1. I like hylotl the best. I like aquatic style (water is my favorite element out of the four "fire, water, air, earth), the aesthetics of them, and I love how they're based off of Japanese culture. The only thing I don't like about them is their lore. A race I would never play is would be Florans and Humans. Florans because most of their starting clothing looks very partial and short because they're tribal. They hate hylotls also. Humans because they're just too dull... I mean. A regular human race?

2. Be a peaceful farmer.
Just live at home, do some hard work, and live a normal life.

3. I like joining groups on multiplayer and exploring to a far planet with them to get lost, and then we end up getting good loot and what not.

4. I play with my bro, and I play on public servers sometimes.

7. I will have a lot of temporary homes if I get stranded and lacking coal, but I could never stay on one planet.

 

1. By far my favorite race is Avian! I don't know what I find so interesting about them, partly the tribal factor. Other than that, I don't know.
2. I prefer to take my time farming, collecting resources, getting prepared for the more dangerous levels and all that stuff.
3. I love building a nice farm and mining, hoping to find a dungeon!
4. I don't know about any servers, plus I would prefer a private server with my friends.
5. Over 9000 of course.
6. I personally like using a sword and shield.
7. I like to have a main base. I kind of want to civilize a whole planet with farms, and I would also hope that there would be towns so it wouldn't just be my character on the planet.

My friends and I are going through the game as humans. I think they're interested to see how the human story plays out, but I'm more interested in the Glitch. I think that I'm going to start solo as a glitch when the next wipe happens.

We usually just breeze through sectors... I like finding minerals and such and building up so I can keep seeing new things. At some point I'd like to create a whole society with villages and such. I think that would be pretty neato, even if the NPCs wouldn't behave the way I want them to.

I have a specific group of online friends with whom I play. We've known each other for years. Just the six of us; I can't imagine playing on huge public servers.
I've already got 70 hours in

I like to use spears. Guns just don't pack enough punch for me, so spears give me power and decent range at the cost of the oscillation of a sword.

I like to just roam around, but we have a few small bases scattered around various planets. I really enjoy jungle and forest biomes, they feel really at home to me.

6. I prefer ranged but I do have to resort to melee when things get out of hand.
7. I like to spend most of my building time dedicated to a single main base and have smaller basses as 'temporary shelter' for when traveling back to the main base takes too long.

A. I like to jump around, currently I got 2 Florian (only cause I don't know how to delete characters), 1 Hylotl, and 1 Human, I'll definately make an Avian and a Novakid when the race becomes avalible, and maybe a glitch, but while I love their personal armors, I don't really feel like being a robot.

Q. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?

A. First Character (human) will clear the bosses as quickly as possible, currently getting ready to fight to jelly, I intend to spend alotta time on lvl 10 planets after that, fleeing for my life, mining what I can and hopefully find some nice endgame chests and villages and things.

After my first character I'll go a bit slower with the rest and explore planets in each sector, finding and cataloging points of interest.

Q. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?

A. Mining, chest hunting, building bases, collecting rare artifacts and items, and when it's still possible to USE the bow to kill things in 2-3 hits, I enjoy hunting. They need to make more bow upgrades.

Q. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?

A. I'd LIKE to play with others, but I'm sure much of this community came over from minecraft, so there are probably alotta Player Hunters, Raiders, Grievers, and Trojans(pretend to work with you then turn on you and take all your stuff.) If I can find a nice server without ANY of those, I'd happily consider joining it, I LOVE working with other people on projects, both mine and theirs.

Q. How many hours do you think you're going to play?

A. Alot, after work and in the wee hour of the morning, I've got a late-night-weekday job so when I get home from work and when I wake up in the morning before work, I have no life so why not? I do tend to play a game non-stop until I get bored of it, but games like this sometimes develop a "pointlessness" feeling if I play singleplayer too long, I enjoy Showing my work so to speak, so if i find a good online community that doesn't just rob my base blind every time I have some nice stuff, I probably wont be bored.

Q. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?

A. At the time of posting this, guns are severly disadvantaged, though I may keep one on my person should I find one thats atleast capible of killing anything. I enjoy the 2-handed swords, but would like to dabble in sword and shield but need some practice. As far as personal defense goes however; EVERY BASE I MAKE will be guarded on both sides by a "Wall of turrets". When on a new planet, it's better to swing first, then see if it's hostile later, once I got a good idea of what wants to kill me, and what is indifferent, I'll mostly ignore those that mean no harm to me.

A. After playing around and making and packing up 3 bases I've decided that I'll make my home base in the alpha sector, so that I could potentially farm meat with the bow on low level creatures, and perhaps have some smaller bases on planets I frequently visit (like with big villages or something, writing down and keeping coordinates of them for later.

As for which biomes, that's a difficult question as of yet, most places I've gone ALL seem to be very "hilly" regardless of biomes, Deserts, Grasslands, Arids, forests, Jungles, Is it too much to ask for some flatland for building?, I've heard of the "barren" planet type in Sector X that the wiki says would be good for building perhaps, I might like those.

 

1. My favorite race are the Florans, but after the wipe I think I'm going to play as a human and just kind of immerse myself in the setting.
2. Right now, I'm playing a Floran and I basically just wander, looking for resources, hunting etc. I think once I start my human character I will try to make things more permanent. Build a house, start a farm, start a mine etc.
3. I really like looking for villages right now. So I guess just searching for other life on these planets is what I've been up to.
4.Generally I like to play games alone, but I wouldn't be opposed to playing on a small server with a close knit group of people.
5. I'm not sure yet. I want to tone it back until more stuff gets developed for the game, but I just love exploring so much
6. I prefer the melee weapons mostly because I'm still in tier 3 and haven't found a ranged weapon worth my time. Usually I'll try to pick off a solitary target with my bow though, so I'm not fighting hordes of enemies
7. I'll probably have several bases, but most of the smaller ones will be just camps or something. Right now I have a house in the beta sector, but I don't visit it too often. My favorite biome would have to be the Jungle though.

 

1) Easily a Novakid. Who doesn't want to be a walking star with a heavy southwest drawl!
2) I honestly just try to explore every single planet I come across. I want the most out of my experience.
3) I like to tame monsters! I'm not a fan of digging at all, so fuck that. I'll just dig the surface ore.
4) I kind of wanna join a larger-sized clan. I love to just screw around with folks.
5) It depends. I could spend maybe ten hours and drop it or spend thousands.

Hylotl, cause' my friends and I all had to "call" our races. I got the Hylotl.
For me, the humans just seem dull and boring, I already played as a human in other games, why this time too?

Collect everything. All the crops, furniture, blocks. Not the weapons though, too much weapons.

I tried mining for 30 min, got bored. So now I jumping from planet to planet collecting everything I see on the surface.

Melee. Welding two short-swords and the energy dash makes me feel like one of the people from "attack on titan".
No, I don't like killing the passive ones. They did nothing wrong and its interesting to learn what the passive mobs are on each planet.

One main base underground. Preferably on a desert biome, with sand. There's something that I like about the sand physics that I don't understand. Sure its annoying to mine but there's something about it that makes it pleasing...

 

1. I want to be defiant and start as a Human, but the Avian's are also calling to me.
2. My plans are to be a "well known" hunter.
3. Treasure hunting, rare items and such.
4. I would like to play with other people on a PvE type server, and friends if I can make some.

6. I want to be a melee character, but I'll wait to see if the ranged pistol weapons change anymore in the Beta.
7. I want to have many smaller "camps", being a treasure hunter means I have no place to call home.

 

1. Avian, Hylotl, and Floran. They are all pretty unique in there own way.

3. I like to do both. Sadly, once you hit end game there is no real point to doing either.

4. I like playing with other people, and friends. Sadly, I get in trouble for useing self made mods. *even if they are harmless, and have ben proven to be harmless.*

5. It varies. depending on what I plan on doing.

6. i like to use range, and the mech tech. I really wish the mech was better by default so I don't have to modify it to make it viable.

7. I like to have one main base. Building a giant town and filling it with npcs is always fun for me ^^.

5.) ~100 Hours played, 10 times as much is gonna be possible (like it is/was in minecraft) and likely.

My new main since the wipe is Avian. Avian and Florian are my two favourites right now. I do like all the designs but Apex then Human will be my last two choices.

I'll be exploring and probably rushing to the mid planets, no experience with highest danger planets, I'll probably spend some time making a main base on a middle planet; when I get to the highest I'll make a fortress of some sort.

I really enjoy everything, though I haven't farmed much yet. Still just collecting resources before I move off the starter planet.

Solo so far but I think it would be a tonne of fun to play with friends or strangers.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
Steam's tracking is weird and it thinks I've played 30 hours, 17 is my average for a game I really like (disregarding TF2, Dota2, and NS2). I can see myself burying upwards of a hundred hours into this.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
I like to mix it up. Sometimes I will be cautious but it's also fun to be reckless and test myself under duress. With passive enemies it's more of a whimsy but it can be fun to live with them and they tend to brighten the place up.

The base I'll use the most will be built up but I like to have a bunch of workstations close to where I'm exploring. Big place in a middle risk planet, small bases littered everywhere (but sometimes they're portable), then a huge vanity fortress on a deadly planet.

Human and Glitch are the Races i like the most. don't really like the rest too much , but Apex the least, but thats just my personal taste xD

As in most other Games with similar choices, i play pretty slow-paced, which means i'll spend a lot of time savely mining and crafting stuff (including growing stuff), until i feel like im prepared to leave to later sectors and higher threat levels with the best gear i could make at the time.

I LOVE exploring, so a huge motivation for playing the game is definetly finding new places (dungeons/cities) and treasures. I don't really mine THAT much, mostly only until i have enough of the ores i need to craft whatever i want at the time, often getting a little extra reserve, just in case i need some more later xD

As for right now, i think i'll stick with Singleplayer or Co-op with a friend or two on private servers, mainly because i personally prefer it that way, and probably also because im too afraid of possible griefers..

a lot. and i mean a LOT xD

Melee, considering that i rarely find ranged weapons and that they are also pretty hard to use imo (and melee does more damage lol).
Normally, i only fight hostile monsters. i only fight the peaceful ones if they have something i want, e.g. meat.
same thing applies for NPC's, with the exception that i probably never attack peacful ones (unless i hit them by accident lol)

I'll have one main base, since it seems pointless to me having more when i can only port back to one home (for now). Biome-wise i prefer the Worlds that are most Earth-like. Guess i can't help to get homesick^^
Can't ever imagine myself enjoying planets with acid rain, poisonous water or brain-trees xD

 

1. Hylotl, just because they seem to be the most "alien" of all the races, and I like playing as exotic races in games like this.

2. Probably just to gradually work my way up the "food chain" so to speak. I don't like jumping straight into danger without being prepared.

3. I prefer to hunt for treasure, but I'm not opposed to mining if I'm in need of some new gear and/or starship fuel.

4. Probably alone because I don't have a great deal of friends. I might test the waters of a small public server, though.

6. I prefer to keep my distance, but I keep a good sword with me since the hit detection on ranged weapons is a bit wonky. Normally, I only fight monsters that attack me first, but I'm not opposed to fighting some peaceful ones if I need food.

7. Having multiple smaller bases seems inefficient, since you would need to spend a lot of fuel to travel between them unless they're all in the same system. In games like this, I prefer to have my base in Earth-forest type biomes since those feel the most safe, although I do enjoy the idea of having a secret base in an asteroid field (although that's a ways off since I need a life support unit before that even becomes a possibility).

Glitch -> Apex -> Human in that order. I love me some medieval 'bots. The Apex since they're not quite human and the humans cause they are

Max out at each tier, build a quaint base of operations at the first Roddenberry class planet I come across. Practice agriculture.

Explore the top side with occasional soil sampling here and there. I don't mind mining untill I have adequate ammounts of the ore I need. I also like purging Avian villages of all life

I don't mind going Han SOLO. I've applied at a few "whitelist" servers but I'll go wherever the IPs/stars take me.

I've clocked in about 30-40 hours thus far.

I'm always trying to pack the top of whatever weapon tier I'm currently at. The question that should be asked is if you prefer dual wielding guns/swords/daggers or if you prefer 2 handed weapons. Or maybe a dagger/sword in one hand and a pistol in the other...and so on. I personally do whatever the situation presents. And no, I do not fight every monster, especially in Delta and X sectors

Gonna definitely have one main home base, most likely in the Beta or Gamma sectors. Of course our ships will be "mobile" bases in itself. I like the astroid biomes myself. Of course the large ammounts of ore is definitely an eye catcher but I like the fact that you have to traverse the landscape vertically versus horizontally. Nice touch Chucklefish!

I think i will make Apexesess and Floransess, Because i have played all the other races and found theses most fitting me.

2.First char?
Oh... That was a while ago. Made a Glitch, He saw the star and became a legendary hero(x sector and impervium stuff.)

3.Most enjoyable things about starbound?
Exploration, Finding buildings. (more ruins would rock)
I have two screens, for my computer. One right now for starbound and the other one for youtube. I have played 197 hours starbound so far and i haven't gotten bored yet.
I actually love the mindnumbing grinding. And more then a few times i RP that the caves im in are unstabel and stuff so i have to get wood for supports. love it all.
Im Not a farmer.

4.Alone?
Yeah alone. Most of my friends say "No i dont want to play terraria or starbound. Minecraft is better because 2d is bad grafics". Public servers, yeah if i find one that is stable.

5. Hours?
197 so far.
I am aiming for 1000 hours, if space is as huge as i think it is.

6.Combat preferenses?
Honestly i love low gravity sniper rifle trickshots in a meteor shower with a purple flower on my back super charging my rifle. And i really like murdering sentient beasts most. Is that wrong of me?

7. Home?
If i get good at building buildings with this pixilated style- I will strive to make a great city. Industrycity ruins on an ocean planet.

 

1.The race that stabs the best is what I will play and certainly not them holier then thou hylotl
2.Circle the planet, harvest all the things, stab everything else. Then dig around for a bit before moving on to more interesting planets/moons exc.
3. My favored activities are stabbing all the things and maybe making a few friends.
4. Unlikely, that I ever would because of how complicated it is to do so.
5. I play about maybe 3 hours a week do to work constrains and home noise levels making it hard to even enjoy the game.
6. stab all the badies, stab any good guys that get in the way until dead. respawn and repeat. Money is not a problem late game anyways.
7.wonder around until I find a higher tiered planet with good merchants and pretty trees and then make that my home base until I get bored of it, then stab all the things before moving on to a new planet.

 

1.Playing as a Floran, Because their lifestyle in general. Savages,Literally is Mother Nature, And Over All Awesome.
2. I prefer to get all the hard things done first due to my personality...
3. Me? I'm usually going to get my base set up and fortify it when i'm done with my treasure hunting.
4. I play alone if I don't feel like being in a clustered server but I love playing with people Over All

6. If you knew me... The possibility of me with a ranged weapon is very low...but i'm going to try and be different and be the ranged type i'm going to have to get use to it though

Explore, kill, mine, hunt T1 for food (because no T10 hunting knife equivalent exists), and farm vines for bandages. Since this game features 2D building, it's not very interesting to me. Add the fact that you got weapons with a variety of properties and cool movement abilities, I'd much rather explore, fight, and mine.

I prefer ranged, but bows are generally useless and guns use too much energy/deal too little dps compared to swords to bother.

I'm just going to be a wanderer. Not interested in base building in a 2D game unfortunately. 3D adds more complexity that I feel 2D can't match. I enjoy the sand biome the most. It's satisfying hitting a structure that automatically collapses on its own.

Humans, I'm a plain person like that. Although I would make a Hyltol just to have a kimono in the color I want and get the blocks from the ship.

I made campsite on the spawn point. Then left to look for a suitable base location. From there I would arm myself to the TEETH.

Role-Play, mess around, go on adventures, and since this is dealing with space, there has to be SPACE BATTLES!. Would also like to see planets that are built based on locations in pop culture.

Always better with other people, would be boring if no one can see your creations. Friends or Public, so long as it's fun.

When ever I have time or when I feel like it.

Range, Dual Pistols and Snipers to be more exact. That's How I always play. I might go Melee once and a while if they have a strong katana looking weapon. I know the first level weapons of the Hyltols resembles them BUT the higher ones look less and less.

I'm going to have a Home Planet, where I will have my residence/colony. And around that planet I will have two major bases. My current Home Planet has a Moon and a small planet orbiting it. This would be close to my Ideal Local, If it had an astrobelt It would have been perfect.
For my Home Planet It will be The Snow Biomes. And maybe even a "Spring" Biome if it exists. Moon and Desert Biomes for Bases.
