Will we see side scrolling space combat in the future?

Think it would be a nice idea, a throw back to some old nintendo games.

Hmmh side scrolling space combat... Since the traveling through planets was going to be made via a star map of some sorts (If I remember correctly) It would probably have to be done as a side event or minigame, or just a sudden event while traveling between planets.

 

Yeah im thinking something like the old Life Force game. It could be a mini game for just about anything, like cash or supplies.

I would like to see a procedurally generated side scrolling shoot em up to compliment planet travel. However, it would need to be short probably five minutes to ten minutes in length. Also it would need to be an option, so if you do not feel like playing a shoot em up then you could select in the options to turn them off or/and have a button to simply skip past the shoot em up missions if you decided that you really wanted to get to the planet after you had started the shooter.

 

It would be really rad. Maybe in Starbound 2 .

 

Could be like a random encounter, like when traveling from one planet to another.

 

If it was a random encounter, then they would need to give a reward of sorts for finishing it like more pixels or random loot drops to upgrade your space ship.

 

Yeah, like if you meet other (evil) human ships then you would get stuff like minerals and pixels.
And if encountering alien (or stuff) ships then you would get... alien stuff?

 

This would be SO FLIPPIN COOL.
