Will you go melee or ranged?

Ranged seems way overpowered, i mean the monsters i seen on videos, streams, etc... Even with ranged attacks are with a sort limited range, so if you keep your distance with a gun it seems you can always win. Maybe with new mobs using Guns, bows or other sort of things it will be more balanced.

 

Melee only (at least with my main Hylotl character) because I'm going to be a ninja medic/herbalist

 

I don't really know to be honest with you since well I haven't actually seen much of the game but I guess comparing to terraria I would melee on normal monsters and ranged on bosses or anything with abnormal amount of health

Yep, a medic or a herbalist.

 

I thinkfor ease of learning i will prolly aim for guns first . but overall i think that is is completely situational

 

Or a flamethrower, including fires.

 

I can't really pick.
Sometimes I like to snipe, sometimes I like to stab backs, sometimes I like to akimbo pistols, sometimes I like to use a pally's hammer.

It's just too good.

Hell, just look at whips. Those cover great distance, but are considered melee weapons.

Most likely ranged, seeing that melee weapons in this game require a wind-up time. I think they'd feel too stiff for me.

 

Definitely ranged. I did too much melee in Terraria and would love to play with some space weapons. Pew pew pew.

 

Probably ranged, mostly because a lot of games don't seem to be able to balance melee in a way that makes it an attractive alternative to not being right next to the enemy.

 

I'll be melee, with a huge ass sword... and hopefully a Laser or atleast some kind of Tech Sword later

 

Ranged, with a Big-Ass Shotgun that shoots a spray of lava from one barrel, and a spray of plasma from the other. (If it's not in-game, I'll mod it in.)

i'll use the matter manipulator to kill the bosses and hand to kill others.

 

Only a moron would bring a sword to a gunfight. I'll stand from a distance and stick to my fully-automatic laser cannons, thank you.

 

But in starbound, you can see in front and behind you, and I don't plan to have behind me undefended or unlighted.

 

Melee, I'll also probably duel wield shields. Not sure why, but I like tons of defense. I'll be a wall while my brother does the hurting.
