1. What race are you going to play, and why? Do any of he races just not appeal to you?
I'm planning to play both Apex and Glitch characters. I chose Apex because the random name generator gave my ape-man the name "Lime Delight," which is delightful. I would like to play as a Glitch because robot knights just sound fun.

2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?
Lime Delight is going to be an adventurer, exploring caverns and ruins (and likely find himself waking up in a medical tube with fair frequency given how bad I am at fighting). My Glitch is going to be a farmer. I really enjoy making multilayered farming towers.

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?
Crafting and Farming are my favorites. I like to be able to help the people I'm playing with. Setting up the mobile bases while my party go mining is a rewarding use of time online.

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?
Absolutely, multiplayer is my favorite way to play.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
A week? 3-5. More if I can spare the time.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
Melee. So far my approach has been to attack everything possible in game. Pixels are hard to pass up.

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
I have my main base set up in my ship, and carry everything necessary for a field base when adventuring deep beneath a planet's surface.

Hylotl, mainly because I really like anphibian and reptilian (I really hope you add a reptilian race to the game in the future) races. They're also a race based on the oriental culture, something that I'm also interested. The only thing about them that I would like to see improved is the lore, I feel like they have much more to offer when it comes to the lore, because right now the only thing we know is that they're a peacefull race that was driven away from their home planet by the Floran. The racial skills also need an improvement (since they're anphibians they should be able to breathe underwater).

2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?
Explore the first planet as much as I can, first of all, build a temporary house, then craft some armor and weapons and then see if I can find any dungeons over there or civilizations. After I'm done with the first planet I would like to explore the new ones, and off course, go to the highest danger levels.

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?
After a while, mining can get boring (I would mine if I needed, because crafting tends to get more interesting). I would have more fun hunting treasures in dungeons and different planets, or going on quests.

Probably with other people, mainly with friends on private servers. But I would also like to try big and small public servers. I would also play solo sometimes.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
I can't be too sure, but probably 10-15 hours a week.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
I use to be a rogue in RPGs, so I prefer melee combat style, mainly with quick weapons such as daggers. If I have the option to be a stealth character (maybe a rogue/thief armor that could give me sneak skills), I won't fight every enemy I come across, otherwise, I probably will.

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
I'm probably going to have one main base on a snow or a dark biome, and a few smaller bases in planets across the universe. As I've said, I enjoy dark themed (maybe corrupted) and snow biomes the most.

Human, if only because of a little tradition of mine. In every RPG/MMO I ever play where races are a thing, I play a human or damn near the closest thing to it when I first pick it up. I do so generally because in most games, humans are the easiest race to pick up and play due to general familiarity. Now, if you think that all I'll ever play is human, then you are sorely mistaken. I love all the damn races in Starbound, and the ones I'll probably play the least if I HAD to choose are Apex and Glitch. No particular reason, I just think the other 4 races are cooler

Move at a steady pace. Erect a homebase, get a farm going, get a mine going, get well equipped, kill ALL THE THINGS, explore, explore, explore!

I love exploration, you have no idea. I will not rest until I have seen every dungeon on every biome of every planet and looted every chest, especially the minibiome chests! I need more rainbow furnishings, damnit!

Already am! got a group of friends on Skype and we rarely ever play without each other.

The better question is how many hours will I NOT play? Quite a bit, actually, I do have a life, after all. But if I have time to kill, you can bet it'll be killed playing this game.

Shortsword in one hand, pistol/shield in the other. If it ain't bothering me, I won't bother it.

Main base to go home to, wander around every planet ever. Presently I love the shit out of the snow planets, which sucks because them bastards is cold and the Snow Infantry armor only goes so far...

Right now, Avian. Why? Because I think it looks good, and I've always been a fan of gryphons. Tho I may swap to a mod-added race if one appeals to me (Like that MLP race perhaps). The Plant people rub me the wrong way, mostly in story (the noble hunter/savage schtick has been done to death), and the Apex, simply because I don't find them visually appealing. Given the style, I actually find myself drawn to the slightly more cartoonish characters, since they seem the most expressive.

Would you believe "none"? I already know I'm an explorer type, and the two planets I've landed on (Including the starter world) I've explored as much as I can. I went all the way around until the place loops me back to the start. So I am hoping that this game will continually surprise me with new sights and experiences (A stretch, I know, but one can hope).

The mining wears on me, but there is something satisfying about exploring it all the way down the to lava/core (as I've managed once). I was actually surprised when I stumbled across a "hell" like area with walls of bones and flesh and "desecrated mud". Thankfully my exploration led me to find a low level "legendary" hammer that has given me little reason to worry about the monsters and let me explore in peace.

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?
Most likely I'll be playing primarily solo, or with a small group of friends. I find the solitary experience in these sorts of games the most enjoyable.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
Unknown. No, I really don't know. I expected to only play it a little bit, given I didn't care much for Terrarria, but something about this game grabbed me. I think the fact it actually had a quest chain and spent the time to teach me the systems in game really helped me where Terrarria fell flat. That and the fact that the universe is proceduraly (I misspelled that, I know. I can't pronounce it either >.<) generated gives me a potentially limitless pass to go and explore.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
I fight enemies that attack me, that's it. As for combat, I'm flexible. I actually prefer a bit of a hybrid style, and focus on that elusive middle range (that in the real world would be filled with things like handguns or shotguns).

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
I kinda hoped the space ship would act as the "main" base really. It seems a little offputting to have to have to leave everything, save a few items, and cart it to a new planet every time. Maybe it's silly, but I sort of hoped that we'd be able to build up and customize our ships much the same way we can customize a home. Otherwise, I'm just going to have a number of bare bones homes scattered across the galaxy, and constantly be carrying my furnace, crafting table, and whatever that third thing was I needed to every planet. As for Biomes... whatever lets me explore the most. I'm hoping for a lot of diversity here, to be honest. So far I've seen a Middle Ages style castle run by robots, a monolithic science lab that had some very aggressive guards and some rather nasty traps, a couple of tiny mausoleums with some weird guy in them calling me a heretic, and an oddly friendly guy with a two story home that didn't mind me stealing his stuff. That's pretty much it. I'm hoping to stumble over more as I explore more.

 

1. Floran or Hylotl, both are really cool. Love the Floran ship too.
2. I like to go at a steady pace, rush for resources on the starting planets until I've got a happy amount of everything and some farming set up for food.
3. Exploration and crafting cool stuff, i find gathering crafting recipes and finding interesting weapons to be the best bit.
4. A couple of my friends and I will be working together on a small home-run server.
5. Probably an unhealthy amount.
6. I prefer ranged although 2H melee seems to be the most effective.
7. I try to load up my own ship as a main base of sorts but i like to set up structures around where you warp in on a planet. I would like to get a proper base built on one of the higher risk planets.

I don't have friends in this game so i'm supposed to play in single player like it was a flashplayer game.

- Gonna start with Glitch, but I will make one of each I'm sure! Avian is close second.

- EXPLORE AND MINE! Probably other things too.... like smoke Cigars and drink Beer.

- EXPLORE and MINE.... and smoke and drink freals though I like to explore and what better game than this.

-Mostly small, but I'm not opposed to large parties. Usually there's more beer..

-Idk, a lot. Probably a few days a week, more if I can get on a fun server.

- Both, but I haven't got my hands on a heater yet. Nah, I ain't ashamed to run. Its how I got this far.

- I'm a drifter baby, I'll go where the booze is. I like the desert, but I haven't made my mind up just yet. My ship is my base for now. Maybe someday I'll settle down on a planet and start a family.

Human - Because I am a human. (Or I could be a nano-machine colony, you'd never be able to tell!)

When I'm not testing using cheat engine to find all the balance issues / etc? I'd probably be an explorer, farmer hybrid type. I'd probably also finish the main quest-line as soon as I could.

As I said in the previous question, I love exploring. But I love healing/helping people as well. It's unfortunate that there is no "Heal" skill or weapon of sorts (a la the Bio-Medi Gun from Defiance or TF2.) If there was one, I'd instantly try to find it.

I'll probably play solo for the most part, because I'm not into open world pvp, and most servers will likely have that enabled.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
Not as much as some would expect. I prefer MMORPGs over most games (as well as JRPGs such as the Tales series.) Or anything with huge mechs such as Titanfall. Probably whatever my steam profile says, since Aura Kingdom is going into Founders Beta (Which I'm a part of) on Monday.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
I prefer to not fight non-aggro enemies whenever possible, no matter if I need food or not. As I said in question 3, I love healing/helping people, but I'm terribly bad at aiming, even in a 2D Scroller such as this.

I will probably use my ship as my main base for the most part, and try to find a doctor spawner for it as soon as possible, since they sell medkits and other useful things. I love exploring, as I said earlier, so it's practical for me to use my ship as a base.

I plan to play it through Steam only. I like steam.

Floran
I have a deep running dislike towards the twisted needs of humanity so i usually play as something/someone that is either considered to be an outsider or running close to nature/natural order.
The other classes are either themed after more or less negative human traits or are rooted in religion.
For instance my first choice would have been Hylotl but i have reservations towards them due to the japanese culture. The second would have been Avian, but they have a history of being religious nutjobs, so in the end i got stuck with flesh eating plants. (In reality i just like that huge Floran afro style leaf hair other races do not have)

Take it as slow as possible.
A game is new only once, so i want to savour it as long as possible.
I do not really know what replay value the released game will have but yeah... i want to make it last.

I like amassing resources and craft. I like to plan, theorize, come up with some nice, universally usable build that allows me to amass even more stuff
The first thing i would like to do though is to grow a farm. In all other sand box games i played, farms were the most fascinating thing to construct and watch stuff grow.

Yes, its planned.
Altho public servers always possess the chance of some random troll appearing and wrecking everything.
Biggest issue in all sandbox games i have played up to date. Kind of sad.

I will play as long as the game keeps my head busy. As long there is something to aim for, there is a reason to play.
This is also the reason i want to play slowly.

If we will have only static biomes then from the current ones i like the classic Forest one the best, but i prefer biomes that "grow". Similarly to terraria's corruption and hallow.
It gives you the option to control and play around with the environment and also the feeling of a persistent and living world. I really hope starbound will have such biomes and/or events, items, creatures, instances, etc.
Now that i think about it, this is probably one of the things i miss from the game compared to terraria. Each planet seems to be more or less static and especially on larger planets, there is hardly enough diversity to keep the player interested. You just rush towards the left or right side of the screen and hope that something different pops up. NPCs, biomes, chests, something.

I Choose Floran because i like the Idea of Space travelling Living Plants that gained the Technologic knowledge from reverse engineering.(Until Novakids are aviable. Love em) I don´t like the Apex. Just too furry...

Avian. Fits my personal lore for my character best (space pirates YEAH!) I might run a second character as a Glitch, I'm a sucker for medieval things and their concept/lore is interesting.

Rush at first just so I have access to everything I need, then RP and build.

Build, mostly. Mining gets super boring but it's a necessary evil if I want to make things. Everyone loves treasure, especially a pirate.

Obviously they will be miners. My pre-wipe-Character has picked away at least 100.000 blocks.

I like the idea of using those 100.000 blocks to create a planet-wide city, populated with spawners and robots. Or my own space-station. I would love to get crafting recipes from my scanner, especially for more special building blocks and furniture. Or people moving there because certain conditions have been met (a medieval house appeals to glitch, temple stuff attracts avians, humans need a TV).

I don't think so. Gaming is the precious time of the day where I don't have to deal with other people.

Normally I'm ranged. In Starbound I actually started to prefer a heavy mace or hammer.

What race you ask? Every race! I want to get through to the final tier or equipment with ever race that gets released!

First character? Done. I chose to Rush through to the highest danger levels and get as far as I could while avoiding death!

Mining! Mining mining mining! Mining gives ENDLESS amounts of satisfaction to me! Being able to find all that valuable ore and making the items you need is fantastic!

I will play on a server eventually, hopefully i'm going to try to go to big and small servers alike, and maybe one day host my own!

How many ours? A LOT. This game has given me so much enjoyment so far and I don't think I will get bored of it any time soon!

Personally, my combat style is a mix of using Melee and the Targeted Blink tech; Blink in, hit and blink out. Great way to avoid and deliver damage!

So far from the 89 hours that i've played, and many planets that i've visited, i've made some small shacks for temporary protection from the air beasts, but I am planning to make a Main Base here pretty soon, just have to find that one awesome planet out there! Going from the Lone Wanderer to the Master of the Planet!

 

1. Floran because They look cool, and I've always liked them, I also love hylotl, its the one I'm playing as after the character reset.
2. My First Character was just casual.
3. Hunting for all the chest blueprints.
4. Single Player and Multiplayer with a few friends, not too large
5. Hopefully more than terraria, at 265 hours.
6. I prefer fighting in range, but I have no problem with fighting in close.
7. I'll enjoy all the biomes, atleast I'll enjoy all of the mini-biomes the most, including the rainbow and eye mini-biomes (they have capes, and I love capes)

 

1. As for the beta I'm just messing around with different races (I'm currently human), since they'll most likely get wiped anyway. Once the beta becomes more stable though, I'm thinking about choosing the Floran, and give it a look similar to Lilligant from Pokemon.

2. Rush in order to gather essential materials, then when I'm done with the first planet, I'll travel around and gather materials + loot dungeons from other planets. In other words, adventure as much as possible. (While mixing some farming in, of course)

When I find a planet I like, I'll build my base there, then I'll consider that planet my home. (Doesn't hinder me from invading other planets, mwhahahahaha)

3. Fighting and exploring. And building of course.

4. I'll probably go solo.

5. Seeing as I've spent 25 hours and counting just messing around in the beta, my guess is I'd be too ashamed to tell.

 

1. I would play (Im playing btw '-') with Floran because they look pretty cool. Better than the other races if you ask me. Also, they kinda like remember my country (TRY TO GUESS!).
2. I'll most propably explore the first planet until theres nothing else to explore. Then, Im going to another planet and explore that one even more. Then, the other one. And the other one. Dosent matter if the monsters are strong or not, I like a little challenge.
3. Mining sometimes is boring, sometimes its amazing. I love to explore and mine inside caves, but digging around without expecting anything is just sooooo BORIIIINNNGGGG! Also, I'll get anything thats inside a chest. Unless its a spear. I freaking hate spears.
4 .I've been to public servers before. No. Just no. Just the idea of spawning into a big ass hole makes me sick. And, yes, I'll play with friends as soon as they manage to open the god danm 21025 port. My friend's router just dosent wanna help =P
5 .I have no idea. But if its going to be close to Garrys mod amount of hours I've been playing, Im gonna waste my whole life in it.
6 .I like melee and ranged. But I specially love guns, guns are the best. Im not gonna fight every monster I come across since I like to explore. Fighting every single one would be a waste of time if Im looking for something.
7 .I'll probably wander around, just creating small wood sh*t-shacks to store my stuff in it. And my favorite biome would be either a frozen biome (not to be confused with a snow biome, just plain ice) or a hell of a big ocean around the whole planet. Maybe find pirates or something =D

I tend to roll most characters as humans to make them more personally relatable; I like to put myself in the role of my character. Although I have to admit, I don't understand how Florans are capable of interstellar travel.

A. "Turngles" Gills. is going to vault the tech tree until he has the capacity to gather raw materials quickly enough to rebuild a microcosm of human society.

I've really enjoyed exploring other humanoid communities and building my own structures. Customizable ships would be a dream come true for me. I'll admit that there's also something hypnotic about mining a rich planet.

I will at least play with two to three friends whenever we're all on, and if I have way more time than I have right now, I'll try my luck on a large server.

Whenever I have downtime, probably 6-12 hours a week or so.

I prefer ranged combat conceptually, but I've been surprised by how fun melee is. Killing isn't a priority for me; I usually dash past clusters of hostile mobs or people.

That depends on where the ship system goes from here. Right now, I'm building a larger "ship" in a planet's atmosphere, off of a communal station that my friends and I constructed. I love me some bases; I do everything I can to recapture the "couch fort" feeling from my childhood.
