You could select a size, couldn't you? But Anywho the world where always caped this far and not further,
loved the floating islands though! Loot and vanity items, equipment like the cloud boots of Terraria were just balls.

Hah - well the problem is how he worded the question.
"Why do you think Starbound is Better than Terreria"

Which automatically implies Starbound is better than Terreria.

To make a neutral question it should have been something like.
    • What features of Sstarbound ( if any) do you feel is better than in terreria?
    • Which do you feel is better Starbound or Terreria and Why?

Personally, I find Starbound to be better.
-I like the art style and the player models better in Starbound. Additionally, in Starbound you have a choice to be human or not.
-I watched a few videos on Terraria, which may have been outdated, but I wasn't really a fan of the animations for fighting and mining.
-Let's face it: Terraria isn't the best for multiplayer. It confines all players onto one 2D world, meaning that if you want to explore you need to walk through people's houses. Also, the world has probably been explored for kilometers in each direction. Where in Starbound multiplayer, you can have each member on the server with their own planet or solar system. You never have to meet other people if you don't want to.
-Also, my friends failed to convince me to buy Terraria but got me to buy Starbound. That may not mean anything.
    EDITS:
-The Terraria tools are too big and disproportionate.
-The Terraria character is too small.
    -Corruption/Crimson/Hallow sound like they suck.
-Bosses are a bit ridiculous in Terraria. I don't like the though of fighting a giant eye that splits into a mouth.

    ...Or it means everything!

well seeing that Starbound kind of grew out of parts from Terraria, it is of course better it can cancel out EVERY mistake and issue Terraria made/has.

    Because planets.

Lots and lots of planets - various environments, monsters, dungeons and an abundance of materials. That makes it almost impossible for you to run out of available resources.

I prefer Terraria personally, even though Starbound has better building mechanics, that's about it. (being able to place multiple blocks at once thanks to the matter-manipulator)
-It has more weapons, toys, combat, etc ( while SB may have that random gun thing, you're only ever going to use the legendaries because they are flat out better.... and 6/10 the random guns you find are impractical).
-Has more interesting weapons (the most interesting gun I found in SB was a low-energy costing sticky plasma gun that I used a flare gun.... and Terraria has a flare gun that lasts longer than 10 seconds.... so :/ )
    -More fleshed out monsters.
-Better progression (I don't need bloody darn money to craft armor or a boss spawning item)
    -Better and more bosses.
    -Combat is more satisfying.
-Oddly enough I found more blocks to build with in Terraria than in Starbound (Relogic keeps updating the game).
    -Exploration is actually rewarded.
-I don't have to worry about my world being destroyed.
    -You can actually stop meteors.
-Better mining (You may be surprised, but I can mine to the center of the Earth with a rocket launcher now in about 1 minute... also, if you press ctrl you almost auto-mine now... hell-o-vators are much more frequent now).

While Starbound may have potential, that's about it. It's dough right now.

Technically... to craft the flame thrower - and the other 2 guns which I can't remember off the top of my head - you need to kill the boss.

To get a lot of weapons you need to kill Terraria bosses (hence the reason they are "weapons", tools used to kill).

But at the very least it's also reason why they added the Star Cannon, an overpowered weapon that can be created shortly after you smash a shadow orb if I'm correct. The downside to the Star Cannon is that the ammo is crazy expensive (stars), a nice balance if you ask me.

The controls in Terraria feel more responsive and overall more tight. I get that there's variable gravity and such in Starbound, but the controls feel way more sluggish in Starbound.

I'd also like to mention that Terraria is also more fast-paced thanks to the Hermes boots. While one may think this is a bad thing that you'd just skip half the map, the problem is naturally solved. Flat, paved out areas are the ones you can run through, but rough, uneven areas such as caves, mountains, etc, cannot be.

I don't think Starbound is better than Terraria. Not yet. Starbound is a bunch of game features, but it isn't a complete game yet. Terraria on the other hand is a complete game, so Terraria automatically wins in my book

Terraria UI is a pain in the ass, Starbound's on the other hand is only a pain in terms of sorting, i don't like the chest UI either, Terraria got loads of items in the game, where Starbound is a W.I.P. on that.. you can't compare that, really.

Terraria is good! <> Starbound is good!

but Starbound grows out of Terraria (all issues from Terraria can be fixed)

kinda playing both games at the same time right now (latest version) like literally both at the same time, Starbound is open Terraria is open... so.... i enjoy Terraria, but i also enjoy Starbound.

By the time Starbound is finished Terraria 2 will likely be out.

If Starbound could just implement some form of bestiary.... It would have an upper-hand...

Oh! That's what I forgot to mention!
I like Starbound's bosses much better. Why? Because some of Terraria's bosses are ridiculous and overpowered.

  17. Dynafols

    Dynafols Black Hole Surfer

    At least they aren't exploitable.

Dirt is the most overpowered thing in Starbound. I literally killed the Skeleton Dragon with a tier 1 pistol by just shooting through a tiny hole from a dirt bunker. At least in Terraria it takes some skill to kill bosses, knowing when to avoid certain attacks, how to avoid them, which direction to move, knowing their weakness (the Destroyer is incredibly weak to AoE or piercing weapons for example). In Starbound, because the controls are pretty loose, bosses can be fairly unpredictable and fairly hard to dodge if you aren't buried in a pile of dirt... Most bosses in Terraria tend to give some form of warning as to what type of attack they are about to use, in Starbound... not so much.

Also, if you die to a SB boss, you better go back to grinding for a stupid amount of resources and money (seriously, why do you need money for something like that?). In Terraria, you typically don't need very many resources (15 lenses for a Suspicious Eye for example).

But that is the part I loved about Terreria bosses the epic boss fights. I really miss that
I killed the penguin boss by standing in a cave and shooting arrows. It was sad.
