Will you be able to build an underwater base?

Will I be able to build an underwater base properly? I noticed in Terriaia it was a real pain to build a under water building, and didn't seem practical to do. Terriaia seemed to lack air locks and such and ways too keep the water from entering the building.

This game has an aquatic race, advanced water physics, and fleshed out aquatic environments.

    No need to worry.

I'm hoping with underwater bases you can add realistic windows. In terraria even if you built on the bottom of the sea, if you added a window you always got the trees and hills background which didn't really make sense. I'm hoping that the game will in some way recognize you're underwater or under acid/magma (whatever bodies of liquid they have) and change the background accordingly if you add a window.

the likely hood is that the great big metal doors will be able to withstand water so i imagine making an airlock would be rather simple to do, but in addition to the doors you'll need some form of way to pump the water out of the airlock after your in and the doors are shut so you can actually go INTO the base, i'd imagine that with the water physics the way they are this would be rather simple to do.

There is a mechanic currently in the game for draining of liquids. If there is no background block at a location liquids drain through it. So to make an airlock make a room with 2 doors and a gap in the background wall at floor level. The problem is if you are under a water body without a liquid generator as you would gradually empty it, but oceans have them.

Honestly, that does sound very important. In fact, how cool would it be to actually see the underwater mobs on he other side of the glass? And what if after breaking the glass and letting the water in, the game knew to spawn that mob for you? That would be so cool. Difficult to code, of course, but we can always hope for it someday. At the very least, it would be very nice if the game showed water behind the glass if you were below sea level and within a certain distance of an ocean.

Do you realize how destructive this would be!?

Me: Oh, hey, this really large and most likely extremely dangerous aquatic animal is cool.
    Him: Yeah, me too.

Well, with an underwater house and a douche friend, anything can happen in Starbound.

If that douche friend happens to have a big fat gun, then you're probably going to be respawning more than you're actually going to play the game.

    How do I know this?

    Experience. Terraria. Every damn time.

Well there are pumps in game, so I always figured you could pump out water. From what I understand oceans are made up of Infinite water blocks and they spill out in the background, so if you pump out water it would just spill out the back as the ocean blocks try to fill up as much as they can.

So, if you removed a wall block, it'll be replaced again by ocean block if you did that within ocean biome?
