In this iteration of him, he may just looks like a delicious piece of ham, but don't be fooled! He's much more than that! His existence transcends time and space. He exists nowhere and everywhere at the same time. He's the Alpha and the Omega. He's your father and your son. He's the Internet, and did everything before the Simpsons even thought of doing it. He's THE Bacon!

    ALL HAIL HYPNOTOAD BACON!

I'd love to see Achievement Hunter/Rooster Teeth get their hands on the game. I think they could do an awesome Let's Play with it, though it doesn't seem like their kind of game. You never know, though! They play Minecraft every week and every video is vastly entertaining, but I think some of my favorite videos are the ones where they go off to find new things included in an update. If they all booted up Starbound and played it blind for an hour just exploring a planet and pressing buttons to see what they do, I'm pretty sure I'd pop organs from laughing.

Otherwise, I find it likely that the Yogscast will play it, and TB, and I hear rumor they will. I agree with what some people have been saying - since Simon and Lewis started scripting everything they do, I've lost interest. I used a bust a gut at the vids from their first couple years of popularity, but it seems they're too worried about quality and being politically correct (though they, mostly Lewis, aren't very good at public relation stuff. >_> ) to just be themselves, which is what got them popular in the first place. But every once in a while you get a video where they're unscripted and the difference in quality is noticeable. Best case scenario, imo, if Simon and Lewis decide to spearhead the Yogvideos for Starbound, I hope they go into it mostly blind and with no script and they'll do a great job. I would also enjoy Hannah taking on a Starbound campaign.

TB, I'm sure, will do a well rounded critique of the game, no matter what his biases may be. If we're lucky, he might do a Let's Play with Jesse Cox. I don't much like Jesse on his own, but I loved their Terraria series. xD Their personalities play off each other well and both have enough followers that, with that humorous edge, the game could get more positive publicity than just an informative video would get on its own. The whole reason I got Minecraft in the first place was because of watching Simon and Lewis play and seeing the fun they had, and Let's Plays are intensely popular as a youtube-born genre.

Otherwise....and it's not their usual game type, but I would love a Spike and Barley Play of Starbound. :mwahaha: Those guys crack me up more than the above named combined! xDDD But that's wishful thinking, I guess. I'll just have to wait to see if they pick up the game later.

Ha, I keep mentioning how these guys make me laugh, but it's not just the humor that's important, though humor definitely increases followers. Commentary is also important, and I just hope that Youtube celebrities like Yogscast can do the game justice by clearly differentiating it from Terraria and taking note of all the things that make it unique. Yes, there are similarities, but Starbound takes the Terraria idea into a whole different direction and I don't want only TB to say such on camera. :/

Okay, this is just my opinion, so don't hate me over it, but I want to put this out there:

I frankly don't give two shits.

    There. Now to elaborate.
I'm the kind of guy who "freelances" when it comes to LPs. Sure, for certain games there are certain channels I prefer over others, but I'm not biased-ly attached to any one channel.
If I want to watch a video, I look it up and click on whichever one I find most interesting. I honestly don't care much who's playing, as long as they:

    1) Are interesting to listen to, if they decide to do commentary, and
    2) Present the gameplay in a way that's most easily understandable.

Whoever gets pre-release copies I could care less. If I even decide to watch pre-release footage, which I probably will, then if Person A does a better job at making Starbound look fun than Person B, then obviously I am going to watch Person A's videos.

Toby, TB, PewDiePie, Slyfox, PBat, JonTron, and the rest on the list of "big-shot youtubers" all have fair game at making a good first impression for Starbound, even if their CURRENT reputation is in the yellow.

WHO gets to market the game shouldn't matter, HOW they do it is all that counts to me.

So long as Pewdiepie DOESN'T get it, everything will be fine. He's the Pauly Shore of Youtube.

I don't think Tobuscus should get it either, actually.

In fact only people with actual talent should be allowed to preview them.

I'm fine with youtubers getting copies of the game, but not before we do. Extra popularity for the game is good, but giving the game to them first would really piss me off.

They will give copies only to those media they believe to be the most capable of bringing in the most revenue, for longer support for the game and more updates. They might do this without giving out to many press release's and try to avoid people that would give the wrong type of reviews (The ones that forget it's still a beta.) and piss off the people who gave money to support the game. Don't try to make me believe every person who gave money did so for the team itself, some may have only done it to support the game alone to see it come out faster. (There is nothing wrong with that and I'm not accusing anyone here.) Now of course this means they still did support the team, the intention was missing however. They did say the "donations" were meant to support the development. (It's on the front page.) What was intended from that statement is that the money goes to help them in any way develop the game. Get money, develop game.

That's how it works, they can't create the game as fast without it. Now lets say the developers give out these copies, what happens? More people may see the game, more people will want to help support the game (As they are told what stage the game is in.) , more money, the greater of a chance the game will get in your hands faster. They are not directly doing this for you, (Although in the end it does, it's just not aimed at you.) they are doing it for the people who have not yet even breathed the word Starbound. The longer it's out there the more people will see it. Besides the version they are giving to the press is less then pleasant. (That's what they said but I guess we will have to see.) They may be getting a buggy, frighting nightmare. They (The Press) will know this, they will say the game is not out yet so the people who find out about the game on whatever review the see will come here knowing that. (And if they did come here they must have wanted to contribute in some way.)

I know. I hate it as well. The idea that someone else who may not have contributed as much or not at all is getting the game before us. They will get to enjoy (or not) the game before us. There comes a time however that the developers will dig their heels in and say that it's happening no matter what. (Every company does this at one point.) They can not afford to always be so generous all the time, it can kill business in some situations (Not saying this is one of them.). I'm not yelling at people to stop complaining, that was not the point I'm trying to make. I just think that sometimes people here forget or still do not understand the reasoning behind this tactic. (Again I accuse no one of this.) I just needed to make my final major point on this topic before I get sick of typing about it. You guys make good points sometimes and it makes me feel pessimistic about the games out come. Let the arrows fly when the effects kick in, that's the greatest time to let the devs know of a misdeed. (If it ends up being one.) It can't save us from the past, but it makes for a brighter future.

As I like to say, you can't start the riot until you have the reason.

Alceris. You may not have heard of him, he's this dude that hasn't really done anything on Youtube yet, but I hear he'll be doing a let's play of Starbound. If you haven't figured out that that's me, there's something very VERY wrong with your brain.

  15. Sklobington

    Sklobington Void-Bound Voyager

Well, as far as I can tell, no one has even mentioned Hat Films (apologies if someone has). Am I the only Hatter here? Anyway, I'd love them to do a series, or at very least "Have a Bash" with it. It's not as if they are a small channel either. They do a lot of big stuff. I can already hear Trott's screams of terror...

It's a high possibility that Totalbiscuit will get a copy, Jesse Cox nad Yogscast might get it too

    P.S.
I really hope that TB and Jesse do a letsplay of Starbound, just like they did with Terraria, because their Terraria letsplay was hilarious.

  18. Hugt

I think I actually heard somewhere that the media and players would both be getting the game at the same time for fairness.
I forgot where my source was... but I remember that it was official! (doesn't help me at all)

BUT... if I were to choose, I'd choose someone who's actually interested in and knows a lot about Starbound. Maybe Hero, Ockpii, or Pedguin?
However, I know that getting this game to youtubers is a marketing thing and it would be best to get it out to the most popular gaming channels. I just wouldn't want Starbound to attract the wrong fanbase... ya know?
    Just my opinion!

I sort of hope TotalBiscuit, Jesse Cox, and.. maybe Yogscast. Tbh, I think the Yogscast are good, if they're with somebody other than themselves. Preferably TB. :catface2:
Also, probably Achievement Hunter; I think it'd maybe be entertaining to watch that.

I REALLY hope Tobuscus, PewDiePie, and a couple of odd members from the Yogscast do NOT get it. Dear lord, I really hate PewDie and Tobuscus. It's probably going to be inevitable (them getting copies) because you know, famous and such, but ugh. PewDiePie practically ruins everything for me; I think he's a cool guy, but damn he annoys me when he's making videos. And Tobuscus? I really think he's too spastic and annoying. I'd not enjoy watching their videos, that's for damn sure.
