Why would it be impossible just because stars die and planets are destroyed? Perhaps such stars have gates too, its just that your ship is smart enough not to go there.

Either way, We dont know how far back these gates were made. If its just a couple of thousand years thats nothing from a planet/star outlook.

On the subject of "why". The outpost seems to be a barren piece of rock currently, but as you just pointed out, who says it was allways that way? Perhaps it was once the homeworld of a galactic empire, but the planet was destroyed for some reason and the gate survived floating around on a fragment of the world. Later races might have found this floating fragment using said gates and after realising that its connected everywhere, created the outpost as you see it today.

Thats just made up by me off course, im just trying to point out that if you want to make up a lore story to support the current world you can without difficulty do so.

In my mind anything is possible; it is find the way to go about it that needs finding.

Anyway I still stand by what I mentioned, and looks to me I am right on the mark. Look at the many ideas that have sprouted from just the gate itself. I love imagination and the wonder. It is obvious that the creativity is well met. I like quite a few of the ideas mentioned, especially the one above.

Being it an ancient race could mean anything really, as all we know is that it is possibly the missing spot on the gate. For all we know the gate could have originally been blank except for that ancient race, or blank period with no indication of race. The idea that the place in the alternate dimension existed for this one race long ago does imply that they needed to get everywhere. Why? Well that is most definitely subjective. Could be for Unity, Empire Control, Easy Access/Transportation, and even more things that we have not thought of. For me it is not a matter on why, but rather what is going on at this time.

Since apparently that ancient race is no longer there, we have the unification or catch point of all the races we can play. A meeting spot. So I guess they must have stumbled upon this device and utilized it to create a universal access point in which others may come to them when they felt the need, or were curious enough to investigate. Obviously it is a trading post of sorts where the races mingle and have seen past what they were to each other in the past to live or thrive together as one. Could be still young, this dimensional base.

The gate itself could have just 1 gate that exists in the dimension itself, and then projects itself into others when needed; hence being every where you go. Once discovered it will be known to be there. It is obvious that this gate is highly advanced technology, that is apparent when you activate it, and then proceed to walk through. Could be that the gate itself is an AI all to its' own. If that were the case then it will project to those it thinks would benefit or is in need of a place away from the chaos per say. Safety as well. Like pinging servers, hence our ship noticing it, when it wants to be known. No ping means it probably will not be found, due to it not wanting to be found.

It is all an idea or collective of ideas. Many possibilities can come of it though.:)

Gates to outpost in every system are LAME, who build all of that and what was the purpose for connecting whole universe to that one outpost? That doesn't make any sense.

    This.

As far as quests go I dont mind them really it keeps sb innocent which I like about this game.

Rapid-fire weapons such as Uzis and Avian Heavy Blasters become completely useless at higher tiers due to their damage not going through armor.

This is really dumb for several reasons, but it should really be obvious.

The winter update is an unstable update. As in "Work in progress". Of course there's unfinished sutff such as the outpost.

Everything from nightly to unstable to stable is a "work in progress".

But unstable is mostly about bug fixing and making it stable so that they then can push it into stable.

Nightly is where the big changes happens (first at least).

I could not agree more with this, the quests feel more linear then in a call of duty and from the "niveau" and style of writing it is compareable to Hello Kitty Island Adventures. Really... getting Steel to make a spoon for a female human cause apparently you dont have any spoons on an outpost on some kind of asteoroid? Thats kinda... off... To be quite frank it doesnt fit at all... Being able of interstellar flight and settling down on other planets and even asteroids with artificial gravity and all that and lacking a simple spoon or the simple fact and thought that you could some other materials instead of steel to stirr the coffee... Also "Get me some paper and I show you how to make some awesome paperplanes". How is a paperplane helping me in combat? Or a beachball for that matter of fact... sure if those quests would be optional "fun quests" so people could do them who would collect all the items no matter how big their gain is it would be cool. But those weird, out of place quests as mandatory are quite a no go and tainted the image I got from these devs :/. To be quite frank I feel that those quests are not fitting to that what I expect of a game considered "Dark and Mature" in one of the articles (which was one of the reasons I decided to give it a shot, that and that I got 15 spare dollars). Sure these might be placeholders but in all honestly... why putting then those off quests in in the first place? Getting some cure for some fictional disease people got on that outpost would fit better (and would make atleast me feel alot more immersed with the story) than getting coffee for a woman cause she wouldnt let me pass otherwise (or I wouldnt be permitted to do the other quests) while I could, theoreticly, slice her half with a blade out of steel for messing arround with me. Or simply gun her down. And the rest of her friends. And get the gear from them and use it that way.The outpost definitly needs guards aswell for a matter of fact.

That and alot better writing in the quests. Quests where the player feels more important and not kinda like being a joke... getting coffee, spoons and paperairlplanes while being rewarded with beach balls doesnt feel satisfying. Gathering plants and liquids for medicine to cure someone feels alot better storywise. And getting as a reward something you need to progress AND ontop of that something you might actually use in combat... like a sniperrifle. Or a gun that shoots sawblades if you want it a bit more silly. Or a bow with arrows with bladed tips... but less mandatory quests... really less, excuse my choice of words, silly written mandatory quests and more serious quests if you want any of those quests to be mandatory.

Also might be a bit offtopic, but anyone screencapped the booting sequence of several of the S.A.I.L AIs? Have read on reddit or so that apparently their are some encrypted messages at the very beginning of the game when you reboot your ship AI. In numerics or written reverse and a few in very simple anagrams. Can anyone here confirm this?

I didn't find the manipulator slow in any way. I didn't even upgrade it for a while and I still didn't think it was taking me an absurd amount of time to mine. I think people just want things handed to them as fast as possible and any amount of work will make them scoff.

And that's what's interesting about games in development.

    They're in development.

This is, if I'm not mistaken, literally the first iteration of the quests. I wouldn't expect them to make sense, I expect them to be a demonstration that it can actually work. Which it does.
Suits are similarly a first iteration thing, except with planet hazards.

Not exactly sure what you're expecting. Chuckle needs to get everything perfect on the first implementation?

What kind of naming is that? It's very unnusual

    strangepeople3.png
There! There's Kluex being named out of the blue!

    strangepeople4.png
They also drop different kinds of weapons than the Avians. So it's strange that they mention Kluex at all...
It's all very strange. It speaks of a technological advanced people, but signals are very mixed. I'm thinking these have a strong link to that mysterous Eight Race in the gate. Only time will tell I guess...
    -edit3-
I went to some Avian tomb and noticed a very similar pattern. I think it's the same A.I. behaviour from those weird fellows I ran into before. Might explain the Kluex part...

Also, I'm liking those quests that tasks you with plucking an item from a particular settlement or dungeon. That's the kind of stuff that works perfectly with randomized quests that even townsfolk could give you.
