When are they adding magic?

What sort of magic are you looking for? Already a load of magic in the game. It's pretty magical that the buildings don't crumble when built crudely. It's magical that you can have an steel door that slides open, yet have no power! That it only takes some iron to transform a wooden bow into iron! Magic is in the air!

Starbound... Is sci-fi.
Terraria... Is fantasy.

The two don't mix often, and I, along with several other people don't believe that they should mix the two in Starbound.
You seem like a reasonably smart person, and you've been here for a while, I would have assumed that you would have either thought of this, or seen one of the several threads on this subject.

That saying technically doesn't even hold up anymore. We know how technology works and WILL work for all of time. We're no longer apes who think futuristic technology is witchcraft.

On-topic: There won't be magic. Starbound uses "energy" instead, however only ranged weapons and tech run off of it at the moment. I'm sure there will be melee weapons that use energy and whatnot, and there's always modding possibilities for your "magic needs" over time.

 

How is the first post you quoted trolling? He gave you a serious answer, tech is this games from of magic. I don't think they will be adding magic to the game though, not that we need it anyways, we have the tech and will be getting more too.

 

That isn't trolling. It's hard facts. Terraria was more focused around "Fantasy" while Starbound is more focused around "Science Fiction". Rarely are those two genres ever mixed, as they usually yield undesirable results.
