you have to remember its not finished so they might have just let it spawn wherever while they test it

I noticed in one of the livestreams there were water creatures next to water, so I guess there's some

It could work in a Apex lab.

As I have said in a different thread, I haven't really grown fond of randomly generated monsters. I would rather want something with theme like the cat and robot rather than: "bull sized, four legged, space octopusqueen."

It's a huge concern and after seeing the stream with Tyi...

It has left a foul taste in my mouth

  6. We'll have to wait and see what Starbound will offer. I do like the idea of creatures being randomly generated, but I'd like a controlled generation (parts and colours matching the environment) in order to allow things to maintain 'sense', rather than having a jumble of parts.

The planets actually *will* be more or less a single biome. It "gives the planets more character"

But there WILL be MANY sub-biomes, and MANY different geographical features.

  8. I am aware of that information now. :) When I wrote that post, I was not. :p

    Thanks, still. :)

What concerns me the most about the randomly generated creatures is that their overall color does not match the environment in any real sense. To me, the color of the creatures is important when compared to the color of the biome where it exists.

I hope that the developers look into that and find a way for the creatures to have colors that fit the biome more sensibly. I'm completely fine with any parts they might have though, it's just the coloring that bothers me so far.

  10. The colour is also a pretty important factor indeed. However, some biomes could hold a myriad of colour choices, for example an "Exotic Jungle" biome. I can actually see all possible colours existing here.

Others would be more limited, like a "Frozen Wasteland"-type environment. For this particular one I'm more thinking something among the lines of blue, white, grey and such.

I'm looking forward to seeing how CF will handle this whole matter. :)
