Why don't people use the Hylotl?

The Hylotl is my favorite race, but not that many people don't seem to use them. Why is this? Yes, some of their armor is kind of ugly, but if you don't like it, you can just cover it by putting different clothes in the visual slots. I personally think they are pretty awesome. I mean they're samurai fish. Who doesn't like samurai fish?

 

Because Floran is the best race.

But really, I don't like the way they look, with their beady red eyes.

 

My only other character is a Hylotl because I'm a sucker for kimonos they get.

That is really a personal preferences, and only way to truly know if it's the least used is to check the data from every game client. So I have no clue if your statement is factual. Also I hope this does not turn into a what is your favorite race thread their are so many of those.

 

Communists, that's who! And cats, surely, unless they are ninja cats, in which case they find them to be worthy opponents and delicious as well.

I've only made human characters thus far, and with a small set of clicks to the random button, as getting attached to a character that will surely end up getting wiped is a silly thing to do.

 

Haven't played one, but I randomly generated one and got the name Twerkwaltzer... So that might change.

My first was a Hylotl, but I started to get annoyed by the noise they made when he took damage. I do like their style thought

 

I'm sure people use them. As someone who is currently playing as one, they're pretty awesome. There's just less people on the forums as opposed to people playing the game.

 

Fishy (or even aquatic) type races aren't the kind that appeal to me playing as.
But I was honestly unaware they were all Samurai....so this may change.
I am a sucker for kimono's so I'll at the very least be looking for their clothing blueprints

 

My first character was a Hylotl. I plan to main one when the game is finished, but until then I'm just playing around with all the races.

 

I would maybe use it as my main if not the male looked so darn ugly.
This far it looks like i will be using the Novakid, but if i ever make a female
character then theres a big chance i will use the Hylotl.

I'm the same way. It adds a level of immersion for me to play as a human that sorta looks like myself. I will definitely play other races in the future, but for now, I'll enjoy my little human!

 

First character = Hylotl
Second = Human
After Wipe = Hylotl

Personally, I don't think they look as cool as some of the other races. I mean, sure, their lore is awesome, and the whole "Samurai Fish" idea behind them is cool, but walking around as a fish person with big beady eyes is not what I would prefer to portray myself as.

 

FIrst character was one, pre-wipe, was named Deathworrier (RIP, weird buddy!) And I think the reason people tend to avoid them is simple: their name is hard/iffy to pronounce/spell Can't flub Avian, Apex, Glitch, Floran, and if you mess up Human, well then, alien, welcome to Earth! We'z all hooman here

Seriously though, I do think that's it.. Granted, part of it is their "cuteness/badassery" level, where people see floran/avian as the cuter species, and apex/human/glitch for looking tough.. I relate Hylotl to Mordin Solus from Mass Effect series, and though I don't particularly love the series (my fiancée logged probably 1000 hours ((seriously)) between the three and I sat through at least half of that as a viewer), I do love some Mordin I PROPOSE A NAME CHANGE FOR HYLOTL! Something less scrambly!! Thoughts?!

EDIT: Some (not necessarily good) suggestion names that are as simple as the others: Aquos/Aquas, Marinns, Hydrox, Phibs/Phibions, Reefluxii, Waddas, Croakas, Slymies/Slimese, Nautans/Nautics, and I may be out of ideas
