Why do you love Starbound?

This question came to me while I was watching this video,

And while I was watching it, I realized "Wow, look at how nice and unified all those races look when they're together, doing stuff." which is actually my favorite part about the video, well, besides the building parts in general. Seeing how great the multiplayer aspects look and feel makes me really anxious for the game. So I ask, members of the Starbound forum, what aspect of Starbound shown to us so far made, or is making you, fall in love with the game?
It seems like a weird question, and it's probably been asked before, but yeah.

I love Starbound because the cake isn't a lie, and it's gameplay looks phenomenal. I mean, who wouldn't want randomized weaponry then build a base to fight off hoards of random creatures?

Because it's a great collection of ideas being implemented very well.

I don't love starbound. I haven't played it, so I don't know what is to love and what isn't. I don't know what armor to get. I don't know the types of biomes. I don't even know how high you can jump. We just have to wait and see as what is to love and weather or not to love it.

    I like starbound. because...
Its funny actually, i just LOVED terraria and played it like crazy, but after a while, i was wishing for something that offered even more and was sci-fi based. No kidding !
Then i found out about starbound and immediatly felt like it was the perfect match. As time goes on, i get the increasing feeling chucklefish is making the game based on my own tastes if you see what i mean ;)

I like the community based things in the game. It has so much potential for roleplaying and community based events that I feel it rivals even AAA MMORPGs. I know it isn't an MMO, but it seems like it was built with the idea of filling that part with large multiplayer servers.

Because of the possibilities, you can build, explore, fight, farm, dig, swim, run, shoot, fly, make friends(with animals I mean) and other very cool stuff.

  12. because it comes on Steam, I love Terraria-like games, devs giving feedback everydays

Because nostalgia man, nostalgia... it's an old school style game and in addition it has plenty of things to do and discover in it.

So far, Starbound is looking like my idea of a perfect game: easy to learn, hard to master. Lots of gameplay features that compliment each other; a galaxy of planets to explore; quests to accomplish. Beyond gameplay, I'm really loving the art direction the game's going - lots of nostalgia juice flowing here!

And lastly, the devs are keeping us informed and respond to posts. (Granted, the game's not out yet, so we don't know how they'll handle troubleshooting, but so far they are looking really good.)

Because last time I checked, GOOD video games were really hard to come by in this day and age. The market is oversaturated with brown-n-bloom shooters and other garbage that's a ripoff of other games, and reviewers get paid to give them top scores.

This game? Something else. It's ACTUALLY good. ACTUALLY has content. Unique, full of things to do, lots of replayability, the lot of it.

I honestly cannot say that I 'love' Starbound until I actually have it in my hands.

I will say that it most certainly looks like I will very much enjoy it, but love? Too soon to say. I'm not much of a builder and more of a miner and resource collector. For all we know, the process of getting ores and stuff from multiple planets will be incredibly tedious in hunting down the right planets in relative sequence to progressively mine better and better stuff instead of having it all centralized into one world.

But first impressions are important, and so far, first impressions of the game from this distance, I say I will at least like it at minimum. If this thread is somehow still going once this hits closed beta, obviously I can gush here proper later.

I like the style, yesterday watching the stream was like you could feel you playing the game.
It may sounds strange but, the music and background sounds are in sync with the scene so it's immersion overload.
I love when games do that kind of stuff! Also waving trees were looking pretty awesome.
Also the fact that you can somehow increase the size of crafted objects got me hooked.
It was in the stream yesterday, he could increase the size and shrink certain objects so he could just craft a group of pixels rather than the full object.
This would increase the crafting stuff even more because you can fiddle stuff out of anything.
Well and all the random items will get me hooked for a long time.
I like playing borderlands 1 and 2 and i loved farming random items just for the sake of it.
I can't wait to get my hands on starbound

I think I will love the exploration part most. I love to explore and find new places. I will jump from planet to planet looking for stuff. Eventually I will find a world I could love with a glorious sunrise (like the one in the music video they just did) and build a village, town or whatever and populate it with people. Then when I get powerful and bored... I will start again with a new universe.
