Will we get the game for vita if we have it pre-ordered?

Big news today! Starbound will be coming to the vita this year also. So my question is, will we have to repay for the game for the vita or do we get it also with our pre-order?

Either way if I do have to re-purchuse I probably would. I would be playing it all day long on the go - aka in my bed - lol

Probably not. I'd be surprised if so!

It would be nice, but given the low price I wouldn't blame them if you had to buy it

But I"m pretty sure that if you pre-ordered it, it was for the PC version.:)

There is no reason for anyone who preordered to get a Vita copy. What you get is listed on the preorder page. Also, there is little to no chance that Sony would be okay with that.

I would love it if they gave us a vita key, but its perfectly reasonable for Chucklefish to not give us one.

Personally I'm more than happy to pay another 10-15 dollars to support them.

As am I. The game looks to be shaping up nicely. Can't imagine how nice it will feel to play it on my vita.

I don't think so, and I'd gladly pay again for this game, honestly. <3

I doubt it. It'd be likely that the Vita version will come after the initial PC, Mac and Linux ones.

If I buy Dead Space 3 on PC, do I get it on Xbox360 and PS3 too????

    :what is this madness:

I can see why someone might think something like this. PS3 and Vita have some crossbuy games which are mostly indie downloadable games. That said, this is entirely different. It would be cool if Starbound came to the PS3 as well and was a crossbuy title though.

You truly are a great detective. I don't know how you did it, no clue what so ever.

Because alot of threads and beliefs on this forum seem to be fueled on baseless speculation and assumptions non of which is backed by any research.

Mostly because people think it would be a good bonus for pre-ordering and has people have said some games do that crossbuy thing (though usually it is around the same system type, like win/mac/lin or vita/ps4). I mean people thought this about minecraft simple because the head dev, Notch, never figured the game would take off like it did and he said "all future versions and patches".

Lastly some people don't realize the work that goes into porting or that some games have to hire professional porters or porting houses to do it and so they are not just charging you 20 bucks to have the game on your gametron640 but also to pay the porter or as compensation for the porting effort. Unless you have a game programmed in a language and with API that are universally the same you have to change stuff to make it work. It is the reason till recently Linux had so few ports, it takes a lot of time to port a game, changing directX calls to OpenGL ones, moving from Bink Video to an in-house one, changing windows syscalls in the code to linux ones. That would likely cost at least a month or 2 of man hours and a few $1000 in wages. Thus the porting effort sets them back and if they could not recoup that money it is just a bad business decision.

If we got vita/ps4/whatever free for preorder then they would be out like ~100,000 sales or something, they would have to sell that many of the game on the vita just to break even.

In closing it would be sweet if we got every starbound game ever made for preordering, but we likely will not because it would most likely do more harm than good. Best you can hope for realistically is Tiy to maybe give people a little coupon for a few bucks off (like 10% or $5 off). But even that is only if Tiy is just really super awesomely nice.

I'm guessing there is some sort of fee or revenue share setup to be on the Vita platform, so in all likelihood giving away a copy on Vita might actually cost the Devs money. For this reason alone it is unlikely to come with preorder.
