Why are Mushroom men so mean to Floran?

After seeing all those Floran prisons, I wonder what do the Mushroom men have against Floran? Are there any codex that talk about it?

Can't we all be plant brothers and sisters?

 

Well, mushrooms are typically kept in the dark and fed a diet of manure. Maybe they got sick of their treatment at the hands of Floran, and turned the tables?

Also nothing is cannon yet on the reason just like Hyoltls and Floran.
In theory I think it's because they are a fungus. Majority of fungus's are related more to humans than to plants. Genetically.
Florans might see them as a half breed? Unnatural? This is all speculation of course though.
Nothing will be confirmed until new info appears.

 

Um, if you do a google search on Jack Handy, you'll notice that all of his "deep thoughts" are pretty silly or downright nonsensical. They're jokes. Thus, labeling them as "deep thoughts."

Also, I find it entertaining that at least one race out there actually treats Florans like the dangerous war criminals-in-waiting that they are. This means that I can go attack them, because they expect it.

After all, karma says that if I'm a jerk to someone, they did something to deserve it.

 

To answer that we would need to know the mushroom culture. Are they pacifists like the Hylotl? Maybe they locked the Florans to prevent violence. Are they carnivorous (or should I say vegeterians)? Then the Floran is in food storage. There are many possible explanations.

 

Dry humor doesn't work on the internet without clarification. People will take it as seriousness.
When you say one race that is incorrect. All races are suspicious of Floran and Hyoltl see Floran as a threat.

Are people forgetting Florans eat everything, including other sentient plant beings?

I find dry humor to be even funnier online for that exact reason. There's a fine line that you can cross, but if you don't it's hilarious.

 

I think dry humor works very well most of the time, but there are always exceptions. Here, the quote was 90% serious until the final part, which may or may not have been recognized as being completely silly. Also, what Jbeetle said. I like dry humor that is not at anyone's expense. I don't like dry humor that hides insults.

Also, I should have clarified. Florans openly talk about eating other people. Mushroom people imprison Florans. Other races talk about being suspicious of Florans. Mushroom men are the only ones that take action against Floran, therefore that mushroom man you found is one fun guy.

Without knowing much lore about the Agaran(not even knowing if there is much lore for them yet), I get the feeling that the Floran and Agaran have somewhat of a rivalry, perhaps due to the fact some species of fungi(IRL) will sap resources from plant-life, eventually killing them off. Whether this is part of the idea behind the rivalry, or that they're simply two races with similar origins that have grown a distaste for each other given that Floran don't recognize the importance of non plant-life, could be the opposite that the Agaran don't recognize the importance of non-fungi life.

 

They're jealous that they don't get to be a playable race, so they take it out on the closest relative.

The Mushrooms reproduce and spread through the galaxy by infecting Floran with spores. Floran goes to new planet, has mushroom chest-bursters.

 

It's like an inter-stellar STD.
