Will you be able to disable some game features, in game?

Depends on the mechanic. There are some things (e.g. permadeath) that I avoid like the plague, but others (e.g. hunger) I like to toggle depending on how I feel like playing.

The way I see it is this: If I want to play the way I want to play, I'll play that way. If there are more options, that just means a few more clicks in character create (unless they're grouped together in difficulty groups). I'll play for the game, I'm not going to make it excessively easy or excessively difficult for myself, if someone else wants to go around without the need of sustenance, I won't complain.

Uhh if I see one more person seriously speak against features being optional, I'm going to backhand somebody. What are you guys, a bunch of commies? Who cares how you think the game should be played. Features are optional BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE IS THE SAME.

Some people assume that only they know the "one right way to play a game", and that everyone should have to play like that, no exceptions allowed. It seems ridiculous, but I've seriously seen that attitude in so many communities.

I mean, I dislike how so many modern games seem to hold your hand the entire time, but if something like that is optional, I have no problem with it. The whole point of making certain things optional is to allow something to cater to casual gamers AS WELL as hardcore gamers, without having to make a completely separate game. It's really the best solution, but apparently some people can't accept that others don't want the same things they do.

If anything you will be able to disable anything you want by modding.

Wait how do you know it's only for beginning tools? Source?

Good point since the game is going to support modding pretty well i wouldn't be too worry about it but at the same time it would be nice to control what you have or not

First of all, I think Starbound will have the softcore, mediumcore and hardcore options like we had in Terraria. If it had a similar system then durability, hunger meters and all that could only exist in one "mode"?

  10. Many Options will depend of what the Server you are demands, if it wants Hunger, Temperature to be active, I'm pretty sure client-side you can't change it.

Yes, but a good game can create a hindrance that is fun to get through, rather than tedious clicking
