Who here is playing a Hylotl?

They are based on the Axolotl, an amphibian that looks like a reptile.

They aren't supposed to be fish, but people always jump to that conclusion.

 

I'm sorry but they look like fishes to me, even got fins and gill-like cuts(official artwork), so there's no way around that for me unless the devs clearly state otherwise.

I love the Hylotle. By far my favorite race.
I mean, who wouldn't love a samurai fish?

My main is a Hylotl. I have a rule that I always play the lizard/fish/amphibian race if one is present in the game. Plus I want to build an underwater base.

 

I'm also playing as a fish/frog/thing.

They need to add Hylotl villages and ocean planets soon.
If they don't, one of the other races might tempt me away...

 

I've been playing Hylotl, but I dislike the third eye, and also I took a sneak peak at the tier 10 armor, and it looks super ugly. So I might switch over at the official release to a human.

 

Sad, but true.

They are great fun, though some armor does look a tad odd, they look great in hats!

 

But their I think titanium gear is god-tier if you replace the head with a bandit mask. I had that as my cosmetic setup ever since I got it.

 

I don't want to be turned into sushi.

 

There is only one fin style I like on the Hylotl, and it's the one that actually looks like hair. Otherwise, I do enjoy their weapon and building aesthetic. Armor is okayish. I love some of their clothes however. I have mixed opinions about this race. If I could craft theme appropriate blocks that match the Hylotl architecture (and actually run into a few villages for references) I might be swayed into playing as one. Right now, I really like the Floran look as a person, but I'm not all too ecstatic about their architecture, armor, or weaponry, though there is still so much more of every race left for me to see.

Also, Tier 9 futuristic samurai armor! How can you not love that!

I did play a Hylotl named Salt Water until he was brutally murdered by a wipe. RIP.

I'm seeing a very interesting theme. Many of the Fish-People have white skin. Sadly, it's about the only skin that looks good on them. At first I did not like my fish person, but it's growing on me. I really do love the hit sounds when they take damage. They don't really *feel* much different than humans or Avians. Their mannerisms and speech patterns are very much human-like, whereas the Florans talk like they've been in caves for 10,000 years. I don't like the Racial Armor of the Fish-Ladies, but I play with my boyfriend and he makes whatever racial armor he's wearing for my character instead. I also don't like that their racial weapons are so much slower than other races. They're super slow compared to the avians, but they still deal the same damage!
