that mod is insane, i'd never install it. is it true that in vanilla, it's capped at 500 fuel no matter how far you go?

It is capped at 500 in vanilla. Also, the mod isn't actually that insane. Maybe if you needed to travel hundreds of thousands of units distance it would suck, but I never need to. Also I could technically put like 20,000 fuel in my ship right now...

I would have to travel that far if i wanted to visit one of my alt's planets. I'm happy enough with vanilla, and hoping that the mod in question isn't called "frackin universe", as i have intentions to use "frackin universe" after i beat the game.

Um I have a starbound account and just now got a egineer......... is an egineer worthless? I really want to know because last time I remember is that an egineer gives you fuel and so does mechanic. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand should I get rid of my egineer? It's like it's UMMMMMMMM IDK WHAT THIS DOES............... (derp moment) Buut if you can let me know. Thanks!

The way crews function was altered a while ago, so that Engineers and Mechanics work differently than before. Engineers provide a speed boost, while Mechanics improve fuel efficiency. I'd say it's worth having one of each.

They no longer affect fuel, but your on-map travel speed. Mechanics increase fuel efficiency but not capacity.

These changes were made to stop them from eventually making the fuel tanks ungodly vast and reducing fuel cost to 0%.

Honestly it's fine to have one or two of either as your ship grows, and early on you should take whatever Crew you can get, since the extra help in combat is always welcome when your stats are low.
