Will Ships Be Deleted With Worlds?

I know that characters will no longer be deleted, but I do remember someone saying that worlds could "possibly" be deleted. However, in the game files, the ship file is seperated from the world file. Does this mean that only the world file would be deleted, or would the ship file also be deleted? The reason I want to know is that I want to customize my ship, and have a safe place to store my goods, but I don't want to make anything complex if its not going to be there forever.

You have to remember that Starbound is still in Stage 1 of beta. While your ships will probably be safe, there is absolutely no guarantee that it won't disappear eventually. Everything you build or design in beta should be done with the mindset that it make very likely disappear.

Honesty, don't get too attached to anything, especially in stage 1.

technically they mentioned player & ship more likely not to wipe.

All the world files are in a separate directory anyhow. If something was added to the generation, then that does not affect ships. Ship are in a way part of the character, but separate at the same time. That is certain things are saved in the ship file, while others are in the meta and player files...

The world files does not mean ship files, as those are 2 totally different things. o_O Well for the most part where the game is concerned....

Ships and Worlds do not directly interact with each other, so it would be unlikely that a change to the world would affect your ship (or character, for that matter). If you look at the way your things are saved, you'll notice you typically have a seperate file-thingy for ships, worlds, and characters. There's even ANOTHER separate file called UNIVERSE, which governs the universe.

I had to delete the universe once for a mod. I was drunk with power.

Technically there is no "world file" as every single world has its own file.

I honestly see no reason why they would ever need to reset ships anymore, because the typical reasons to reset worlds (ie: changes to world generation) don't even apply to ships. Even when they finally implement ship upgrades, there's no reason they would need to reset the initial ships for that either.

Of course, that doesn't mean it won't ever happen.

I couldn't remember what the exact extension is, so I was just using the general term "file". But yes, every world is its' own thing.exe

According to Tiy even if there is a world wipe it's still technically possible to backup your worlds in advance.

I doubt that there will be a ship wipe. However there are no guarantees since this is beta.
