Why isn't there crawling in starbound?

    There have been soooo many times when I have run into a 2 block high cave and Ive tried to crouch and walk but it never worked

    Try the Morphball tech. Otherwise, you just gotta widen the cave until you can fit, if you can.

    If you wanna suggest crawling as an addition to the game, there's a forum section for that. I suggest using the Mechanics subsection.

    The same reason why Metroid invented the morph ball. The devs didn't want to implement crawling mechanics and animation.

    We have the glory that is the amazing Morphball Tech. Crawling is just not as good or as fast.
    Even if it is drastically weaker and technologically inferior to Samus' Morphball, it is still very flexible.

    You can even use rocket boots and energy dash and the like while being the ball! It's awesome.

    I seriously do wish they'd return a version of it that costs less energy and can drop bombs (return it please T.T) for a little energy.

    How often do you NEED to crawl when you can carve out a bigger tunnel?

    Keep in mind every new movement added to the game requires drawing frames for every race and every associated armor piece.

    Say there are 70 armor pieces 50 Full set Vanity [ Head - Chest - Legs - Fore Arm - Backarm ]
    40 single piece vanity items + 10 Backpacks

    So that mean a minimum of 650 new frames would have to be drawn - if only a single frame was added.
    If it was 3 frames it would be 1950 new frames to be drawn.

    So ya - adding new frame animation is not easy and can grow exponentially the later in development it gets.
    Morph ball is the fastest solution to a simple problem.
