Because Starbound is the only known me a game that has so much content. In addition, a randomly generated world and the items are exactly what I've been waiting a long time.

I love it, because i loved Terraria, but when you reached a point you had done everything :L whereas in Starbound, the possabillitys seem endless, the amount of ways you can play the game, the quest, it all seems so unique, the fact that everything is random draws me to the game, it just seems like a solid good idea just the way it all works :)

I won't say that I love it until i play it, but I can say that it caught my attention by showing how great opportunities for role-playing it can provide.

Sci-Fi themed space sandbox.. come on.. it hasn't gotten this good in the gaming industry since the Nintendo 64 lol

I love 2D RPG games, and while Starbound doesn't have mechanics like leveling up and skill points. It's still pretty much my dream game.

I love that they're waiting to release a "feature complete" version of the game as a beta, rather than trying to cash in on a fad and releasing what is quite obviously a pre-alpha version of the game as a beta.

I love it because it looks like it has a really unique and interesting world that's being put to good use with the gameplay. I love Minecraft because of how powerful it is as a tool for building things, but I get bored with it really fast when I'm just playing it "normally" and trying to survive because the world is kinda generic and boring and the combat and monsters are quite limited. Terraria didn't do it for me either. Starbound looks like it's going to be a different story.

What really made me fall in love with Starbound, were the words, "Sandbox", "Universe" and "Exploration" put together. I love all things space and just the thought of being able of exploring planets and meeting civilizations and aliens and finding artifacts and treasures and loot and build and destroy and kill stuff in a game, makes my cosmic dust clouds twist in all sorts of happy ways. I've been hoping forever to find a really good, sandbox space-exploration game, with a truly extensive universe, without any constricting plots or boring old gimmicks, that prevent you from freely exploring SSSSPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaceeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......

I love that I paid $15 for an awesome soundtrack and am getting a free game to go with it. :D

Haha I feel the same, actually listening to it as we speak, and it goes really well while adventuring in GW2.
In response to the thread: I got incredibly into Terraria (I know right) and while looking for extra on that game I found Starbound. After looking into it a little more I got more and more exited. The art style, the scope, the bits of information we get every day, the focus of creativity and survival and exploration. There's so much about this game just "clicks" for me. I haven't been this exited for a game pre-release....ever. It's going to be wild and crazy!

    Well to be honest...

With no knowledge of what the game will turn out to be once I get my sticky hands on it, I really don't no why I am so excited for it.

I think one of the reasons I'm so excited about this game is because I remember how hard I fell in love with Terraria, then one day realized that there was nothing else to do. I'd already done everything i could possibly do in the game like twice....and I was a little hearbroken (and...well...bored). Starbound is almost infinite. <3

I love Starbound (and Chucklefish) because it is not a game created to sell for profit, but one made from the passion and nurturing process of genuine game developers. The amount of sheer content and replay value is evolutionary to say the least. At the same time, it can be a little overwhelming because I am afraid that ones I do try Starbound, any other game will pale in comparison to it. Which is a good thing, of course! :)
