Which race is (biologically) perfect?

We (currently) have 6 races in Starbound. Which one is the perfect organism? Which has succeeded in every stage of evolution?

Humans: We are far from perfect, and can't really evaluate ourselves without bias, so skipped for now.
Apex: The Apex have exchanged physical evolution for mental evolution. They are as close as they can get to the species of Homo sapien. Their physical-intellectual exchange has brought them the weakness of a bipedal organism. They are not as strong nor dumb as a gorilla, due to the development of their brains. Not perfect, but their artificial evolution does prove them a good race.
Glitch: The Glitch are not biotic organisms. They do not apply here.
Avian: These bipedal birds cannot fly, but they do have the ability to walk efficiently. Not perfect, but they seem to be a strong species.
Hylotl: These fish amphibians have come far from their oceanic biome, and have a good chance, species-wise.
Floran: My my, these magnificent beings are the definition of biological perfection. They are autotrophs and heterotrophs, they sprout from the ground, they are intelligent, they are unaffected by illnesses suffered by animals, and they can reproduce aesexually. Their only shortcoming is their inherent dependence on water, but drysap may be the one step they can take to becoming a perfect species.

Any species that is unproductive or worse, dead, for a quarter of the year is far from perfect. :p

Biological perfection is a transient concept, because it's a measure of how deep an organism adapts to its environment. Thus, every race is perfect, maybe only in their very short time-span

Uh, one problem. The Floran are imperfect in the way that they have no idea what anything is other than "DIE DIE DIE" aside from Greenfinger. My Avian and my Hylotl both say that Florans hunt and do little else. Truthfully, the Hylotl actually are further advanced than the Floran, not only in technology but also in their brains. They may not be able to win a war against them, but the Hylotl can certainly outsmart them. Humans (In game, at least) are probably farther from perfect than they ever have been, or ever will be. They are nearly dead from the giant tentacle meteor boss, and they are paranoid. The Apex are genius' in their own right, as they are the most advanced species. They indebted themselves to advancement, and thus lost their freedom. Sounds a little bit like a couple countries in the last 150 years of Earth history. Avians are actually divided into two groups. Grounded and Non-grounded, with the non-grounded having wings. The grounded are more populous and stronger in a way. The non-grounded trick the dumber grounded into believing in Kluex, and succeed. Avians aren't that bad either. Floran are the least advanced species and also the rudest. They may be the one with the most endurance or hunting experience, but they sure aren't biological perfection.

Yeah I dont think that this can be aproached from a "who is the most perfect" direction. Perfect for a certain situation might be totaly bad for another one.
Otherwise, seeing how each races are kind of an extremised facet of humans, I's say the humans are the most well adapted for the stars seeing as a high versatility, mostly in mind than in physical capacity, is what is truly needed to make it out there.
Otherwise the florans have proved to have an incredible capacity for adaptation, remain to see if they can change as a society too.

I would agree with you, but the Humans are in a ditch right now. Earth is destroyed, and they were scattered to the edges of the Universe. The only time you see a non-player Human is in a USCM facility. Florans may have an incredible capacity for adaption, but almost all of them are still brutes with shrunken heads on sticks.

    There is no "Perfect"

The idea that anyone thinks something can be perfect disturbs me

Their autotrophic capabilities are incapable of sustaining them, however. They need to eat, and eat a lot, in order to survive, such to the point that their entire culture and society revolves around the hunt. This implies they're relatively inefficient at both capabilities.
Not actually an advantage, though? Why would it be?
    Okay?
This statement shows an incredible lack of biological understanding. Plants are just as susceptible to disease as humans, just not the same ones. Just like pigs are susceptible to diseases humans aren't, and humans are susceptible to diseases pigs aren't.

Here's a list of tree diseases to mull over. Plants aren't really susceptible to viruses, at least not that I know of, but are much more susceptible to fungus and about as susceptible to bacteria. A plant with complicated moving parts and more specialized organs like a Floran would need, would likely be more susceptible to bacterial infection than a normal plant, and still about equally so to fungal.

According to their creator they 'reproduce like any other flowering plant' which is not asexually. There might be a lore book or something that goes against this in game, and it's easier to clone a plant than a mammal, as plants have both sex organs so you can just stick the two requisite cells together as opposed to having to edit an egg or sperm, but this isn't really a huge advantage given that it's not true asexual reproduction and clones created in this method are kinda like kids from brother and sister but even worse as far as birth defects go.
Drysap has side effects that, to the best of my knowledge, are never explicitly stated but suggested to be completely awful.

Imples you can actually measure this objectivly. I've never heard of anyone agreeing on such a measure.

... Evolution dosen't work like that.

OP, you must now name all the "stages" of evolution. Is it like Spore? Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization, Space? If that is the case, then (discounting the players) most races haven't quite made it to civilization. Yes, I am talking to you, Florans.

A single player can run in and wipe out a whole base of any of these pissants so I'm pretty sure the player is a genetically engineered perfect metabeing and everybody else is fish bait.

Haha, it's true! My Avian (which I consider pretty low down on the evolutionary scale, but fun to play as because I like their lore) can easily demolish an entire USCM facility and then lick his beak while a prisoner moans his last breath. I'd like to see NPCs that do that.

Logical: as biological life can never achieve perfection, the only applicable answer is non-biological life.

plaintive: we glitch are alive! we have feelings! if you prick us, do we not.... leak?

conclusive: another case of "fleshlings inferior, glitch superior"

Insulting. You other races are flawed, imperfect, and weak.
Proud. The Glitch will take over, we will overcome your weakness with our strength.
Sanctification. Only then, will the universe be pure again.

No species can be perfect, its just not possible.

Human: We have plenty of flaws, mostly due to greed and power
Apex: They may be the smartest and most advanced species, but they had to sacrifice physical prowess for intellectual superiority. Also, they're ruled by a dictatorship, and they're currently divided.
Avians: They COULD fly, and COULD be very advanced, but thanks to all their worshiping Kluex they're divided, semi-primitive, and cut off their wings.
Hylotl: Yes they can breathe underwater, but they are still amphibians, they need to stay hydrated to survive, just like Florans. They're also very peaceful, not a big fan of fighting.
Glitch: Robots, hiveminds, and they're forever trapped in the Medieval age.
Floran: Extraordinarily hostile, require water to survive, and very primitive, far from perfect.
Agarans: Can't communicate with other species, and are also very primitive.
Novakid: We don't know enough about them

You answered your own question: the same way we have for at least thirty years.

Just replace sentient with "sapient" as that is more relevant to our context.

I believe in modern media when they describe the species they say "cybermorphic life" or something like that.
