anyone who rages after a character wipe in beta is a complete and total tool... just putting some 100% truth out there.

. . .Of course so have I (most of them just rushing the end tier to see what their armors look like)

    Edit @AdunSaveMe

Just hit F12 if you're running it through Steam and it'll auto save to the screenshots folder. Which is kinda a pain to find, but you can just click 'show on disk' when you're done playing and the box pops up.

The problem is that your not one in a million, there are a TON of these threads, especially after character wipes or when an update occurs that makes you create a new character if you want the new items.

I't's like working at an Air Force testing base as a test pilot and constantly complaining that the engineers keep changing the controls as they add new systems. We're flippin' test pilots, If something doesn't work we report it, we don't complain because they added something else for us to test...

At least that's how I feel about it.

Anyways... It does say on the launcher that wipes are expected. And if they do it right, the next wipe will be the last one.

Here's a tip; don't put a lot of progress into your characters if you're going to be upset when you lose it all. Because you WILL lose it all.

Adun, take a screenshot in steam using f12 i believe... the moderators answer was pretty lame.

Nah, he's just doing his job.

Screenshots in Steam don't work. I think the play button in steam is linked to the launcher, not the game itself.
Maybe setting a different path will work... But I don't know if I can set Steam to run the OpenGL mode instead of the normal one rather than the launcher.

The steam screens work. But they lag pretty bad for some reason.

    At least for me.

I usually have to F12 like three or four times. And then take 2 pictures.

If anything, I will be rather upset when we stop having wipes. I enjoy character creation and starting over, and it means I don't get bored of my characters. It's vital to proper beta testing as we are forced to experience added content we would otherwise miss. Also, I'm a little worried this "final wipe" is being done for the wrong reasons, namely, to appease the people who complain about wipes (even though they were warned many, many times).

Easy fix. Create a new character. And the final wipe is adding in a better patching system.

I think it's being done less to appease people and more because they don't want to do character wipes.

Never mind, then. I didn't do much reading into the "why", only the "what". In which case, bring on the final wipe! But there is still something strangely nice about opening up Starbound one day to discover everything you've worked on has been deleted and you have to start over. When the universe wipe happened last update, I was in the middle of building an Apex village, having hit Impervium level. It was a bit of a shock, but my sister and I agreed to start over with different characters.

(Yeah, deleting your character is an easy fix, but the wipes forced you to keep restarting. I wouldn't have the heart to delete it myself, nor do I know how  I would just run my character into the ground, though I guess this is my own problem.)

That's... different. You take losing everything you put time into and being forced to start again as a good thing.

    I like you.

I'm sure they'll eventually have a delete character function, but for now:

Program Files(x86) -> Steam -> SteamApps -> Common -> Starbound -> Player Then sort by date descending, and your most recently played character's ship/character files will be at the top. I believe there's three files per character. Remove them from the folder. Boot up starbound. If you got the wrong character, replace them and try again.

If you want to wipe them all you can just empty the folder entirely.

If you want to clear your planets:

    Program Files(x86) -> Steam -> SteamApps -> Common -> Starbound -> Universe.

Normally I wouldn't, but I guess I view it as a sign of progress. When I had to get my hard drive replaced I hasn't too happy about it, aha ._.

Oh dude, thanks! I've got three characters but I only ever use one and it's been really bugging me.

I wipe myself (players lol) all the time and start over, been trying all kinds of cool azz mods and just enjoying the game for what it is right now. This wipe mean alot to me cuz I can now really get into my character and keep her.
