1. So far I'm liking Floran and Apex. I don't like the way most of the racial armor looks on humans. Floran speaks to my desire to destroy everything and Apex speaks to my rebellious side.
2. My first true character will probably engage in all activities. Trying not to turn entire planets into farms, but the way I obsess about having enough food all the time, that's hard for me to do. Pretty much whatever strikes me at that moment be it slaughtering everything, farming the land or tunneling below ground.
3. I'll likely do pretty much all the things; my dry run characters have engaged in a variety of activities and there is nothing I'm directly focused on... except growing stronger.
4. I have small group of friends I occasionally play with, otherwise I'm normally alone... and angry... and murderous...
5. Tough question to answer. I've taken time off since the Angry Koala patch because I crave more content. Eagerly awaiting the coming patch.
6. I'm flexible, though I do have an affinity for plunging things full of holes. My personal favorite tactic is putting a gun in my off hand and a one handed blade in my primary... aka the WH40K Commissar method.
7. This honestly depends on the character. My Apex characters have had a centralized base on an alpha class world and temporary bases in new sectors that are usually either broken down or abandoned as soon as I move on. My Floran chose to make her ship her home and decorated it up like the inside of a Floran hut, complete with trophies taken from various Avian and Apex villages I slaughtered.

--- I'd rather play some kind of insectoid (non mod) but I'll be playing as a human. I'm a big Farscape fan and I like the idea of being a human stuck in space.

2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?
--- I always plant some kind of a base down, I like to build, so depending on how often I expect world wipes... I build little or big things. I also like to make sure I have a farm with the food that I know how to make. Then I mine... I mine for a LONG time. Then I go to the next planet... but not before I'm tired of the first.

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?
---I like to collect ore and build stuff. Mining doesnt get boring at all.

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?
--- No plans as of yet for multiplayer.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
--- Depends on how development goes. I have over 800 hrs played in Terraria... so if it keeps it fresh... probably a lot.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
---Melee, and I don't fight everyone... sometimes I hop over and LEG IT!

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
--- I always build a main base... and if they add more map points I'll make more bases on other planets. So far I like the Jungle biome, but I've not gotten far because I refuse to meta-game in beta.

  • Already chose Human, technically, but I really am thinking of trying Floran! I met the most endearing Floran once... I will forge peaceful, working relations with offworld colonies! I will make villages! I will secretly assassinate corrupt leaders and subjugate oppressive regimes like a true adventurer!

  • I hate mining. I like exploring, but I hate mining. I'm so tired of mining, god... But I love building, so it's a necessary evil if I want all the nice blocks. I am not a fan of pillaging, so I replace anything I take from villages, but I have led a coup against oppressive Apex regimes, liberated Floran prisoners, built villages, and probably will be spending a lot of my time with the music. I also like collecting hats. Mmyes.

  • I went on public servers at least once, but I would prefer playing on a small server with like-minded friends who won't destroy and kill everything. There is more to life than murder.

  • Hahahahahahaha ha ha ha haaaa.... too many.

  • I won't normally hit anything that doesn't want to kill me. I like the aesthetics of wildlife on the planets I visit (I just don't want to die). That said, I carry big hammers, a rocket launcher twice my size, and a tiny plasma machine pistol for those moments where murder is unavoidable. I prefer ranged, but I like the sound of evil being squished under my iron gavel of justice.

  • I will make multiple bases, one for each quadrant. I have a master list of all points of interest, with all the coordinates for each leg, arm, and finger of my humble empire. Long live the queen!

Hylotl/Novakids because they all look so cool! And I've already made a back story for both of them!

First I will play it safe, get pixels and ores, then I will go on a massive adventure when I'm ready!

I personally like to play more roleplaying like then to mine all day, and I love exploring for treasure!

I prefer either long ranged melee (like katanas) or extra long ranged... Ranged?

At least two main base, one on a semi-peaceful planet/biome and one on my ship!

I like the Florans, but I also play as Hylotls, Glitch and humans.

I never rush. I like to explore a lot and sometimes I even forget that there is another tier.

I like to search for the "perfect" homeword. It should have, among others, the following characteristics:

- a nice view in the sky (preferably a gas giant and many moons)
- no poison/lava near the spawn point
- normal gravity
- no apex labs or human prisons (that gives me the impression that the planet is visited regularly. I want it for myself!)

It takes a lot of time to find a planet with all that, but it's ok because I love exploring.

I rarely play multiplayer.

Hundreds.

I love guns.

I will have a very large castle, a restaurant, a village and a cabin in the woods. Oh, and also many prisons for hylotls.

The first characters we played were a pair of Apex named Vegeta and Ghost Napa, just to be as silly and violent as possible as we learned the game.

I like to talk to myself in an accent as I play... and role-play as much as possible.

Probably just with friends.

A vast number.

Is taking away the blocks and letting them fall into the poison or lava considered a fighting style?

Many bases, naturally. And my bases must match the biome.

 

1. Floran, for sure. Just love the general look of them honestly, and I like the fact that I can feel superior to the rest of my race. Also, I like to use Latin "scientific" names of plants, currently playing as Galanthus Plicatus (snowdrop) and Muscari Aucheri (grape hyacinth).

2. I rush, hard. I don't even bother upgrading my gear between level 5 and 10.

3. After that, I just love to do a lot of exploring and mining.

4. If I can find some people I like, will join or host a decent sized server. None of my friends like the game :/

5. Hours? Lots.

6. I use a combination of assault rifles and snipers, but have a hammer for when they're too weak.

7. I personally like to just have one huge base, as well as having most of my stuff jammed in my ship. Bases are typically underground, I like snowy biomes, and hoping I can find a snow planet with meteorites falling from the sky (so I can put a strong surface on my base (love pressurized steel, I assume it can handle meteors.

I love being a bird slashing fast acting Avian!

I like to dig into danger and get to the action right away and then after that bathe in my TREASURES!

A little bit of both. I like to explore more then mine and getting materials.

A small community is nice to have around and go on raids with.

I woul probably prefer melee over ranged unless ranged action includes, GUNS!

- I made a Floran guy that I really like will definitely be recreating him, probably try to get recipes for Avian armor for him because of feathers and flying and all that stuff (Isn't there something about Avian armor letting you glide? Is that a thing yet?). The Hylotles are really cool looking, too... and Glitches. But I'm attached to my Floran guy so it's not a tough decision

- I have no clue... I'll be looking for the right planet to call home before I settle down, and I'll probably be advancing through levels along the way.

- Definitely a treasure hunter and I love exploring and finding caverns and such underground, so no, mining doesn't get old

- I'll probably play with other youtubers I've met that have the game, the one who gifted me the game for sure.

- ... I'm honestly not even going to try to predict a number

- I prefer ranged, but with the absurd amount of food you get using a bow I've been just using melee. I want hunger to be a challenge in this game, so I don't like always having tons of alien meat

- I'll probably have a main base once I find the right planet, but I love creating all kinds of different place, so I'll have smaller bases all over, too.

I am playing Avain right now, and I am never really interested in humans in sci-fi/fantasy settings.

Right now I am playing my first character and trying to work out how to plant trees

Shoot from a range, then go melee when they come closer, and I'll most likely kill everything that comes across my path

I'm gonna be Apex obviously! The furry little guys appeal to me for some reason. Like Ewoks with frickin laser rifles.

Take my time and enjoy the game. Build stuff. Farm stuff. Make castles and mansions and laboratories and everything!

Everything becomes boring before long so variance is key.

Both. I'll probably have my own little game locally but also get together on a server somewhere to enjoy the company and build some really epic stuff together.

I'm always going for a sneaky and/or ranged style so ranged will most likely be my way to go.

Probably one main base plus several small ones to rest on my wanderings. No idea about the biomes but tentacles are so odd I kinda wanna love them.

2. I'm planning on leveling and exploring until I find a good planet to build a homestead on.
3. I enjoy mining and searching for treasure. I'm searching for musical instruments at the moment.
4. I'm going to play with friends on a private server.

7. I'm going to start with a small homestead and farm. Eventually I'll build a village to go along with it. I probably won't build anything beyond that until the beta is over.

 

This is for my current character.
1.Glitch. Because is quite fitting for my combat style.
2. Not in a rush, but definately not peaceful farming.
3. Exploring and, of course, trying to find new musical instruments.
4. Playing with my friend.
5. It's already over one hundred, so i think it would be long run.
6. Sword and shield for dungeons, two-handed against animals. Not killing anything that moves, though.
7. I feel no need to build a base for myself, because i can store everything i need on my ship.

2. I'm going to do as I please; right now he's farming...but 2 hours earlier he was happily chopping through a cabalist castle.
3. Well I follow a strict 3-step plan...comprising off; Exploring, Stripmining, Moving along (with the exception of my homebase; which is 1 giant farm)
4. Solo for 80% of the time; unless I can find some company that can keep up with my irregular working schedule
5. As much as I can before I get bored.
6. Up close and personal for me but I won't kill EVERY critter I see; my farm is stacked too high for birds to leave me alone
7. Usually I build 1 (big) homebase which will act as my farm and processing plant while I will build a smaller "woodshack" on each and every planet I visit (so I know where I've been before and to quickly see what exactly that "woodshack" is "producing"

I started my Avian first character after the wipe last night. I like the idea of having one main base and smaller bases for specific harvesting purposes. My engineering creativity will determine how many hours I put into the game. In terraria I built a giant tower that looked like the male junk and worked on it tediously until it was done. I look forward to doing the same in Starbound.
