  1. Katorone

    Katorone Giant Laser Beams

I'm pretty sure the first few levels will be a tutorial in disguise.

  2. Zellman

You should put this Snippet from IRC in the Original Post, so that people have some more context.

Then perhaps your English Teacher would also not be long for this world if they were stranded and alone just like their character.

Study that Scout Book, kids. Be Prepared.
Dwarf Fortress's experience lies within it's incredible and ridiculous difficulty curve. It wouldn't be the same game with a tutorial. I hope toady never makes one. Only true rogue-like players will really enjoy the game, because you will die, and you will lose, but losing is fun!

I think as a general rule of thumb tutorials are put in games but with no doubt finding out what to do on your own is much more fulfilling and worth-while. If they do add a tutorial they should pull off a Mega Man X.

  6. Since it will be an Story Intro when we start, it will be immersible, and not only and boring Tutorial. :)

I'm hoping for minimal tutorials. We know there will be quests, so I'm sure they will show you the basics. I just prefer the Terraria method of "Just survive the night, you'll get the rest eventually". It's rare to see a game that allows you to organically discover things and feel like you actually figured out something, or found something on your own. It feels more rewarding to explore.

  8. I assume there will be a lot to discover and figure out than the game basics. This game is much more complex than Terraria or Minecraft could ever be, the Objectives here and the several types of content and gameplay require a bit orientation to players.
