Where do you buy this game when it's released?

@Sensational Terraria's where I came from, so I'd assume they would be going that route. Hopefully not though, since paying through steam can be a bit annoying. I think I had to ask my reletives to pay me in steam games just because I couldn't buy them here.

@MalNeige, I was just pointing out that the reason you said you wouldn't like Starbound to be on steam is the same reason I wouldn't want it to be on steam.

 

Ever heard of dungeon defenders, binding of issac and a recent indie game called legend of grimrock?
These game have all done fine on steam and i have no doubt that starbound will do amazing on steam either.

 

I actually have played about a hundred and fifty hours of Dungeon Defenders and I'm pissed right off that Steam has to kill my game in the 22nd wave if they have a connection problem.

I'd rather have this and pretty much any game to be available in Steam to make it more accessible to more people and generate a bigger fame and success, but I do not want it to be dependent on Steam actually being always online to work. Terraria sure as hell didn't need Steam to work to play online, and I'm glad for that.

I also want the game to be available without Steam so that anyone who has a problem with their "you just pay for the right to play, not for ownership"-policy can give the money straight to the developers in exchange for delicious gaming goodness.

That said, I'd probably get this game on Steam. Because I'm lazy and stuff, and the rare connection problems at least give me an excuse to go jogging or wash the dishes or something.

 

Well, it may be sucesfull on steam too, It all depends.

 

I really don't care where the game is sold, but if I had to then I would pick Steam.

 

I hope it will be on Steam because I don't have PayPal or something similar. I don't think it will be released in Germany, so I have to get it via Steam or such.

I would prefer a PayPal/CreditCard and download straight from the sight, like Cobalt, Minecraft, Overgrowth, etc.

 

Yeah you can use PayPal but I use my mothers credit card. But she is very careful with her card on the internet. I had to discuss and argue with her for hours until I could use it for Steam...

 

Ah true. My mum trusts me fairly well, so if I give her the money, or if it's not a substantial amount, it's usually not a problem.

 

If terraria was on steam, and terraria is a huge hit, I don't see why starbound wouldn't be on steam

Probably the paypal method used in minecraft and in many Indie games. Can't possibly expect them to release CDs roms right? Unless it's a bundle pack or something.
