Now? Definitely. But mods came much later than those first alpha releases.

I concur  But that's not what I was trying to say in the first place ;)

  4. Yes, I know Devs said that once, but the real state of the game is Alpha, when the features are all there, it goes to BETA, and then they are able to launch it... That lead people in the way of thinking "Hey BETA is already running they are almost ready to launch it", but no, there are so many things as stated and saw waiting implementation on the game.
    Eh!

Actually mods started coming out as soon as Survival mode was implemented, they just weren't that used because MC was updating every week which meant the makers of the mods had to update their mods every week, as well as those using said mods. Now it's just every month or so and half the time the changes require them to rebuild their mods from the ground up every 2-3 months. :V

Oh. NoNo. I get what you're saying. I was just saying, I was going off of what one of them said way before.

    Because Vanilla is awesome! xD

  8. Minecraft is special uh, even if it crashed every 10 minutes, it would still sell millions. It impressed all the game industry, how can MC be the most sold game of all times, sigh! o_O

  12. And EVEN that way, every Minecraft Version is NOT MOD friendly... It breaks them all, make servers using MODs unplayable of need to reset maps, etc... etc.. etc...
    Madness? Yes Sir.

It's definitely impressive and one of the most selling games ever, I'm not denying that :D But still... for me MC is still "meh" :p

Axerron, Minecraft is just the first point where large masses of developers started realizing that sandbox games have pre-emptive power over any other genre. Its not even a finished game and yet people still love the concept because they get lots of implied choice and input from it.

I believe releasing a beta for us sooner rather than later would be better. A few of the obvious ones being if they actually want bug reports and time to fix, only a month or two to get this done won't cut it. Also something a lot of people don't anticipate, what if the dev team of ~10 people somehow thought up a system or situation or rule or whatever you can think of that wasn't the best way, and the community brings this up with good reasoning and it gets changed before release for the better. A short amount of time will again not cut it for this.

The biggest thing holding back beta is not enough of the features are done. Personally i would not be disappointed if it was given to us as is, then as new features are complete they are added in. Back on the timeline thing if features are added as completed as opposed to everything all in one go that gives more people utilizing the specific features more readily. For example if farming was not a feature that was complete right now and we got beta, then two weeks later farming makes it in you will notice a larger portion of people using and testing it, which amounts to more and better quality bug reports, which is better fixing. The all in one go really does question the reasoning of a beta to be honest.

Also on the subject of playing the game for fun, i'd ask the devs and the other specific people invited in to look at any times and how often you look at the game in it's current build and think "i think i'll play starbound for a bit". No testing (intentionally), just playing. You have fun doing so. So would we, and we cannot. But i think i'm not overstepping it when i say there are some members of this community whose desire to play this thing is outweighing their desire to wait for everything to be tip top before they can. I can safely say i am one of these people. I am judging this by the lighting, water mechanics, building mechanics, and the fact that the planet generation is obviously in place. I would be elated to play the game i've seen in the streams and other demonstrations just as they are, and they were months ago.

  19. If there was an option when BETA announced to "input your email and gain the chance to be at the BETA!" it would be open beta enough! :D
Even the Pre-Order seems to be a huge amount of people, still limited to us. ;)

Yes, Minecraft is "Meh", but it's "GOD SandBox Games where they Generated SandBOX Unlimited Dollars".
EA must be so jealous.
