When will the performance optimization happen?

I think what the developers are doing at the moment is pretty great, I really had no problems running starbound on my three year old notebook that has more bugs then a log being attacked by termites. But give the dev's a chance they will get to the optimization as soon as they can :3

Dont get me wrong, I really like how the game progresses and I do especially like how flexible the development is.

A good example would be the rails. Someone made it as a mod, a developer saw it, found it cool and just implemented it. This is exceptional! From my usual experiences, game developers gather "good" user ideas and put them on a B-list that is touched just a few times per year( Even if they like the ideas, there is noone specially assigned to implement and the development is too strict to unassign someone from its current module. ).

And thank you George for trying to help out. I know you cant provide any eta or technical details, but your experience having Starbound running smooth on your old laptop gives me some light and the end of the tunnel :) . Im not a fan of buying just up2date hardware, but I was really suprised when I first saw how bad my current system actually performed running Starbound. If it was my decision I'd say feel free to work another full year implementing cool stuff without even touching any productive point. But if you do so, please convince your team to tell us that they need that year :D
