Closed when i play starbound it is super slow and freezs my laptop

    since acouple days ago i was playing starbound and suddenly it was like 2-3 fps nonstop but today i launched it and it laged so badly my laptop screen froze and the game made a really loud bad noise for 5-6 mins and the lag wont stop.

    Its the game's lack of optimisation. Because it isn't optimised going places will cause it to be slow, and the more that is happening, the slower it gets. No matter how well your computer can handle and run things, this is expected until 1.0

    Its been announced by Chucklefish the 1.0 update will be this year sometime. They're hoping for it to be finished in time for the end of the year. So anytime between now and December.

    but why doesn't chuckle fish make a quick patch so people can play the game instead of waiting for like 5 months?

    They are looking to release by the end of july.

    They cant just release a patch because the cause of the poor performance is optimized code. It is a drastic oversimplification to say "just release a patch".

    There's still hope of fixing it if you do a few of these things
    1: Defragment your computer
    2: Delete your universe and/or character files
    3: Get rid of any PUPs (Possibly Unwanted Programs) on your computer such as Web-Crawlers which severely limit performance.
    If you have any questions on how to do these things, don't be afraid to ask.
