Why randomly dropping "superior" brains is an inferior idea.

Personally I like random drops. Like in Dark Souls or Terraria there are lots of unique enemies that will randomly drop a cool or collectible item that may take hundreds of them to kill. I don't like just being able to craft or find everything in chests. I hope later on there's more unique enemies you can find like the monster contest ones.

I agree with a lot of the stuff in here about RNG for required progression being incredibly irritating, and I love (sarcasm) how some people STILL aren't getting the point: Just because YOU didn't have a problem getting the Superior Brain, that doesn't mean NOBODY had a problem getting the Superior Brain.
Personally? I got it on my first shot with the freaking brain gun. But I still feel for the guy who took a lot more.
Then I went on a mass-murder spree with the brain gun because I thought there would be some OTHER use for the Superior Brain, something that gave you a REASON to keep using it.
Eventually I found out there wasn't and I got mad.

So, superior brains actually DO exist? I thought that it didn't after 200 Inferior Brains

EDIT: Right after posting this I finally got one.

Well, to be fair, in those games you can speed up the process using various means. In Dark Souls, you can get lots of humanity and certain equipment items to increase rare item drop rates, and in Terraria you can build monster farms to speed up the process.

On all of my characters, it's only ever taken me a few minutes of monster killing to get a superior brain, but I can sympathize with people who had to go through 200+ monsters just to get one. I think maybe the drop rate for superior brains should increase depending on planet threat level, and that hostile NPCs should have a guaranteed chance to drop one.

I agree with this. I've killed over 200 monsters now with the brain extractor and I haven't gotten a single superior brain. It's really annoying and all I want to do is get that one brain to advance.
