Will there be automated base defenses?

I wasn't sure if this was the correct forum, but it seemed to most likely.

Does anyone know if there will be turrets and things we can outfit our base with to keep enemies (especially PVP) out? So that it can be defended while we're out exploring.

Security cameras, sensors and alarms, etc to stop stealthers would be good too. Maybe after release.

 

We haven't heard of anything regarding things like this, but they do sound cool, I recommend you make a suggestion for 'em in the suggestion forums.
Although, knowing Tiy, he's probably already got some turret-thing on his mind.

 

There are many "Sentry Gun" and "Automated-Machine-Gun" threads around the forums. I feel they're a good idea and it is very possible they'll be in-game, but don't take my word for it, just stalk Tiy on Twitter 'til he lets something loose

Yes there will be security measured if you want to make them.

 

I like the idea, so long as there's a battery/energy system for buildings in the game to limit them.

 

if worst comes to worst and there is no security in the game, make your own.
In terraria I generally have my house in the center of a pit of lava that spans out 100 blocks from each edge of my house... its only a 3 block deep with a 1/3 deep lava pit (with an accompanying trench for item nabbing underneath it), but I've used 5 goblin banners at once and only had to deal with the luckiest of warlocks.
And we are almost guranteed a floating mode of transportation planet-side. don't be scared.

 

Haha, on your Galactic T.V. there will be a show called "Pimp mah Base".

 

Will there be? I have no idea!
Should there be? Would be pretty darn nice if there was! - though it would really only be worth making on very hostile planets, and they would need maintenance, be it by consuming power or needing repair. Wouldn't want to just be able to make a 30ft tall wall of Gatling Turrets, reducing every hostile being into a pile of atoms on sight. Well, okay, that could be pretty neat, but also somewhat overpowered

 

If there isn't, I have one thing to tell you...

SOMEONE WILL MAKE A MOD

 

I was really hoping for something like this to be put in... Especially because a nice wall between myself and my enemies is comforting, but if I can add a turret?

I'll just hermit in my house.

 

I think automated defences would be great, tesla coils and the sort would be cool just 'cause i like having a secure base.
