Why is it always night time?

Every time I beam down to a planet it is night time, never day. Whether that's just a coincidence, bad luck or whatever - I've never beamed down to a planet in the day time in the 86 hours I've been playing. Is it just me?

Wait a bit, are you referring to the beam down or the entirety of all the time spent on the planet?

Cause if the latter, It really should happen, most likely just a glitch.

If the first, you have amazing skills at apeasing RNGesus, even if by acident and stuff ya don't care about.

Like me for getting the "Just Plain Lucky" achievement in cookie clicker.

Hmm.. no you are not the only one. Although i have beamed down and was day a few times, but mostly has been night time. It really depends on how long you have orbited the planet. Like my recent excursion, mining what I wanted of a human prison facility. I had to beam down several times. 75% of the time it was night, but the other % was day. Once was at night, but early morning if makes any sense, as it turned day some time after...

Well it does vary, and I am unsure it is rng or something like that. Since the day length is labeled on each planet; not to mention maybe the only rng is the initial orbit porting' down. Far as I know, on ship time is more fast. So waiting a bit before beam down will be a different time of day on the planet. Well in my experience. I don't really worry too much as the lantern stick thing keeps me company...:) that and I can see things at night in general...

Yup, only when I beam down is it night time but that's usually immediately after entering orbit so perhaps it is more frequently night when you enter orbit. Speaking of keeping track of the time I have so far not found a way to keep track of it - there aren't any clocks to craft for example. There are glitch clocks but they don't tell the time.

On the subject of a planet that's always night time, no I haven't had that although that sounds like it would be a pretty cool planet type if it were added - total darkness for lack of a star so your only recourse is to use the flashlight or other form of light which scares off creatures, which attack you when you're in darkness....hang on, that's Pitch Black.

An always dark planet due to perpetual cloud cover or some such phenomena would be cool, as would possibly being able to find some clusters of planets that don't orbit a star.

I feel like a night/day tracker would be immensly helpful. Maybe a smartwatch that you can make at the robotic crafting table that will automatically adjust to the night/day cycle of whatever planet you're on, showing you some indicator that will update in the toolbar, kinda like the clock from minecraft. Course, at the moment there's not that much different at night other than being harde to see since they removed the temperature system.

I think you'll like the Penumbra planet type from sayter's Frackin' Universe :) I'd also love a clock of some type, either carried in the inventory/toolbar or as an item you place on your ship.

I've noticed that if I beam up from a planet during the night, when I beam down again it'll be day, even if I've only spent a few moments in my ship. Vice versa if I leave a planet during the day, it'll be night when I return.

The first beam-down seems to be 50/50 chance of either, and I've had a few dawn/dusk beam-downs as well.
