Why the hell haters "hate"

Well, this is a spiritual sequel to Terraria so...Yeah...They totally copied Terraria. And that's, like, 99% of the reason I'm here.

Starbound being the spiritual successor to Terraria is a bad thing apparently..? I'm honestly trying to figure out what I said that pissed you off.

You might want to clean your fanboi goggles, pal. I don't know if you noticed but the basic premise of Starbound is basically Terraria. They added a butt-load more content, but it still takes the same concept of explore/dig/craft in a 2D side-scrolling world. This is by no means a bad thing, but if you're going to just pretend it doesn't exist then, well, you're nuts.

 

Whoever said it was a rip off of MC is a 2 year old kid that doesn't know what real games are.

 

Having similar gameplay mechanics doesn't make it a 'copy.' And no, the big attraction of Starbound is a science-fiction humongous ass sandbox. With your logic, every game is a 'copy' of another, seeing as how no mechanic is actually new. With your logic, Minecraft can be called a copy as well.

 

Stay on topic guys. Whether or not you consider one game to be a 'rip-off' or a 'copy' of another game is purely in the eye of the beholder. if you think it is, then it is(for you) but someone else thinking it isn't is not wrong either. Can we just agree to disagree. Then get back on track?

 

Welp, as long as you're all gonna be in denial I guess I'm somehow going to be the villain here. Starbound was based off Terraria, some of the same people are even working on it, them's the facts, deal with it. I don't know how Starbound being a pseudo-sequel is considered so horrifying but I guess logic doesn't apply here.

 

I'm more interested in if they actually believe what they are saying. I think a lot of people do because "block games" are not exactly a saturated genre yet so when there are only a few its easy to say they are copying each other, I imagine people said that about the first couple fighting games and fps games. Now they are both just accepted as a game type and no one calls every fps a Doom ripoff.

This game has so much to offer I have a hard time answering when friends ask "how is this different from Terraria", think it might be easier just to list what they have in common.

You know, haters just gonna hate. Haters apparently hate everything, or so I've been told. Never actually met one of the fabled "haters". They must be interesting to have so much attention.

Dude. Welcome to the vicious anonymity of the internet. People can say whatever the hell they feel like saying and the people that spew the stupid horse shit get the same screen time as the people that say the profound and wise tidbits. It's what I not-so-lovingly refer to as "a wretched hive of scum and villainy" - and with great reason.

 

I find it even more offensive and despicable when people just label people as 'haters' or 'trolls' as if their blatantly unimportant. Conflict and confrontation is essential for our views and knowledge to expand and broaden to other reasoning. Some people have valid points, and some people have reasons. Some people like somethings, other's don't. Labeling someone who disagrees with what you like as a hater just leads to close-mindedness, and disagreeing to just disagree is also the latter.
