    Just observed at Bartwe's stream:

He entered into "wire mode" and was able to connect wires and logic gates:

    wires_2.jpg

After connecting all the wires and going back to "normal" mode, I noticed the ship's door started moving, powered by the wires:

I didn't expect wires/logic gates for Beta! I guess we're in for a surprise. And this also confirms that the ship's systems can be powered by wires. How far can we take this to customize our ships?

Fun with switches on Avian ship:

Some wiring action on a planet surface:

Description of levers as understood by different races:

Description of a "Tier 10 Impervium Console":

Update: I wrote up an article on Starbounder.org wiki about Wiring, describing my observations and understanding of how stuff on this screen works.

Mmm. It must not show up on my phone. Which is a tragedy because I've given up on paying attention to my 4 hour anatomy lecture

  5. Heh, all the crazy things people will come up with using that...

Sweet! Super happy they appear to be using a wiring system more like Gunpoint rather than Minecraft or Terraria.

Not sure you could ask for much more.

    • Logic gates, timers, etc CHECK
    • User interactive and circuit effected props CHECK
    • A sane wiring interface (Gunpoint style) CHECK
I mean its only short of an in game script editor... which is not required by any means.

Ahh, i prefer this type of wiring than MC's or Terraria's. I might actually bother wiring stuff, this time. :p
    (Although, between Minecraft's and T's, i much prefer T's)

Yeah. Terraria/MC may had a more "realistic" system, but it was also a lot harder to build and maintain (especially if you lay wires somewhere deep, then you need to dig up your entire house to rewire them later). The gunpoint system may require more imagination (although it's the future so entirely possible electricity can be transmitted over wireless fields), and more importantly its a lot easier to do and change as needed, making wiring accessible to a lot of players who otherwise wouldn't bother with it at all.

Ah, but can we make music with it? That's the true test!

"Floran pull leaver. Make thingsss happen."

I was going to play Apex but now I'm very interested in what the Floran says about more items...

    Using an anvil...
    "Floran hit metal. Makesss thingsss."

    Raybrandt Jackpot!

    But we already have instruments.

Now we can make our instruments play themselves. TECHNOLOGY.

  12. That is pretty great, wired is still basic, but i guess they have plans to add things to be more complex, as sensors, timers (like terraria), etc... :lolwut:

Would be cool if you had to wire it to a generator, which you have to feed coal or other mats.

You know what this means, someone's gonna make a fully-automated, completely over-complicated Po dispenser.

Yeah, a tier line or different power sources with various pros and cons would add to the entire system. Like others have mentioned, we may only see that in mod form.

I remember they showed this feature off a looong time ago. Have they improved upon it, or is it still the same?
