“Who are you?” I asked. “That’s a long story boy.” The old man said. He appeared to be in his late fifties, he was tall, tan, dirty, and the clothes he had on looked like they hadn’t been washed in a very long time. “I have a lot of time.” I replied. After considering me for a moment, he croaked out: “Have a seat then, and I will tell you.” I pulled a rickety wooden chair out from the table and reclined in it, hoping it would support my weight. “For you to understand who I am, you must first understand where I came from. Approximately five thousand years ago, there existed a planet called Earth. Earth was the home of humanity and had been since the dawn of time. In the year 2041, the governments of Earth decided to unite in a collective effort to further explore the depths of space; the resulting program was called The Starbound Initiative.” ”After twenty years of development, a breakthrough was made; the first warp drive was successfully built and tested. With this new warp technology, we were able to travel much farther distances in much less time. The human race spread far and wide in mobile space stations across the galaxy, and for two hundred years we prospered; finding new and valuable resources on barren planets, but never any other life… Until a deep space exploration vessel called Atronomark found a planet designated KR-1036.” The old man broke off here in a fit of coughing, “Grab me that bottle of the shelf over there would ya’?” he asked me. I retrieved the bottle and he uncorked it, it smelled of oil and some kind of spice. After taking a hearty draw from the bottle, he offered it to me but I declined. “Ah yes, KR-1036. On that damned planet, the research team from Atronomark found a sentient race they named the Atronians. The Atronians were as technologically advanced as we were, and just as curious. After weeks of establishing stable communications with the Atronians, we learned that they had a similar goal to ours; however, they had been much more successful in finding other life forms. The Atronians, who had at first seemed fairly peaceable, revealed themselves to be quite violent in their conquest of the galaxy. We broke off contact with them after learning that they had been responsible for the destruction of many species, sentient and other.” “The Atronians were greatly angered at our cease of contact, for we had been sharing our knowledge of the galaxy, and demanded that we continue the exchange of information. Admiral Cassius Lemans refused the Atronians’ demands, stating that they had ‘committed crimes against life and the entire galaxy’.” “The Atronians took the Admiral’s words as a declaration of war, and in the resulting attack, destroyed the Atronomark on its way back to the nearest station. The Atronians didn’t stop there though, they raided human ships and colonies half way back to earth. They were finally halted at a sector of space nicknamed Trafalgar after a famous ancient naval battle on Earth. The late Admiral Lemans’ successor, Admiral Alexandrov Yaroski, led all available human ships into battle against the Atronians. We smote their ships in that sector and left the wreckage to burn.” “After the battle of Trafalgar, a message was sent out to all humans to return to Earth, for the galaxy beyond our solar system was deemed too dangerous a place. And we forgot, we moved on. For years after the battle, there were orbital defense stations built around Earth to protect us in the event of Atronian retaliation, but those stations fell into disrepair, and Earth lived on in peace for the next thousand years.” “I need to take a break and rest my voice.” He said. “I’ll wait.” I replied. He closed his eyes and began to snore. I will continue this story, I had to cut it short due to time restraints. Thanks For reading! feedback is appreciated!
It's hard to comment on this when it's in such an early state. From what's there, it seems like it'll make a good story. Keep it coming
Atronians.... reference to Elder Scrolls Argonians??? But in all seriousness, this story sounds truely Awesome. Even EPIC!!!
