Why the Heck Has This Happened?!?

Hello! Just a warning, this text will delve into rant-like proportions.

But, yeah, the thing that happened is that all of my characters ended up on the same planet. I don't kid. They all just hang around on that one planet. It's annoying, because I realized one of the characters could easily suck up the resources of the planet and leave everyone else there to die. I just hope that soon they'll fix this.

Hasn't that always been the case? I wish it wasn't the case, but I feel like that's nothing new.

You know you could always delete your universe folder every time you make a new character. That will regen the planet

So? Spawning on the same planet has been a thing since forever. Its nothing new, its allways been that way.

Just move to a new one. (You just need 20 core fragments to repair the basic engine allowing you to move for free within the system, keep a chest close to the beamdown point filled with them),

What a lot of people don't realize is that this blade is double-edged. You could suck up the resources, yes, that's entirely possible, but you could also leave a bunch of later-level stuff and upgrades, as well as material shortcuts to power through the tutorials, there with your more advanced characters, to boost your new ones.

I think they mentioned they planned on fixing it later on. The starter planet will be a unique planet for new characters.

same planet has not always been the case. In the nightlies it has been, mainly for testing purposes. I am sure they will change it back so each character has a beginning chance. When is another matter. I am thinking this is temporary for now, after all it is not out of beta yet. :)

I never played nightlies. It was also the case with the brief stint of multiplayer I experienced months ago.

Is... is this even an issue?

Shouldn't that decision be up to the person who's making the characters? There's cheat commands in the game, there's save editors, and there's nothing wrong with boosting your own characters through missions.

Well by default it is not the same planet.

In multiplayer servers the owner or person the sets it up usually makes it so people start on the same planet; known as the hub or similar. So whom ever sets up the server probably modified it so it would be that way. It does not function that way by default.

I only know due to the many conversations in the past about it, because several have asked how to get servers/single player to have all characters spawn on one planet. It has something to do with modifying the files obviously...

OK. All I know is by default I think it should be a different planet for everyone.

you can but all ore in a bo for the other chars and upgrade easy to fly around and fly to a other planet.
or you dig down on a other place on the planet.

you will never explore every point of the planet with one char

I disagree considering I've actually mined out an entire planet of every single block aside from a thin layer at the bottom to prevent death by lava. it took like about 3-4 days but it was an interesting experience.

then the planet must be a little one

Yes it is an issue. Eventually we'll run out of resources unless we delete the universe file which is a clumsy way to address the situation, nor should we have to cheese the system by leaving upgrade materials and such in containers near the warp point because at that point you may as well just let us skip the start planet and have our ship repaired by default.

That is what I am saying it was before this current update, and hopefully it will return to that eventually again.

Multiplayer servers are different from the default, as they modify the default to suit their taste, or what they are looking for; if not aim to do with the server.

Spawning on the same planet was never implemented into the Unstable. You're probably talking about the Nightlies.

No, im talking about stable. When i played stable (before nightlies was introduced) you generaly spawned on the same planet with new chars.

in the stable you spawn at different worlds.
in the nightly and the unstable after the winter update you start on the same planet on your pc.
other pcs or server has other start planets

Personally, I don't like starting on the same planet for new characters. One of the things I enjoyed was starting on a new planet and trying to figure out more about it. Sure, sometimes it meant I had trouble finding vines for bandages, but I was fine with that. I think the new first planet mechanic adds a bit more replayability, but if it doesn't return then I suppose thee's nothing that can be done.
