Will this be on steam?

I'll be getting it on Steam, got my friends hooked into buying it as well
I would pay any amount for this game, it just looks 'that damn good!'

 

I usually don't like asking, but do you have a source to back that up? Because as far as I am aware, you cannot access your games without your Steam account, and your credentials are invalidated when you are banned. It'd be lovely if I was wrong, of course.

This only covers bans by the VAC system, which doesn't really run in anything but Valve FPS games. You can get banned for other reasons, like if they think you sold your account (logging in from a radically different location) or you gift too many games, or anything under the sun because they won't tell you why you are banned. These types of bans WILL revoke your games.

Let's focus on VAC bans for a minute. Interesting how they have a automated system that auto-bans any cheats it detects - I just hope false-positives are low on that, because even if you are innocent, they expressly state here that they will not revoke it under any circumstances. Oh, and right underneath they say they won't tell you why you were banned. This is true for any form of Steam ban, after all, so it's all to be expected.

In any case, being able to play your games still does not apply to an Steam account ban, only a VAC ban. And honestly, while Valve is always well-meaning, no company should have the ability to remove your access to your games, potentially hundreds of dollars worth.

 

That is true, this only applies to VAC bans which are different than being banned from your Steam account, although it's not fair to say it only applies to Valve FPS games. Many other games use VAC as well, so it's a fair amount of online games.

If you violate your terms of agreement with Steam, you can get banned from your account and you will not be able to login in that case. VAC bans and account bans are two different things.

 

I was only talking about the VAC ban because that's what the guy I quoted was talking about.

 

If you get banned you can ask steam support at https://support.steampowered.com/
It uses a different account than the games do.
I've even read of people asking them two years late and getting the ban removed a day later.
Many people who complain about getting banned never contacted support at all.

In case you don't get a proper reply from the support within a few days you can post on the Steam forums.
Valve reads the forums and if the support isn't doing it's job for some reason the devs themselves step in and fix things.
I read the forums quite often and I've seen people get unbanned thanks to posting a thread and providing info on how it happened.

With all that said I understand why some don't like the system.
It's kinda like buying an MMO without a sub fee.
If you then get banned and the ban isn't removed your money has gone down the drain.

I buy most of my games on Steam these days, mainly because I live so far from stores.

I agree that they shouldn't be able to take away content that you've paid for, but imo steam is a great service and it doesn't make sense to not use it simply because of a 0.000000000001% chance you might be incorrectly banned.

Then again, most of my games I buy are $10-$20 and I spend 90% of my game time on TF2 or LoL which are free, so its basically a non issue for me. They could ban me and all it'd cost me was a few hours to find torrents for the stuff I had bought and still play semi-often.

This game is looking extremely likely to be a Day 1 Purchase for me, & I don't do that much! I'm also definitely getting the Steam Version as well... thankfully I have not had serious problems with Steam. *Knocks on wood*
