Where are the massive ocean planets? Where are the under water cities that were shown to us by the devs? Has anyone even found one of these yet?
This. Although many of the items shown in the mock-up have now made their way into nightly, albeit not obtainable by "normal" means. Ocean planets, as well as Arctic planets are in the game's code and "mostly functioning" but are currently unimplemented. They cannot be accessed without celestial config edits. The ocean planet biome doesn't really look like an ocean (more like a drained ocean/desert) and they were both removed due to parallax bugs, from I've heard.
I would love to see Planets where the only thing that isn't water is an underwater base or colony. I would gladly make a home on a planet like that. As said above this was only a mockup and has kind of made it's way there.
The vast majority of the items in the screen-shots can already be found in stable; just not by normal means, generally a spawning mod or the such but it is indeed possible.
Like people said, this was a mock-up and i think work on adding them stopped after a CPU-intensive issue was found that required ocean planets be turned off. (so why focus on a planet type that needs a major bug fixed when there is a lot of other none broken planet types). I would assume it will be added back in the major updates now that they are focusing or buildings again and nightly fixed ocean planets being a sinkhole of lag (still need more water though.)
Now something to really fry your noggin, those pics were posted in updates back in the day. Kinda similar to how we have pics of daily updates now..... so they were just mock ups back then, how far off are the mock ups we see now !?!?!
but they use this specific screenshot on their steam store page. That is false advertisement in my opinion.
This has been brought up before. You can try asking @mollygos to remove it from the store page. I do agree like with most the old stuff they left on the store page it was a very very poor choice to not remove them as soon as they knew they were an issue or no longer true to avoid coming off as "Buy the game and get this (but not really)". On the bright side they seem to be trying to remedy the fact that mock-up was in the game. Going by the nightlies, really close. Most of the mock-up now get more or less added to the nightlies within a week if not the next day.
