When will preorder start?

Well title says everything. April is very close so we may see something in new Starbound Chronicle? Because Tiy said that the game is close to finish (correct me if I am wrong) , so preorder has to be just around the corner. I just hope it will clost 15$ or less since I don't have much money. Or maybe we get something for Easter O.O

 

There has been no date announced, tough I think it will be really soon.

 

Honestly with the positive results for a pre-order it seems like it will happen sooner then later. Though that does not mean we will be able to play the beta right away either. Though beta is slated for 2013 i would assume that's subject to change at any time depending on how Tiy and the rest of the development team feel about it.

The only real benefits which are currently stated are

So even though the pre-order it's self might be soon the beta access will probably still be a few months at least.

 

The biggest benefit is for the devs thus being for us. Pre-orders means some income for the devs. They won't have to do side jobs in order to pay their bills. So there will be more time vailable for developing. Consider this before crying about the game not getting out faster.

I wasn't telling you that...I was meaning in general. Too much people complain about the game taking too long to be developed...

 

Oh i typically try and remain neutral in my post while posting the facts to things like this if i happen to have the time and see them. Sorry though didnt mean to accuse ya.

Chances that info concerning that will be found in the next newsletter is ratter high. As for the price I would not worry about it being higher than 15 since that was what they annonced should be the maximum price for it. This is of course not fixed in stone but still not a big risk.

 

They will start it when they're ready to nothing we can do about it but keep waiting

 

Since pre-orders and beta were announced just earlier this week, I'd assume sometime in Q2 (April-June). There will probably be something in the new few weeks.

 

I would think that, since the developers have so much riding on the release of this game, they would start accepting pre-orders. There is so much viable media and screenshots about the game already, not to mention that it has been in development for a long time. I don't think the developers will all fall off a cliff right after everyone preorders the game, that is just both...well, stupid.

The game is already, just about done. If we were able to send in more money as pre-orders that would help finish the game quicker.

 

I honestly hope Pre-orders don't start for a while. I just bought the ARMA 3 Alpha today and my parents probably won't let me buy anything for a while again...

 

You're wrong.

It was either Omni or Bartwe but the Devs have said that they aren't "close" to being finished. They *might* be close to the Beta, though.

 

Tiy (I believe) stated that beta WILL come out in 2013 no matter what. If i'm incorrect or misreading your post feel free to yell at me.

 

Not gonna yell that would be pointless and unnecessary everyone has a point of view on stuff when it's said.

It by it's self suggest that it will come out in 2013 and i suspect it will, but by saying it will is not exactly correct since there is no true confirmation that it will. It's just a timeline and deadlines get pushed back on a lot of things not just starbound. As far as we know it could be a few weeks after the pre-order or it could be the end of the year or possibly pushed into 2014 if Tiy and the team are unhappy with how the beta is working out. Tiy says he wants to give us a complete game so i doubt he would wanna give a beta with some flawed coding and tons of glitches even if the majority of the community on this site would not take it to heart and think it would be in the final product. I would rather just have it so people dont get the idea it will be really soon that they can finally play the beta of Starbound and then have to wait towards the end of the year for it.

e-e it's weird im saying this considering im prolly gonna be lurking for the next few weeks waiting for the pre-order link.

 

To be honest, if they said it's coming in 2013 it will definitely. There won't be no push-backs because the folks know exactly what there's left to do. But 2013 do mean everything untill 31st december, so it may come later than most of people here expect.

 

I agree, I would also rather not get my hopes up. It's easier for me to just tell myself it won't be for awhile rather than saying it's gonna be next month and get disappointed.

I also agree that they are going to try hand over fist to get atleast a beta out this year. December is still a long time away and they still have a lot of time left.

All in all, I would rather see a very polished version released next year than a crappy "must-get-it-out" beta next month.

 

Best just hibernate and spare hype for when they announce the release date.
