Why the game is not out yet (imo)

I think that I would rage because I don't like strawberry milkshakes. Also, her milkshake would bring all the boys to the yard... and people would be like... it's better than mine... damn right, it's better than mine.

I realize I'm not a part of this but I would like to say, after reading through you're posts, you seem a tad bit on the offensive. I understand that having a circular argument is frustrating, but perhaps it would help you you trimmed your posts down a bit and not reply in a way that seems like you are talking down to someone. That way when they reply they are less likely to nit pick and also you can always hold your head high as the bigger person. I know the bulk of your posts were not insults but the portions that were seem unnecessary...

FYI, there is no "industry standard" definition for a Beta, though typically it refers to a whole game that is ready for play. As of two weeks ago, NPCs weren't even dropping loot in SB, and they're just now getting the difficulty curves leveled out. In fact, the game has been unplayable without admin tools up until this point. Did you happen to catch the August 17th news post?

There's been a lot of mentions of "Early Access Beta" in this thread. Aren't these two completely different things? I'm thinking that you can't have both, only one or the other. Though while a Beta can be considered Early Access, having Early Access is not always a Beta. A Beta is mainly for stress testing, like in an Open Beta for an MMO, or to find bugs that the devs overlooked.

The devs have said time again that this is a Beta. To classify it as early access seems to be a little... wrong.

I understand, as I have said in a few of these types of threads, that 80 to 90% of the people here will not be looking for bugs but be looking at this as early access. A lot of people gave their money to help in the development of this game. There will be pitfalls, problems, and other things that get in the way of our intended goal, which is to play a great game. Getting bothered and badgering them isn't going to make them work any faster. The i49 demo could be just two planets with a few different biomes to give a taste of planetary interaction and how the warping system works. I for one would prefer them to work on getting us the Beta... or early Access... or whatever you wish to call it when they are ready, not when harassed.

 

I think that Totalbiscuit and Jesse Cox are getting the game earlier to do a lets play, so I guess that's the Early Access. Most people won't try to find bugs in the Beta. They may come across a bug, and they'll probably post it on the forms so the devs can see. That's what people should do, I'm not sure if they actually will.

 

Most people who play during the beta phase *don't* let the devs know about bugs and or glitches. Also, until we have actual confirmation that they're going to get an early beta, it probably isn't the best idea to talk about it.

 

I heard on either Tiy or TB's twitter that he was getting early access. Once I find it, I'll post it here.

I am guilty of that, sometimes I plum forgot, sometimes I don't really hit any, sometimes I think about if it is even fixable, and on the rare occasion I go to report it, it was reported 257 times. I like to report bugs but it is SO hard to do anything but confirm them on popular games/programs. So I just ignore them. Now on things like this game I am testing for a peer, I will bug report the hell out of that cause their is only a small team of testers. I will try to remember to report bugs in starbound, but I will likely just give up on it unless it is some rare bug no one has found. Typing "Confirmed Win7 64-bit" or "Confirmed Linux Mint 64-bit" bores me. 8C

I would rather the beta come out for everyone at the same time and not just giving to two people just because they can do youtube videos of it. I would rather be playing than watching two guys I could care less about.

 

I would just like something at this point, a planet to demo, a portion of a planet to play on, something tangible for the money would be nice. I know yada yada its done when its done but I can honestly say I'll never ever pay for a beta like this again. Nothing but actual early access for me from now on. I have even been losing interest in the daily news on this site, I just don't care anymore I only look for beta or at least an estimate of when beta or whatever version this will be will be out. Can call me a troll also if you want I know I don't have many posts, but thats because I don't actually have a game to post about, just speculation and screenshots at this point.
