    B. The food/thermometer for A looks a bit awkward, and in B all of the static parts of the GUI are on one edge of the screen, which looks nicer.

So in B the bottom bars don't show up unless they are low. Makes sense - I choose B then.

I can see A being somewhat confusing to gauge (as in determining how hungry you are and such), and the little face is a bit too cutesy. I'm glad to see B has the majority vote.

Even though I agree that A is (slightly) more cluttered, I find it's design much prettier than B's...

I would actually prefer to have them all lined up on the left side of the screen. And then if you wanted to you could move them where you want on the screen, so you could personalize it that way.

    Edit:

With that in mind, you could have all those bars lined up on the left side, I think that would look really sweet. Just my preference though.

I think the main problem with that is that's where the party interface is (planned?) to go.
Speaking of which, will you be able to see the statuses of your party members..? Probably not, because that would take up a lot of space in a little section.

I voted B but that being said, why not both and make it an option in the menu? Might be a bit overkill but I like options.

If you could move the GUI around manually to where you wanted then the party interface would not have to interfere. Hmm, but I have an idea, I will make an example of it soon. Unless someone else already had a similar idea, I will look through all the pages first.

    That's true.
Although, then we wouldn't all be trying to figure out where the best places to put the pieces of the HUD in the first place!

Ok here we go, here's my example:
    starboundinterfacething.png
And then, once it all looks good together, the idea would be that you could move these things manually by dragging them with the mouse cursor. You could lock the bars to the party window if you wanted, or you could unlock the bars from the party window and place them manually where ever you want on the screen. In this way you would be able to personalize the interface to how you want it to look for your own preference.

At least, that's the idea. :)

Have it as a setting? So we can change the GUI to what fits are gaming style. I Love the design of A and would be fine giving up a little room on the bottom of the screen, But seems like B is going to win. I like being able to see everything about my character on a quick glance. Just my thoughts.

Hmmm I'm torn. A is nice because you can always see both so you can preempt some problems with your temperature and such, but I like B because it leaves the bottom of the screen open, and also seems more organized with the food bar up top and the others near the bottom. I pick B because I prefer how the bar placement is, personally i agree with the other posters asking for presets in the options menu as well. You can't predict the functionality in game just from two pictures and may find you preferred a different option during gameplay. Having a choice to choose the GUI would also start new problems though, there may be those that don't like any of the choices, but in their situation its more of a, "why did you even buy the game then," response. So um.... Before I start going off on a tangent with a really long debate with myself, I choose B.

B for sure! Having food by health and stuff just makes sense. Temporary bars should be somewhere where you'll notice when they pop up, like the center bottom of the screen.
