When you get Starbound, what race will you choose first?

Floran, because perfect for me.

 

Floran. Rip and tear.

 

Human.

 

It depends on lore of two remaining species and overall art style of everyone. But first character — probably human for solo play, then either floran (awesome lore) or hylotl (if the art style will be medieval and/or asian especially) or robots for playing with friends on private server. Maybe even apex, if I'll be able to make one that looks good to me, which is doubtful; I like their super-sapient-tech-savvy background, but really do not like fur. No avians.

 

I'm very likely going with a Human - unless I'm captivated by the robots' history and description.

 

Aquatic.
Always chose the water type starter in Pokemon.

 

This made me chuckle.

I would totally go with a Hylotl as a first character if they could breathe water on their own, but based on the stuff said about the races, the differences are purely cosmetic and it's only the Hylotl armor that may end up granting water breathing. I suppose the argument could be made that Hylotl will be able to get water breathing earlier than the other races, but idk if that's incentive enough for me.

 

I'm undecided... I'll probably play as human first to try the game out. Once I'm more comfortable with any (possibly?) unique traits per race, I'd roll another race that fits my playstyle more.

 

Hylotl! Something about being an oozeman is just awsome
