Why I don't like Starter Pet Stretch

The fact is the Devs asked, the vote was cast at 66% for 34% against or something like that, but now that I see this vote, I noticed at least 3/5ths of the people who voted either didn't like the pets goal or didn't really think it suited. so I can see why people are a bit cut, when they have been asked and then disappointed. I'm not whinging btw, I don't mind pet's but I do think it's way cliche.

 

My monitor is pretty big, I don't want a bunch of annoying sprites running around when I'm trying to do stuff.

 

You can uh, play alone, or go to a different planet that doesn't have players if you're on a server. If its your friends doing it... then politely ask them to put the pets away. I'm neutral to this entire thing, I just encourage and understanding. Don't hate, appreciate.

 

Really, playing alone would not maximize this game's awesomeness. Just give me an option to not be able to see them....

Reading this and these posts I feel really pathetic and wish I could have stayed up at 3am to be on the forums to discuss our dislike for the pets...

Too many people felt pressured to lea towards the admins and devs predetermined mostly all I respect and not fully accessing a wasted idea to be used for pets. I think the devs are going to see a lot of the communities hate, and make the BEST pet system there is just to make us happy! But I'll be pissed to a boil when everyone who blindly followers Chucklefish's choice and say "We told you they wouldn't let us down. You complained about the pets, what now?" Oh, the oncoming arguing in inevitable,

 

We can suggest an ingame device you can place within vicinity that will force everyone's pets to go back to their container. I don't like cluttered screen too. Imagine 10 persons with pets = 20 objects moving around.

 

Exactly what I was visualizing.

 

All the likes. Yes all of them. Maybe then people will stop posting these silly threads about starter pets.

 

They could always do the torchlight thing which is allows us to use them as extra inventory slots or they could offer like farming buffs or something not an amazing idea but could be onto something that makes starter pets worth it

 

I only disliked how Molly was trying to boost everyone's opinion by saying it wasn't 1mil. or at least hinting it.

 

they didnt have a confimred price at the time the yprobably decided on 1 mill since thats where everyone else wanted the next goal to be

 

I wouldn't Like my pet to be taken away just because one person doesn't like them.

Plus, nobody wanted the pets to be 1mil, if that's what you are trying to say.

 

community kept sayin 1 mil dollar goal thats where they wanted the goal. obviously once it was revealed what the goal was the satisfaction rating plummeted since they were expecting more than starter pets

I feel its a welcome addition, also it shouldn't delay the game as molly has stated. That and in the op of the starter pet stretch goal thread molly admits they weren't expecting this much support so they might not have had things planned out this far (or past this for that point) and as a result not every stretch goal will be a new race or gameplay feature. Besides, the galaxy is an awfully large place, it could be quite some time until you find other living being, (that you like) a pet would make for some nice company.

I think , everyone is upset because there's already a pet system in-game.
everyone thinks that the starter pets is useless because of that fact.
but if their optional then that will be fine with me.
i just don't want to start the game with a pet that has a light or gives me boosts. or holds stuff.

i think that stuff you should have to work for to get...

 

As long as they have a cool purpose, starter pets sound great. Like unique abilites to help with quests and such. That'd make them really cool.

 

Well then here's my question:

Do you want a stretch goal that will make the beta released way longer or a stretch goal THAT IS SIMPLE, and make the beta released sooner
