All, but primarily Novakid on Easy(already using the NovaKid+ mod), then Human on Medium, and Floran on Hard.

2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?
Bit of everything. Base/Ship building, farming, mining, combat, exploring, and quests. Probably no rushing though, but we will get to Sector X(and beyond if something else is created) eventually. Once the quests are in place, we will go onto the harder difficulties.

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?
Build, explore, and find new stuff.

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?
Majority will be with my girlfriend, maybe a bit alone/with other friends, and even less with the general public.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
Currently at 210 hours, 190 were in Angry Koala. We honestly could not guess. Probably 2000+ hours if things stay good with the game.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
Melee mostly, though we saw the Sorcerers of Starbound mod. Might primary magic if that mod turns out as great as it seems. Fighting the majority of enemies.

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
We are using Madtulip's Custome Ship mod, so our ships will be our primary bases. With lots of towns, monuments, and structures spread across the universe. We use the combination of Variety is the spice of the Universe and Starscape, so it is tough to choose a favorite biome. But we would say that Snow would be the best vanilla biome.

Glitch. Just because Bender Rodriguez.

Craft equipment, loot equipment, rob equipment. And kill everything there is to kill.

Explore and kill pretty much everything. Build when I get bored of that.

I'm not sure yet, my ISP is not very good. I'd like to play with friends to take the bigger bosses down and lay some good ol' terror on peaceful planets.

Many.

Mid-range (melee that shoots stuff) and Ranged. I kill aggresive creatures.

A main home underground in my crappy home-planet and the biggest ship I can fully equipped. I love des(s)ert.

Human. Kind of a random pick for my first char. I intend to play at least one of each.

Not rush but Advance to the highest danger levels. "Win the game."

I am a hoarder and I love mining. I keep everything. I like hoarding tons of valuables.

Mostly alone. We are three friends playing on the same server. At first wanted to teamed up to kill the bosses and the like but after seeing how easy the game is we just started doing our own things by ourselves. Sharing knowledge and stories.

Hard to give a number. Currently its getting all my gaming time. Which is about 1-2 hrs à day when I'm lucky. Sometimes more on weekends. I would gladly put 10hrs a day on it like in the good old times but there is this "being a father" and "job" thingy getting in the way.


6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?

Start with range and finish with a melee. Unless I want meat. I fight hostiles only.

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?

My main base is my ship so I am really looking forward to being able to upgrade it and make more rooms. I may considere the possibility of building something in the highest tier sector but I am not sure. I have other chars to bring there first.
At the time being, my favorite biome is desert. For the abondance of ores to gear up and advance the game.

 

1. Glitch. Because techno and stuff. I sometimes play Human because of the burger though.

2. I played my first character quickly through all the way to top tier.

3. I play differently for each of characters. Currently I'm playing my way through the game normally, but I'm leaning a bit to being a farmer.

4. I used to play on a server, but it got shut down when it was too unstable. I now play Singleplayer, but I still meet my friends on servers to trade.

5. I've played 130 hours. Now that I have more free time, it is likely I will play around 6-8 hours per day.

6. I'm mixed, normally I use melee, unless I'm fighting a flying mob or the planet has very low gravity.

7. Colonies. I have 1 main home planet and then I venture to another system. I
pick systems with many planets (50 and 1 fuel cost ftw) and I settle in on every one of those planets. So yea, you'd imagine me being grumpy during the previous wipes

 

1) Human, perhaps a Novakid.
2) Always rush, all the time.
3) Space rockstar, I find all the instruments and vanity items.
4) I play with friends, though when things are more stable and servers can share .pak files, I'll likely either start a big server or join one.
5) Well, I've already got 140 in, I'd probably say at least quadruple that since I'm slowly getting into modding too.
6) I dodge most enemies, and I use the new slave sword most of the time. Multiple ranged enemy penetration is a beast.
7) I have a small asteroid base I use for a main base, but I'm not going to bother building that up until universe wipes are gone.

A: Avian. I love the egyptian themed things about the race, and their little bird faces are adorable.

A: Monster collector and focus on building up my homeworld with amazing decor... Maybe like the Sims.... Maybe.

A: I really like to go around each planet looking at the surfaces, cutting down trees for new species, and finding vanity items.

A: Yes with friends. I only play singleplayer for collecting supplies and being able to keep up with them if they need help.

A: So far I've played 77 hours in total, if that's counting for anything.

A: Melee, I'm bad at aiming in this game. I'd rather run from things though, unless I'm letting my monsters level.

A: A main base for my homeworld, maybe camps when I got to other worlds. I'm not sure what biome I'll like the most, they're all rather nice... Although my favorite has to be the ice biome with the ice bubble trees.

I play an avian, I named it birdbird and feel that titles would be great for something like 'birdbird, the destroyer' or somesuch.

I plan on progressing through everything that can be progressed. I'm upgrading armor, beating bosses, collecting a variety of unique seeds, I'm collecting max stacks of ore and bars, and I also collect items that seem to be rare and one of a kind (or almost one of a kind.) I think the addition of incredibly rare items, even one of a kind items, sets a game apart.

I play with my friends sometimes, but I generally tend to spelunk and mine for several hours at a time. As for what I do in games, I like searching for rare hats.

I generally play starbound in my free time. It hasn't gotten boring yet, and I enjoy searching over different planets to see what they have. I definitely think this is starbound's strongest spot, exploration.

I like to evade enemies, and I think items/accessories/techs that assist in evasion while also allowing you mobility (like double jumping) are essential. Without a level up system, fighting redundant amounts of enemies becomes boring. I prefer melee because guns don't seem to have significant knockback and the enemy is already in melee range by the time you've started. I love the variety of enemies and the neutral enemies and definitely think those elements should be played on. Maybe even a way to teach neutral mobs your language so they can become NPCs as opposed to just neutral mobs and befriend that specific type of mob.

My ship is my base, so I feel anything that can be done to improve the ship is definitely a bonus. Perhaps unlockable separate slots that act as an item bank, or safety deposit box, in the initial item storage your ship has. That would be fun to see, and fun to hold more items.

My favorite biome is the warmer ones right now, because of the cold factor making you take out campfires. If more armor had warmth upgrades, or there was a type of back armor that kept you warm, ice biomes would be my favorite.

Hope that feedback helps some keep up the great work. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite games as it is, and I know it's only going to get better.

 

1. I mostly play the Avians, with a little human on the side. But I really like the way all of the races look!
2. I'm just taking my time, exploring, moving from planet to planet.
3. I enjoy building, learning about crafting and farming a bit. I'm always thrilled to find a new dungeon, and love exploring. Treasure is always good, too!
4. I play both single player and multiplayer. I host my own private server for friends. Sometimes I hop in public servers just to explore.
5. Way too many hours. I've already played it nearly more than many of the games I got last year... and that's only a month's time.
6. I'm a melee player. I tend to leave the peaceful creatures alone and fight only what's aggressive. Sometimes I just want to keep moving, and will skip some of the attacks.
7. I like to build up one main base, with smaller bases in the different sectors. I tend to stick to forest biomes, but I really like the new savannah!

 

1. I like the Humans the most, and I absolutely hate the apex, because I hate apes in general.
2. I am past my first character, but my first character was a master builder.

5) So far, first character, 40 hours. No shame.

7) Hard to say. Having a home base is appealing, but for now I enjoy the open..space.

 

1. My favorite race is Floran, just based on their personality and aesthetics. Right now I'm playing a Glitch, which is fun too.
2. My first character was basically me trying to figure out how to platform, something I've always been bad at, and collecting stuff. My hope was that I'd be able to mostly just explore and build, though that didn't turn out to be possible due to everything being gated with combat.
3. I get tired of the combat REALLY FAST. I like exploring and building, with a little farming on the side. I'm really disappointed to see how little focus is on these aspects of the game, especially since the devs obviously worked so hard to make them good.
4. I like to play with other people when I can, but right now it's not feasible due to mod incompatibilities, slow internet connection, and frequent server crashes. I prefer a large server which is always on.

6. When I have to fight, I prefer melee because I don't have the reflexes to actually hit my target with missile. I avoid combat whenever possible and dread the boss battles.
7. I want to build up one main base, but first I have to find a planet I'm sure won't get pummeled by meteors. As there is currently no way of determining whether a planet will have them, I'm holding off on building, though it's frustrating to have to keep waiting. I really thought they were going to fix this in the last update...

 

1. Personally my favorite race is the humans, because of the scarcity of them. There are no human towns that I've come across, and it makes me curious.
2. My first character was just one that i really didn't think id be with for long. I was just testing the game out and seeing if it was too much like terraria. I really started slow at first but then rushed through all the danger levels and got me some impervium.
3. I love treasure hunting. Everytime I find a random chest spawned my mind goes crazy with what could be inside. It's mostly just torches and dyes tho...
4. Id like to play with other people, but single player has kept me super interested so far.
5. A LOT. Too many to comfortably tell someone.
6. Normally its melee, but recently I found a nice pulse rifle that is doing me well at ranged battle.
7. I can't keep track of multiple bases. One home base is all i need, and it will hopefully be expansive.

 

Hylotls are the best. There ship, weapons and cultural style is awesome. I hate the primitive races, so un-space-like
I try to first stabilize my character (get a good weapon, make the tools and crafting stations), then explore as quickly as I can.
I don't love mining, but having at least one huge mine shaft is very fun.
I play with friends on a small private server.

Apex is my most-played race. Love the armor, the race itself reminds me of the Planet of the Apes movies I grew up on, and I love the dystopian society angle. So far, love how unique and varied all the races are, don't really find any of them 'unappealing'.

Caesar, my apex, is content to simply explore the universe, although eventually he may start up a colony away from the prying eyes of the Miniknog, should he find a hospitable enough planet.

Mining is definitely enjoyable, but exploring and combat is really what excites me. Nothing like finding an ancient temple, a mid-breakout prison, or a peaceful village of robotic peasants, and seeing what shenanigans one can get up to.

Er... I'm pretty anti-social and don't really find any enjoyment in pvp. I may eventually play with several real-life friends or my girlfriend, but that'd be about it.

I've had this for over a week and have already sunk in nearly 80 hours.... I think Starbound'll be like the Elder Scrolls, Fallout, or Diablo series in that I'll never really stop playing. Countless, I suppose would be the word then?

I typically prefer long-range combat, but it's always important to have a melee fallback weapon. If it's hostile and a threat, I take it down faster than a plate of bananacon!

For the most part, my ship will be my primary base; I can't wait for ship upgrades to be available so I can have rooms dedicated to different purposes! I'm hoping to find a fairly peaceful Forest-biome world to try and create my own village/city eventually tho'.

I'm playing extremely slowly... Hoarding everything I see... And exploring, I love exploring... I'm 35+ hours into the game, and not even close to summoning 2nd boss...

Exploring, mining, treasure hunting... This game is magnificent in doing anything and everything!

Everything that attacks me, will be killed... Yes, absolutely!

I made a peaceful little town of Raknor on my home (and first) planet... It's a forest biome, not sure if I like it the most, but it's nice...

Starting off as an Avian, they're my favorite of the races, though I also like most of the others as well.

Made him in Permadeath mode for a stronger reason for story connection (not sure why he'd be afraid to get killed by the Stargazers or by Kluex for heresy if he could just respawn Xp), and I'm mostly going to read all the lore and work my way as fast as I can to Impervium materials, then maybe relax and enjoy what I've made.

I love to build stuff and explore, but I hate mining sooo much, except to find deep caves to adventure in, though now that I've found a guitar and some vanity-wear, maybe hunting for those, too

Maybe at some point, but for the moment, I'll just focus on working my way up to the premium building materials (just hit titanium ^.^)

So far, I'm loving melee with the hammers, but I have yet to try dual-wielding. I smash anything that looks at me funny, but I've almost died giving unknown creatures a chance to not attack first several times Xp

One large main colony or base, and a series of smaller bases throughout the tiers for rest areas. So far, I think I enjoy the forest biome the most, but that may just be because I started there, and it seems pretty mellow in comparison to the variety of others I've dealt with.

Floran - ever since coming across a apex tank with an apex trapped inside, all other PC races say something along the lines of "how horrible". the floran response? "Sssoup!"

My mission in any game is to find weird stuff. be it glitches, amusing places or just creative uses of the mechanics to produce something that makes me laugh.

I'd like to, If i can find a group of people who enjoy just messing around.

as many as possible given my full time job.

Theres nothing more satisfying than running up to a giant monster and whacking it in the face with a large axe. unless its shooting pigs from a catapult at it...

main base on home planet, a few outposts on others once bookmarking is possible. I currently enjoy the jungle biome the most.

 

As of right now, my playstyle is: Get to a new sector, check the number of metal ore I'll need to make the boss-item, dig down into the empty-but-filled-with-ore safety of the underground, make boss item as quickly as possible, get to new sector.

Rinse, repeat.

I kinda want to get to sector X with level 4 armor and build my base on a level 10.

Glitch, something's just rad about not having internal organs but still needing food.

To make friends with bird people on one planet and then never visit them again and do this for every planet with bird people.

I like long walks on the desert, adventuring, and being treated nicely by bird people.

With friends occasionally. I need to get non-British friends so I don't rubberband harder than Mario Kart AI. Who wants to be friends?

My friends describe me as a loving, caring person. So of course I'm going to purge the impure oddities of the universe.

I'm going to wander around aimlessly until I meet the woman of my dreams. Gonna (somehow) have kids and live on a nice quiet moon.
