abit

So do the scanners only open for the player that places them? And if so, couldn't another player just destroy the door its attached to in order to get through? Haven't used any of it yet to test it, so I'm curious to know how they work.

So I've managed to make myself a Wiring Gun, but I cannot for the love of life figure out how to get the actual wire. I read it can be crafted with copper, but it's nowhere on the crafting list on either robotic workbench or metalwork station.

The target for the red and purple circles are a bit picky and sometimes I find myself randomly clicking around it to get it to make the connection. It get's tricky when you try to shove them into small layouts.

If you want to get into wiring I suggest these mods:
Logic 101 -- Logic gates; need I say more?
Sparkz -- Pressure plates, buttons, sensors, a workable alarm/light, powererable objects to create and drain liquids, etc.

If you felt so inclined you could go making your own wiring objects. All it requires is knowledge of LUA scripting.

There's no protection on any of these items whatsoever; anyone can place, anyone can rewire, and anyone can destroy them.

Ah, well hopefully that will change. Utterly useless otherwise, especially on multiplayer servers.

the wire system is young, but still with much potential.
Take a look at what you can do with it
