There are a couple of streams that shows actual gameplay testing (Bartwe, Chucklefishlive, etc.) and this is public.
So I'm sure that there is NO NDA

You could also just go to the about page and look at what they typed for Youtube. =)

Quote from somewhere on the forums.
Anyone playing the beta will be free to share what they've found (wiki), stream and youtube, share images, etc.

That text is from the list Blue made.

I acturally remember reading somewhere, that they would love for people to make "Let's Play"-videos Ect.
So no, it will not be NDA :)

    Official answer, no NDA,

    1. We didn't advertise it during the preorder sale, that's dirty.
    2. Many people who purchased the game are under 18, cannot bind them legally.
    3. There is no force on this planet which will keep 60k+ people's mouths shut unless we implement a North Korean style totalitarian dictatorship. All hail Tiy, Supreme God Ruler of Starbound Forums, even in death he reigns forever.

Oh thanks so much! (although I had no worry in my mind you guys would pull an NDA, I'm just thankful you guys are being very transparent about it) ^_^ Most NDAs for closed beta games usually contain a clause where basically if you design video games and your game looks vaguely (inspired even) off of the beta participated in, they can basically sue you for 'irreversible damage'. This is usually an issue because it could and would (most likely, depends on the company) be abused or 'misused accidentally' by their lawyers if you design video games, or even if you want to promote and share it on YouTube.

The absence of one is great for people like myself who do design video games, and for anyone who wants to share and create derivative works that promote the game

Of course they would. Youtube is one of the best free marketing resources for developers out there.

Chucklefish has done a SUPERB job of using the underground marketing scene for this game. They have spread the word and taken advantage of all the things that big AAA publishers try to stop us from doing because they "get it". They are gamers and understand the value of how the word is spread, and how the benefits of using all these mediums GREATLY outweighs any potential losses.

This is why Indies are becoming so much bigger. Indie developers are gamers that know how to make games for gamers. They aren't corporate shills the majority of the time that think technology is evil and that everyone is out to steal from them. They can see the forest through the trees and deserve our support when they do it right. Indies are making games how WE want them to be made. They sell them how they should be sold, and they market them the way they should be marketed. No BS.

I have littel problem supporting Indie games that care about their games. Starbound has done a much better job than most with the whole thing though. Starting with not having a half-assed junk website, which many do have unfortunately. This website is actually nice and I enjoy coming to it. Other Indie games not so much. Ugly forums, bad wesbsites, etc. Don't blame many of them because they don't have the manpower, knowledge, or the time to work on it, but it's still very nice to have a forum like this. This and Terraria have the best setups to keep the game's gamers and developers together in one place. :)

Dont underestimate the power of big companys with budget for marketing. They are so strong that they can created hypes for gamegroups (for example a random hype was zombis were many publish created games with zombies in it)
A good example is AC 3 so much marketing that was made in Canada and USA (i have lived in the time in Canada when the game was released) not only TV station even busses and station have advertised about AC 3. They have created a hype of this Game because of this uniqueness nobody could use this hype (only AC 3). It is a very expensive marketing strategie but you can only use this if you are 100% the game will be great if not the hype will turn aginst you. (In germany/ Austria / Switzerland we had a company called Jowood a big publisher that had face the consequences when a hype of a game turn agianst you (Gothic 3)

If we look at this YouTubers lets player in my country germany. We have a famous Youtuber called himself Gronkh. Every video of him (about 15 minutes 3-4 videos daily from different games) bring him over 250K-75K watchers per video... compare to the land (80 million) is that a lot. Believe it or not. He dont have a job anymore most of the time he spend to answer message from user or making lets plays.

Even the developer in europe hire him for they games as speecher like "The night of the rabbit" or "Chaos of Deponia" to increase the sells of the games.

So small Publishers use that as a marketing tool. Cheaper, less risky and if you know the game is good you will reach many people with it.

My apologies for the writing mistakes englisch is not my main language.

But back to the topic before the topic gets closed :halo:.

While the Puissant Magnanimous Superlative Benevolent Representative Democratic People's Republic of Chucklefishstan (PMSBRDPRC) might be a strange and wonderful thing, it could also just as easily turn into a great big pile of poptop doo. I think Omni's made the right choice in not establishing one.

They already have an Anagram: Choice Humanoids Used Classified Knowledge, Learning Everything From Interplanetary Space Hamsters.
I think a few countries would give Chucklefish complete control for a few days just so they could spend their time playing the game instead :p

    You missed the joke.
Nations that are brutal dictatorships choose long and wordy official names that make them sound like anything other than a dictatorship. For instance, they might claim to be a "representative democracy" (dictator: "I make the vote, and I represent our people!"), or a "people's republic" (dictator: "I am a person, I decide the vote, and this republic belongs to me!") I simply took it to its logical extreme.
