When enemies get official names please let this one be called Taz

Enemies couldn't get official names as they have procedural generation, you would need to come up with millions of names in order to name every single possible combination.

 

..We could however have random name generation for monsters too?

 

they still look the same sure they get different colours but for most part they look the same

 

I've never seen an enemy that looks like this one and I've played my fair share. There's always the slightest of deviation.

 

I was hoping that I would be able to name the local wildlife of a planet as I came across it as a sort of expansion to the whole "pokemon" system.

That's a good idea actually! A mod that lets you catalog species you've seen.

 

Your journal was originally meant to catalog stuff you use the N key to identify. The N key description claims that it will. I hope they get around to that.

 

Maybe something that saves a screen shot that can be cropped in a x by x frame (obviously the user needs to focus it around the creature), and then you can write a species name and a brief description or a "met at" w/ coordinates to their home planet.

No, you probably came back to the planet during the night or went to a different biome. If you went underground you will find new monsters also.
