1. What race are you going to play, and why? Do any of the races just not appeal to you at all?
I am going to play each of the races except for human.

2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?
I am a miner / farmer / collector. I will probably reach the highest levels but only to collect and display

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?
In games of similar types, i end up making giant farms and displays of my collections.

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?
Since my normal gaming friends are busy making money on D2 right now, I will probably play beta alone.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
Too many. I imagine I will put in at least 4 -6 a day for the first couple weeks.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
I am a ranged class person. I prefer healer, but since I will be playing alone for a while, ranged is my next best style.

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
I will have a main base where i have my farm. However, I do enjoy collecting, so i will have other gather points to base out of.

 

1) A Floran named Sol. He's a warrior space-prince like Thor : p

2) The plan is to beam down, build a rudimentary farm/base, and then get some cool melee weapons & utilities. I'll probably upgrade the base or make a new one at that point. Once it is more functional, I'll focus on getting higher tier loot, whether that means slaying or mining. I'm also eager to breed/obtain a ferocious pet monster : D

3) In similar predecessors to Starbound, I have enjoyed building the most. To do this efficiently, I've usually had to get the best tools & utilities (allowing such things as flight). Treasure hunting is pretty great too, because there's always some special gear you can't just go make, no matter how much iron & rocks you have in your inventory. I'm mostly in it to make a badass character who has a deadly place to come home to, as well as to hang out with friends.

4) I have played on some large servers in the past (e.g. MC Apork), and it's pretty rad to travel around and see what other people have been making, or to help out on a big group project. However, my experience on large Tshock servers has been quite different - more griefers than collaborative builders. So, besides the Beta Party, I'll probably run a small server with a few friends, and build up whatever homeworld I find. We'll see what happens once a few servers are running : )

5) Hours? Sol measures in days xD (hopefully not though)

6) Sol enjoys the rush from bashing & slashing enemies up close and personal-like. Initially his main will probably be a spear, with some form of crossbow or a lance as his secondary weapon. And fighting every enemy? Sol tests his might against every foul beast he can. If he triumphs, he at least gets more street cred (and maybe more loots?), and if he is outmatched, then he has found a creature worthy of fighting at his side.

7) Sol prefers the tropics near the equator. Things grow better there.

 

1. Floran! But Novakids sound awesome.
2. Test everything to see what's possible. Most likely sedentary.
3. Crafting and cooking's always fun.
4. Probably solo at first, then migrating to a server.
5. As much as I can fit in my schedule.
6. Ranged, sneaky, lots of trap usage. And only if they're tasty!
7. Main base most likely. I've always liked snow biomes, and ruined city biomes look awesome, but swampy dungeon would work best for my... Plans.

 

1. I think i'll play Glitch, as I love robots.
2. I like to take it easy, get a stock of supplies going. Then i'll start to make trips to gather loot and good resources.
3. I find ores irresistible for whatever reason. I like to go slow and make my character stronger as I go along, slowly going into harder things.
4. I would like to play with friends, but I have no idea if any of my friends pre-ordered this game. If not, i'll join public and find friends.
5. I have no idea. All I know is it that it will be ALOT.
6. I prefer going technological and ranged, I prefer not to kill stuff that's completely useless so me, I wanna be a nice guy.
7. I like to keep one main base, and some very small ones scattered around in far and deep places so I can crash for a night. So many biomes, I can't pick which is the best.

 

1. Still on the fence between Human, Avian, and Hyltol.
2. Jack of all trades is what I usually do. I'll specialize later once I know how the game works
3. Adventure, Gathering, Mining, pure Chaos. What ever seems fun at the time

6. Jack of all Trades is more my style. and it's probably a bad idea to pull in ALL the enemies around me. I've seen a few live streamers die really quick to random mobs

- Hylotl will be the race of my first character. I love the Hylotl's look and the oriental inspiration.

- Collecting the greatest swords, beating the strongest monsters and duelling with other swordmen.

- Training at close combat (one handed sword, one handed word + shield, two handed sword, dual wielding). I love exploration too and crawling in dark and hazardous dungeons.

- I'll play with a friend, at least. On big public server if possible. I want to meet many people.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
- I dunno. If the game really please me, several hours a day.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
- As said upper, i'll use only sword for fighting. Maybe a bow for particular use. I will fight every enemy strong enough to be a valuable opponent. I don't want to slaughter all lifeform i'll met on my way.

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
- I don't want to build many bases or a bug main base with my first character. My mate'll do it, probably and i'll use his base. Wandering around please me more. But i'll build some tiny houses in lovely places I think. There's many differents biomes so, I don't know. I love mountain, forest, winter and lake... I hope to find a planet I love during my journey !

I'll be playing as a Floran. I've thought that play creatures where cool ever since I caught Breloom in Pokemon Ruby. Now I have the chance to play as one? No way I'll turn that down.

I'll probably spend a fair bit of time building a sweet base.

I find mining sorta monotonous after awhile. I'll probably spend most of my time scouring the universe for rare armor and weapons.

At beta, it's unlikely. None of my friends are looking to throw money at an incomplete game right away. I'm sure when the game fully launches though I'll have more than enough people to play with.

Easily 100+

I like I fight at mid-range, usually with magic or "powers". I'm hoping there's something similar to that in Starbound.
7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
I'll probably have one huge main base, then a few restocking stations across space. I usually like desert biomes, and I doubt that'll change in Stabound.

- All races seam pretty interesting to me, and I had a hard time choosing which one I'll play first. But I think, at least for my first character, I'll be very original and start with a human !

- Mmmh, I'd like to play as some kind of biologist/geologist/ecologist (that must be a lot of studies, yeah ! ), searching and studying strange wildlife, analysing exotic geologic formation, etc

- I think that's something I'll see when I'll play, but yeah, searching for things to study need to explore, so I may bump onto treasure I'll probably don't leave unopened ! Mining don't gets boring to me, I just hope I'll have some great tools to do it, like mining lasers or so.

- Definitely ! I'm the one Marthounated is talking about. For now we are two, we don't know if other friends will join us but I'll be cool ! Playing on a big PvP public server, with like hundred of players must be totally awesome. We hope with my friend that there will be some kind of a Dark Soul feeling when finding another player, and wondering what he'll do, if he is strong, if he wants to cooperate, etc !

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
- That's a though question to answer, but if the game pleases me more than Terraria did, it will be more than it, so like hundred of hours.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
- Tobias may be a biologist, ecologist or whatever tells him not to shoot plasma everywhere, he knows how to defend himself. I see him well with a little plasma gun and a bigger rifle for long range combat ( it'll be so great to have some kind of an anesthetizing sniper rifle when the pet system is released, that would go so great with my character )

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
- At first, one big base, with one part dedicated to my friend's character, another one to me and a third one to my research. Then, some outposts where I conduct my research, and maybe a lovely house for my vacations .

 

1. What race are you going to play, and why? Do any of the races just not appeal to you at all? Human and Apex all day erry day. Humans b/c we are adaptable and about as tough to kill as a cockroach on steroids. Apex b/c commie apes based on 1984 are nice.
2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer? Since the beta is unstable, I'll probably go to a level 100 planet and see how long I can survive.

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server? O5-3 has a server for us Foundation clansmen. Other than that, I plan on playing with close friends and not so close friends.
5. How many hours do you think you're going to play? 50 plus hours for sure. 400 hours probably. It will get boring eventually.
6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across? As O5-D, I will use convoluted traps and impractical random weapons to destroy those minibosses. As Able (SCP-076-2), Swords, Axes, and Rapiers along with tanky Techs.
7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most? I'll have multiple bases no doubt to contain those pesky skips. As to which biome, I think I'll enjoy the tentacle biome the best.

 

Humans. I just tend towards humans. Though, I might try the other races just for new quests.

I will play as the glitch, I dislike the floran though.
Q2:
I plan to make a mineshaft to the center of my planet, and mine it clean of resources. I will then go planet to planet, sucking them dry one by one.
I also im going to stray away from the wikis, and if i must, youtube. I enjoy the sense of curiosity that comes when you discover something new, this is what truly keep games alive for me, so i tend to go away from the wikis, the how-tos, and the discoveries of others.
Q3:
I will mine. alot. Spelunking, strip mining, blast-mining, you name it.
Q4:
I wont play with people until im in the hang of this game. I enjoy multiplayer, but, i allays start with quiet, peaceful endeavors.
Q5:
oh god. Im currently in freshman year, and i got free-time. alot of it too. My terraria hours is almost 200 in just 3 months. From that figure, i guess maybe 3 to 4 hundred hours.
Q6:
I prefer to fight close combat, and if i must, short-to-mid range. I like to swing my swords and bash my shields.
Q7:
Im going to be a planetary nomad of sorts. as i said earlier, traveling planet to planet, sucking them dry, although i will keep one, prosperous, good planet alive to store my riches on.
MISC:
Housing styles: temporary, cheap, and full of storage.
Favorite biome: well, IRL i live by forests, mountains and rivers, and i absolutely love that kind of terrain, so there you go.

and ill suggest this for the sake of creative contribution:
Are you a big builder, with castles and skyscrapers, or a person who builds only what is necessary, or somewhere in-between?

And ill go ahead and answer my own question.
For main bases, i build extravagantly, but, when im not at a main base, i don't care. Ill have a dirt shack shoved full of chests.

 

1. Glitch, though the Florans are growing on me (no pun intended). Not to interested in Human or Apex, humans are too generic and i'm just not a fan of monkey people.

2. Moderate pace, when I am near end-game I will slow down a bit and build some things.

3. Exploration, always something to do when there is always something new to find.

4. Usually with games like this I play my first character through single player, then go on multiplayer after with a few (1-4) friends.

5. Not enough

6. Usually a mix of everything until I find out what i'm comfortable with, which changes in different games. I won't kill things that I don't have to.

7. My planet is going to have an entirely artificial surface when i'm done with it.

 

1. Novakids, but as I am starting in phase one, Imma start with the glitch. I don't really like the apex, or the avians.
2. Explore and exploit the fuck out of planets, so take GIANT expeditions to planets, scanning over EVERYTHING EVER.
3. Research (If its possible), mining a bit, and hunting for shiny's.
4. Nnnnnnnnope. Not at all; At least, not without friends. And my friends are like, "We'll give it a while" even though I'm like "THE FUCK?"
5. Let's see here...Take the hours I played Terraria...285...Multiply that by 12000...309600! (Probably just double Terraria, but, you know.)
6. RangedrangedrangedrangedRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANGED! And, if its optional to not kill certain enemies, then probably not. Space cowboys got MORALS and shit.
7. Definitely one main base with smaller ones scattered about, and ever solar system I'll make a new big base. I think I'll like...Snow biome. LET IT SNEW!

1. Most likely Novakid. I love western style and like the way they look, don't really dislike any of the races .
2. Explore, craft, build then move on to the next planet!
3. I like to mine, craft and farm but most of all i am a treasure hunter ( what can i say i love shiny things ).
4. I will play with other people the more the better! most likely with friends.
5. Id say around 12 - 24 hours a week.
6. My play style is Ranged, and no i would not fight every monster i see.... ( usually its best to hit and run with the treasure ).
7. Since ill be hunting treasure and mining all over the place, i'm pretty sure ill have MANY bases, i think id enjoy any biome except! any ice land biome.

 

I really like the Hylotl because i love old oriental culture and asthethics. I also really like the Avians because of the whole tribal thing and heck, they're colorful birds! Finally, the Glitch is pretty interesting by itself, because medieval robots. Can't get a crazier mashup than that
The novakids are halfway there, because i'm not so sure about wild west looks. Right below them, come the florans - i guess i'm not so fond of carnivorous plants.
Finally, i'm not giving much credit to the humans and apex because they're the closest races to what would be "normal" in my eyes. The crazier they come, the better to me.

I'll participate on the beta for sure, so a Glitch is the perfect character to go searching for bugs. Amirite? After that, likely an avian and maybe a hylotl.

I'm a wanderer, i really like to see the sights and explore new places... as long as they're safe :B

I'm not sure, my connection is really bad, but if i can safely connect to a public server that's just starting with everyone else, i might make some progress faster and get used to online play. I barely play mmos even because of my bandwidth.

I can't live enough to play that, it's gonna be my 16-bit skyrim.

I'm fond of white weapons. Also going to be my initial preference because i can barely play with a mouse and keyboard. That means, if there is a good enough bow, ballista, crossbow or something similar instead of just GUNS, i might try ranged when controller support is on.

I tried making a single base in Terraria. Doesn't work for me, and it certainly won't work on Starbound if i want to explore more. Simple shacks will do until i have enough resources to make about two or three bigger bases on the planet. There are teleporters, right?

2. Well, explore a lot! Slowly, to enjoy every environment!
3. I like to make farms, usually huge. Gathering all the materials for farming is a fun challenge!
4. Will play with some friends who played Terraria with me earlier. I also want to make some friends in game
5. I got plenty time to play at moment. When classes begin, probably 2-3 hours a day.
6. Its pretty fun to be weak just for the risk while I explore. I like carefully planned attacks, so Ranged suits me more. I won't fight all the enemies until I know what they do.
7. At first, I will just explore without any base, but eventually I will make a main base AKA huge sustentable farm. Biomes with few resources availiable are nice for challenge!

I like all the races for the differences they bring. Although the Avians stand out as my favorite by far... something about the idea of them being an ancient civilization, and also uncovering more about their god Kluex really appeals to me.

LORE. I'm going to dissect and analyze everything I possibly can, becoming my own walking encyclopedia of in-game knowledge. Once I'm done becoming an expert on one planet, I'll progress to the next one... and the next after that... continuing infinitely. Accumulating resources and equipment all the while.

As long as there's a goal in mind to give mining a sense of purpose, I can farm diligently. But I prefer to advance as quickly as possible. Experimenting as I go along to find out all the possible recipes and combinations for items. Taking in the story and atmosphere also keeps me interested... and roleplay with other players too!

Definitely with other people. Either multiplayer with friends, as part of a clan or social group, or for roleplay purposes.

As many hours as I feel like at the time. But generally pretty often.

Mostly ranged. Although... never underestimate the stopping power of a good spear to the face, when in doubt.

Plenty of smaller bases scattered around. Possibly seeded with lore journals or scraps of notes guarded by traps for potential visitors to discover on their own.

I tend to go for power, i enjoy lending myself out as a mercenary and sharing the plunders of my adventures.

I really enjoy Melee or Magic

I'll have a a "Main" base on a planet, i'll likely move this as my power grows to more powerful planets.
As for biome, i would really enjoy taking advantage of an ICE biome planet.
