Will you start over when 1.1 arrives?

I gotta change my opinion on this one after seeing the update, sadly starting over after hoarding mils xD

 

A very good point, haha. Let me rephrase then by saying I'm surprised that no one came back to this thread and mentioned the new layouts when the news came out. I'm not very far into my first original save file, so starting over again will be kind of tedious to re-do everything...but then again, maybe CA has made somewhat different events/cutscenes that correlate with the layout...I can dream

 

I personally found that starting over wasn't as painful if only because I had a clear idea of what to do so I was able to hit the ground running versus the blind stumbling I did on my first save. It's like on my second save I think I was pretty much caught up to the progress of my first save in half the time.

The first couple of days can be a brute cause you run out of energy so quickly but generally I found by the end of Spring 1 I was already choo chooing along in life.

 

I love starting over, the first two years are the most fun years for me

 

That's what happened for me too - Save 1 was the learning file, Save 2 was the perfectionist file. I'm in Fall year 2 and already finished with most achievements, tools are all upgraded, skills are all maxed...Ill probably finish 5 years on this one too and then start a new save once the update comes out.

 

Yea, I've restarted enough times that I've got a sort of a system:

Day one: Buy all the parsnips, plant all the parsnips.
Day 5: Harvest parsnips, plant potatoes (and everything else needed for bundles)
Egg Festival: Buy all the strawberries from the profits from the potatoes
Day 21: Buy all the potatoes with the money from your first crop of strawberries
Day 28: Profit! Hopefully have at least 15,000 to buy everything I'm gonna need for Summer 1

 

Like many others, I have had to re-think my position on this. After seeing the new layouts, I'm definitely going to start a new save for farmer Emma. However, I am still going to play my current Emma save. I just started year 2 before the latest information came out. I don't want to completely abandon it. I'll probably go until year 3, and then start over. Because that hill top farm is seriously calling my name.

 

I admit I am curious because didnt CA mention the forest map would also have a unique type of weed? And between the screenshot of some wacky looking monsters in the wilderness and unique geodes in mining...I am getting the feeling that each map may have a unique spawn feature that the other ones aren't gonna get access to.

Which makes sense since I think in the interview he had mentioned half the reason for the new maps was to hopefully encourage replay-ability.

 

I'm thinking so, and not only unique from the other farm maps, but unique from any other location in the game as well, so as to give a distinct advantage for each one depending on what you choose. I'm wondering if the fishing one might spawn some new types of fish that can't be caught anywhere else.

 

I would toooooooooooootally start a new game! I've always wanted to marry Shane xD Tho my first save isn't finished yet, I'll be completing that save first then start a new one!

I can't wait for the new maps ToT I want the Hills map baaadly!! ><

 

New maps... I'll have to look at them before I truly decide.

 

Guess I'll first try the maps, and take a look at each of them, then pick one I'll focus on, or at least sort them in some order to play... Haven't completed my first save yet, but oh well.. I can always continue playing my old farm in the meantime. (have a serious case of altoholism in most online games, guess playing two+ farms wouldn't be that much of issue... >.> )

 

4 additional farm lands, 4 different approaches, 4 different characters. Gon' take awhile but I certainly think it will be worth it.

 

I'd need to start over anyway to get the new starter maps.

I assume by now a lot of my mods probably don't work properly so I'll have to make a clean install as well.

 

I only started playing at the weekend so I don't think so. I'm also only at 4 hearts with three people so, depending on when it's looking to release (do we have a rough timescale?) I'll probably use this same save.

 

I was hoping to get more achievements in my current game but it is becoming a bit tedious so im taking a break.

i will definitely start a new game day 1 when 1.1 comes out. i can't wait to try one of the new farm maps

 

I'll start over -- I'm in the middle of year 3 on my current save and just got the craft every item achievement. Now I need to catch a couple of recipes I missed on the cooking show first time through then I can do the cook every recipe, then watch the money roll in for my 10million gold achievement, so I'll keep that save going till I get that last one but I'll definitely start a new save to see all the new cut scenes and play with the new map layouts (either foraging or mining first). I hope there'll be a lot more backstories, especially Shane; what happened to him to make him such a bitter drunk and why did he come to live with his Aunt Marnie and cousin Jas? (For that matter, I'd like to know what happened to Jas' parents -- a lot of absent parents already in the game.)

 

So far I've married Harvey, Abby and Maru in my saves -- my current one I wanted to see all the 10 heart scenes before making up my mind, and just got Alex so now I'm trying to decide who to go for. I want to go for someone different so that leaves out the first three (sorry Abby!) -- leaning towards Sam or Alex this time, though Leah's a possibility because she likes driftwood and loves salad so gifting her would be easy.

 

There are supposedly new cut scenes for more of the non-marriage candiates, as well as the new ones for Emily and Shane, so it would be worth a new save just for those. And you could still keep your old save and go back to it to work on various achievements -- I'm still trying for the 10 million gold earned and I'm just halfway there.

 

I always try to find 5 artifacts/minerals for Gunther really early on to get the free cauliflower seeds -- that helps a lot. I usually wait to plant the strawberries till either Year 2, or winter year 1 if I have the greenhouse by then and don't want to fill it with ancient fruit.
