I find it hilarious, some of you are so upset about this, yet you don't realize that pretty much everything in the suggestions area will only be made in the form of a mod.
I must be insane or something, because in all my time in LoL (bout 200 games now) I've only found a handful of them to have BM besides the "Stop feeding, X" that comes around every now and again. No, really, I could probably number the games where i've been uncomfortable on my fingers and toes. The problem was that those games came at a specific time, levels 10-12 or so were by far the worst. Below that, I got a "it's all good, we're all kinda newbs" vibe; level 12+, I got to the point where most people have seen every type of moron to the point where their rage was spent. Levels 10-12, well, "a flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long" and that was a pretty short time. I had to restart 3 times to get through those levels. Even my friends that I would call "overly sensitive" to BMing didn't have that hard of a time. So with about 3 samples (me, my brother, and my "overly sensitive" friend), none of us have quit or hated the game for any length of time in LoL. I'm not really sure where the idea that League has a bad community comes from. DOTA2 on the other hand, I've played 3 multiplayer games of it, and in each one I got chewed out for being some sort of thrustbrick or pickwick. At that point I put the game down and went back to Leauge. Part of what I think is the problem, is that being bad doesn't just mean that you aren't pulling your weight, but a bad player is actively hurting the team, doing less than if he/she weren't there at all. This causes all sorts of problems, but I think that the biggest thing is that when a player is doing bad, that player knows he/she is doing bad, and hurting the team, but if the feeder leaves, then he/she has to wait to get into the next game. That dilemma inherently makes the player feel bad, so when some asshole starts talking crap, (s)he internalizes it much easier, and puts weight on those words. It's not so much that the community is bad, but that those bad experiences are weighted so much. I once thought that every game I had was awful, and then decided to do something interesting. . . I checked my game logs and realized that I had played many more games in between the bad games than I thought. While I thought that 2/3rds (66%) of my games were bad, when I checked my logs, I realized that I had actually played 3 games in between 2 memorably bad ones, a ratio of 2/5ths (40%). That was how I finally realized that I was putting undue weight on bad games over good ones. Once I was conscious of this, it was much easier to control my frustration at the game, and I started to enjoy it more. After level 12 was when I really began enjoying the game, as the BMing cooled off, I realized that I was coping even with those few bad games much better, found myself standing up for the support that was being told "WTF?! How do you have 0/3?" without even a second thought.
Why does that matter ? people are giving theire opinion on the OPs thread, thats what forums are for. and it just so happens that people passionately hate MOBA apparently. It basicly means a MOBA mod might be hard to come by
Not if you make it yourself. Modding isn't hard, and it's quite fun too. IN FACT, If starbound WASN'T modifiable, I wouldn't have bought it. (I like to make things)
That's because MOBA term is awfully generic, description (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) can be applied to most online games (even quake is online and have arenas...). It's like every bloody game is RPG now even if it's really a shooter. If I remember correctly it was invented by Riot so they dont have to cal Lol "DOTA clone" in their marketing materials I just call DOTA/HoN/LoL MOBA and all other "MOBA wannabe" . Descriptive name would probably have to be something horrible like "Action Real Time Role Playing Strategic Tower Defense" The problem is that "decent" ppl often just shut up and play, while morons just bitch and moan so it's easier to notice them. When you do well, you will get 'gj' in a chat, when you fuck up some moron will go "wtf was that, just go and uninstall"
I know and understand all of what you just said. I just didn't feel like elaborating on it in my post, there's no point.
