1. Humans or Novakids. Novakids jut seem cool. I still haven't tried the other races yet. Florans seem interesting though.
2. Explore and maintain my base
3. Treasure hunter for sure. Mining is also fun.
4. Maybe. If they have the game.
5. At the rate I'm currently playing at, I'll probably get 100+ hours.
6. Melee. I'll kill anyone who stands in my way.

1 - Human for sure. Maybe apex or Hyotl but probably human.
2 - I like progressing. But I enjoy progressing to the next tier only when i've done most of the previous tier. Not very fond of powergaming.
3 - Build! Manage! Grow my empire of trading networks/villages and cities! That'd be awesome. Exploring and dungeoneering on the side as well.

4 - Probably not much. Maybe with a girlfriend eventually. But I'll probably play single player most.

5 - 1-2 hours every other day.

6 - Melee! And yes. Each and every one. Except the neutrals. Can't bring myself to kill creatures that don't attack me.

7 - I would love to have a main base, multiple small ones and connect them all. hint hint.

• I'm playing a Human because i like to imagine the pg in the game is really like me. All the races are quite nice.

2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?

• Just farm and travel through sector 10.

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?

• Treasure hunter is the way, i like Indiana Jones style!

• Sure i'll try multiplayer mode in some public server very soon.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?

• I'm still single player mode in Alpha sectors traveling and farming and i'm at about 12 hours played, so i think more than 100h for sure.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?

• I prefer melee with 2 handed sword but sometime i switch to gun. I usually set the kill-all mode.

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?

• I think it's better to find a lovely planet where start building a large main base and then store the most important things on the ship. I like forest biome also if i think i've still to see other biomes in the next sectors.

2. For now, I've been rushing to the highest tier, and from there, I'll go around, scavening what I find to build my base.
3. I like mining in desert planets, because breaking huge underground pools of sand is fun !
Else, I like exploring the surface of planets and dungeons, rather than mining massively. Also, building !
4. I play with a few friends of mine, and I hope to make more of 'em play the game, because it's amazing, period.

6. Ranged, because I'm tired of getting Melee OS'd by NPCs as soon as I let my shield down to attack.

I play the modded Succubus race, especially since looks are all that matter in the races, I go for the horns and tail.

My first character was made the day I got the game, which was the afternoon before the wipe. It let me test and get a feel for the game, and the very next day I jumped in with my "Real" first character (I didn't know about hte wipe before hand), knowing what I needed to do and how to do it I also benefited from being very lucky. My starting planet had a lot of excellent resources and special instances. I jumped to Threat 10 within two days of play.
After playing around in threat 10 I took to modding.


3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?

I do as little mining as possible. I take everything from Instances, chests, and just surface ores. With the help of mods, I like to set up Quarries to mine for me. I'm most interested in finding interesting locations, and download any mod promising more. Such as Dungeoneer Dungeons, Variety, and Spacebound and what not. Exploration.
I also like building things, but nothing too complex, because the game isn't finalized yet and I feel like if I spend a lot of time making anything too fancy it'll end up wiped in some way sooner or later.


4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?

I really wish I could. If there was a huge megaserver that was always running full of players populating the universe... I'd love that. I'd love randomly exploring a planet to run across a Player-Made station of some sort just by chance. Engaging with other players similarly to how you might in an actual RP-based MMO (Rather than a grinder MMO where all that mattered is levels and people are pricks to eachother).

But with my love of modding I can't do that, as my mods weigh me down from reaching servers. That, and even with no mods at all downloaded, I can't play in public servers. Public servers always fail on me every other couple minutes. I seem to be able to play 1v1 though just fine. Though 1 of my 4 friends with Starbound is completely incapable of playing with me. Both on his end and mine it seems.


5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?

Hundreds! Eventually. With modding and multiplayer by some miracle I can get into multiplayer, it isn't the easiest game to run dry. Especially since the game isn't even complete yet. It doesn't help that I leave the Starbound launcher up practically 24/7 despite not using it. Just for convenience. It says I've played 335 hours now because of that, when in reality it's at most around 70.


6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?

Ranged. Melee feels like bogus.


7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?

I'd definitely have a homeworld. Once I trust the game not to wipe me, I'd have one world that I'd eventually cover in a sprawling metropolis complete with NPCs via spawners. I'd work on it slowly, adding every now and then. Set it as homeworld, and continue my exploring.
Even better, or worse, if on a big public server for someone to stumble across eventually. Assuming they don't go full douche and throw bombs everywhere.

I like searching for the perfect planet to call home. If the first one isn't just right, I'll stick around just long enough to fuel my ship and go find another. Sometimes this means I'm constantly on the move, jumping from planet to planet, sticking around just long enough to harvest resources for the next hop. Other times, I find one that's just right, and I stick around.

When I decide a planet is worth living on, I spend a lot more time on my structures. I carefully craft a glorious fortress to call home.

Eventually I grow tired of my new home planet, and I have to explore others. I do, but I always return, inventory filled to the brim with new materials and stuff to decorate with.

I really like the selection of races. They're diverse, and can be surprising at times. (Ferocious meat-eating plant people for example.) However, I don't really notice much of a difference in the way they play. Maybe it's too subtle, but playing as a different race seems more aesthetic than anything.

Ans. I love Human. The only race with a back story I find the most appealing one.

Ans. For my first character, I remember I rushed randomly and got killed. Then it got deleted. But later, I became much more careful and started farming, and sometimes scavenging.

Ans. I love building. I always try to find the best blocks to use on my house. I make large basements, and underground paths to various places. I prefer a Alpha Sector planet for hometown, and then create small outposts on other sectors.

Ans. To infinity and beyond. 4 hours minimum daily. Even during exams

Ans. Melee. I kill everyone unless it's friendly.

1. On Beta I am playing as an Avian because I love birds and the item sets for them are awesome. I can see me playing as a Floran in the future too. I don't care for humans though. I take full advantage of games to be able to get out of being a human for once.
2. I am, and have always been, a adventurer. I trudge through the enemies and dungeons no matter what, because I KNOW there is loot to be found and plundered.
3. Mining never gets old as long as it has meaning behind it. As previously stated, I am an adventurer/treasure seeker.
4. I love playing games (especially sandbox games) by myself. The vast world feels much more open and surreal when presented with it by oneself.
5. I will keep on playing until the game no longer lets me. Which means, when the technology finally conquers the world...then we will all have to embark on our own real Starbound adventure.
6. I mix it up depending on the terrain around me. Strategy is key when you have pixels on the line. I fight when the are hostile. Otherwise I leave them in peace.
7. I usually have many bases scattered about, but this game is unique in it gives you a main base (Spaceship) to call home. Though I will set up small outposts on each world I land on. Only seems fair to my inner plundering tendencies. I can see myself utterly loving either the Grassland or Jungle biomes. That is if we are only discussing overworld biomes. Underworld biomes? Different story....a hint? Sewage biomes!

 

1. Human. Because I like the Lore and I'm a Human . I dislike Apex. I dont like they bandit lore.
2. Farm everything I can and go to hunt some birds.
3. I like build things and meet with friends on my planet. Even kill bosses. It's funny
4. Yes, on a Spanish Public Server. I want to know new people.
5. Over 5-10 hours. Only if my friends will play. It's too boring play alone

Race: Human for the win
Plans: I'm going for my character to be the Supreme Commander of the USCM, so I want to conquer an earth like planet, establish an empire, and then go around slaying evil aliens and stuff.
What to do: I'll probably build a lot, and steal stuff to pimp out my bases. I also really enjoy combat, might summon a boss in my city to have some fun
Others: I''ve been playing with a few friends of mine, I'm mostly in singleplayer but I do play multiplayer quite a lot.
Time: I spend almost 20 hours a week on this game, its addicting
Combat: I personally prefer the assault rifle (firing blue lasers/plasma), but I'll have a laser pistol as well, along with a rocket launcher, and maybe, if I can find one, a glowing blue Lightsaber/sword/electro blade thing
7: I'm going to find an earth-like planet, and establish an enormous metropolis, similar to Manhattan. In a nearby planet, I'll have my military base, with all the military weaponry, bases, etc, including my master bunker. I'll also try to make an outpost on each and every planet of note I discover.

i'm a builder/explorer/farmer in that order. i have a skyrail around the whole planet(medium size), a 35 floor skyscraper. a 12 level farm with 1000+ crops. a outdoor theatre. a decent 7 level workshop/complex. a mansion. a park. a weather observatory and more in the works. i dont mine except for desert planets. i like to surf! and i am definitely a treasure hunter!

i play solo. may try a multi in the future.

475hrs so far. hi...my name is Mark and i am a boundaholic

i used to kill all the hostiles. half the time i just pass them by if i can. too busy hunting for vanities, instruments and decorations for my building endeavours. i use a starcleaver sword for exploring the surface of1-9 systems. i use a "smash everything" constructed hammer for exploring L10s. i use a gun in prisons, castles, dungeons, etc... up to level 9, then my hammer.

1 main base. its currently in alpha, forest, acid rain.

My first character was a Floran. I've since created a Human and Apex. I enjoy my Apex much more than I thought I would.

I pretty much rushed through the game during my first playthrough. I took my time on my second and now I'm at the point where I'm building more than playing.

I enjoy collecting costumes and helping friends out. Other than that I enjoy building and coming up with my own big projects.

Me and 4 other friends play on a server together. I started playing alone at first but find playing with people more rewarding.

I've probably put over 150 hours into the game so far. I can see me putting a couple hundred more hours into it. More depending on the size of what I build.

I enjoy using a fast 2H if possible. I also love throwing bombs, grenades, javelins, etc.

I enjoy the snow, grassland and moon biomes the most. I am working on a main base as well as two custom ships.

I have to say that i prefer the Hytol or the Glitch so far, the Hytol is a suprise on me as i normally dont interest much for aquatic races but for once appearing like a peaceful race with the quirk of being a little eastern in style made them more interesting visually.
Glitch is mostly because of the robot aspect, but they kind of lost the appeal when you reach the "multiheaded" armor later on plus that european middle age style isnt what i would like to have on a robot in my opinion.
Least appealing is the Apex, basically hairy monkeys that is not really that different from humans.

Most likely going to do it on a semi-fast pace ( my pace appears so to others seemly ) i explore and pick up what i need on my way and progress ahead and i skip areas that doesnt offer me a step further in my progression, mindless exploring is mostly set later when i dont have any goals at hand.

Classing myself of myself to be that of an explorer and miner over that of a builder, digging for riches and searching the tombs of illgotten kings and the labs of the apex to the colonies of the humans, they all will be searched...and cleaned by my sword if they wont let me pass.

I am going to do my progression as the situation seem fit, if i have to be alone so be it, but i prefer to play among others and strive to a common goal. When i have reached my goal of getting the equipment of choice i will join other servers and explore with them....or against them.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?

My Steam profile ticked into 60 hours recently, i might stop playing Starbound until some of the more major changes to the game get into it or if i find a online server to play on. I dont want to become burned out on the game before i consider it finished, and if it will never reach that state i might abandon and forget it until i dig through my old titles again in the future.

And to note, my Terraria ticked into 235hours, so i will expect as long as a lifetime of Starbound.

I go by the style of a blink-assassin, target blink or the dash tech and dual swords to their troat, up close and personal and faster than they can unseathe their blades and unholster their firearms. Anything in my way will be slaughtered and those who have riches will be hunted for my gain.

Wanderer, i keep my stuff aboard my ship and if my ship run out of space i just have to do with the limited space and only bring along what will benefit me the most; be it resources, extra appeal or my bed.
Building bases will be a entertainment after my goal have been reached and when i find the planet that suit me, and then i will build until the planet surface have been terraformed.

I don't want to be a Glitch. Tried it, and the sounds he makes when he gets hurt gives me a headache... ATM my main is a human, cuz I saw how easy and powerful Hamburgers are. But I started a new one today that is an Apex named Little Ape, going to slaughter, renovate, and repopulate any Apex structures I find. Inspired by the fact that I saw the first Apex village today that had 'thought reassignment' in the basement of an apartment and a guard that said 'don't cause any trouble, if you do the Miniknog will take my family' Time to go all Maximum Ride on their @sses

Well, at first I was super scared of the first boss cuz of all the hubub with its initial release. After that I pretty much got impervium gear in the next 2 days. At this point I am probably going to set up a home planet around level 7, and then explore looking for more Vanity Armor (just got the whole Scientist set, so awesome )

I like to find and raid structures. I love seeing what loot I can get. Recently I've returned to Sector Beta with high level armor and guns. Its super fun cuz you cant get hurt and you oneshot everything. Just cuz I could, one time in a glitch fort I just walked around their base with all of them chasing me taking all their stuff. Then when I was done I grabbed my hammer and oneshot all the melee guys... then all the crossbowmen

Right now its all singleplayer, but the whole reason I got this game was because my friend threatened>asked>begged me too, and he has a Minecraft server set up already.

Never can tell with me... sometimes I get bored with a game and leave it alone for awhile, others I get really into one game for months at a time.

Melee, definitely. Ranged is Ok but my aim sucks, and I have Impervium Dual Blades and Hammer which 2 shot everything, whereas my gun is, like, Cerulian strength. And then theres one gun I have that shoots fire, really more for scouting caves and such than combat. Most of the time if something doesn't attack me, I won't go for it. The exception being Agarans that have a Floran locked up. Then they die and I save the Floran. I like Florans for some reason...
7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
I will definitely have one main base, but I might have some smaller bases scattered here and there while I do some Mob experiments. I didn't get the Scientist gear for nothing

1. Capture a Po from a level 10 planet
2. Capture the best possible monster from a level 10 planet (hoping for barb spray, maybe fire burst)
3. Capture every cute and funny looking monster I see
4. Find the Targeted Blink Tech
5. Find both Mechs
6. Find a Chef, Tool, Doctor, and Wizard spawner (got places in my ship all set up for them ^-^)
7. Go to a small level 8 planet with no meteors or acid rain and build a sprawling city/kingdom.
8. Build a seedy monster lab under my main house (MUAHAHAHAHAHAA!)

• Avian. I loved the idea of a bird person flying around in a space ship blowing stuff up. I don't know why, maybe it appealed to my inner sense of destructive and ironic glee (A bird needing a flying machine to fly). On the other side of the coin, I dislike the idea of playing Humans or Apex, mostly for the formality that they aren't all that creative to me.

• I surprised myself with my own answer on this. None of the above! I actually saw the potential with summonable NPCs and, well, after nearly three days of play time, I have an entire city, full with 34 (used to be 35, pesky flying birdsies!) guards, numerous generic "avian settlers", and various sellers that you get from drops or vendors around the world. I've done this to one world, and I'm currently almost ready for my second planet to be colonized.

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?

• Actually, I prefer archetectual design (oh, how fun!). Making things pretty and fit to a certain theme is just something that is so satisfying for me. It's weird, but I spend much more time on the earth and building then I ever did in my ship (outside of hunting for non-poison-water-planets without meteors or acid rain).

• Solo and/or with friends. It's too easy to destroy a fragile building as I found out in Terraria. (criiinge)

5. How many hours do you think you('re/'ve) (going to/have been) playing?

• I've been playing roughly 8 - 10 hours a week.

 

Personally, my favorite race is definitely the Avians. My name is Jay, so I've always liked birds because it seemed so fitting.

For actual gameplay, I generally stay in one tier/threat level until I "max" it out. By this, I mean that I stay in the tier until I get the best armor and weapons I can get at that point.

My only base right now is my spaceship, I just store all my chests and crafting tables there. However, I do have plans to establish a large, hi-tech base on an actual planet soon.
